Low Fuel Motorsport Adds Assetto Corsa

After garnering prominence from providing ACC players with quick and ready racing, Low Fuel Motorsport are now doing the same with the original Assetto Corsa.

Arguably one of the most beloved titles in the sim racing community is Assetto Corsa. Despite releasing in 2014, it has withstood the test of time and all kinds of new entries to the sim racing market, including its sister title Assetto Corsa Competizione.

This is in part due to its immense accessibility in regards to implementing third party mods. As a result, players can drive all sorts of cars and tracks, the only limit being one’s imagination. The only thing missing was a populated and efficient matchmaking system for races. Until now.

Low Fuel Motorsport has provided this service to ACC users for many years. But now, AC players can look forward to an online competition system. The groundwork has been laid for Assetto Corsa to join the automated racing competition system.

Assetto Corsa to Low Fuel Motorsport

Building up the Assetto Corsa integration into LFM, the Alpha test seasons begin on December 4. There will be two series running for anyone to join, Mazda Cup and Prototype Challenge. The first will be 20 minutes races in the MX5 Cup car around the Lime Rock south chicane configuration.

For the latter, drivers can take part in a race of 30 minutes in length around Le Mans in Duqueine D-08 LMP3 cars. Like with ACC with its DLC and rFactor 2 mods, there will be links redirecting players to the necessary content for the races.

Directly to OverTake, LFM’s Sören Heim said that in time for LFM Season 13, there would be more series available on Assetto Corsa. The current season ends after 31 December, so the full implementation of AC onto the service begins in 2024 with its beta season.

Stay tuned to the LFM socials for the latest information when it becomes available.

Editor's Take: Luca

Luca Munro OverTake.png"Even though I do not play Assetto Corsa, this news is very exciting. With all the mods available for the platform and LFM not being bound by restraints to stick only with official content, the possibilities for this are truly endless! One must ask though, where does that leave Assetto Corsa 2?

AC2 releases in early access next Summer, so a full release could still be over a year away. The original Assetto Corsa and Competizione still have such strong playerbases. Plus with LFM adding AC alongside ACC, those player numbers could skyrocket."

Opinion a part of this forum will not like

One of the reasons why none of the online ranking systems in AC didn't prosper was because they refrained from using converts of any kind, which included a lot of mods people used to race either single-player or in some smaller communities. LFM has huge potential playerbase and I hope they're going to get tracks even just from Reboot Team to finally expand on the roster. In terms of cars, it's a different thing. There's definitely enough of legit, original content to get by, and converted cars tend to be rather bad for racing as physics are the important thing.

They are not selling peoples content so I am not sure why they would need to reach out to the developers. I am not saying this about your tracks/mods but many of AC's content was ported data or other forms of data that was probably gained without consent. Are all the track creators reaching out to make sure what they're doing is also okay? Do you see where this is going? If this was paid for content, then I could see there being an issue. But I don't think LFM is trying to do anything shady.

Always intrigued when these modders get uppity about their cars or tracks being used or shared using different links or altered in anyway, whether for example the modder has got a license to use the car or track themselves from the source....

If not, frankly its open season on what you do with it. When modders put some made up legal jargon on their stuff when they themselves have no license from say for example Ferrari, it always makes me chuckle.

Let's just not go hard on Johnr777, shall we?

He raised a pretty valid issue and i'm sure that would have given the permission to use any of his creations if it had been asked.

yes, I think its the right thing to ask, never mind the other stuff mentioned.

If you are turning a profit using somebody else's content, there is reason for concern. LFM is not a charity ONG.

Just tried a race and the first half of the race was enjoyable with good clean racing. The second half became a penalty hell where I kept getting stop go and drive through penalties for I don't know what. No matter what I did to serve the penalty - I got another, and another. Some clue as to the reason for a penalty would be helpful. Anyone else suffered the same fate?

Without having raced yet AC at LFM .... I'd say they are using an app called "Pitlane Penalty" or identical .... allowing to avoid the pure Kunos slow down penalty and replacing it by a own system of using the original cut detections for giving warnings for a certain number of cuts and after 3 or 4 free warnings you get a penalty of Drive Through.
Moreover this app also has a penalty system for speeding in the pitlane ( mostly at entry ): +- 85Km/hr in place of the original automatic pit limiter of 80 km/h.

Surely the reason why you get DT penalties after a while in race and maybe also later for .... speeding at the pitlane entry !!

NB: we're mostly using this App for a very long time in leagues. ( slow down on track are a real nightmare )
But control after race is needed as we need to be sure that the penalty is done.
Maybe a system was made nowadays for avoiding this manual control

I don't recall seeing any cut warning before the wave of penalties started. I'll have another race and see how that goes...

Did you have files to install in game before driving AC at LFM ?
Such an app needs an install and activation for display in one's own game ( mostly rather transparent when not needed and sometimes hard to see if it is placed in a too light color on monitor ( sky for example ).

I'll have a look at LFM in this meaning.

EDIT: of course there's an app to install, that's Real Penalty App which needs to be installed, activated and displayed.

Have a look at this video, everything is explained there:

I think this app has its server side while Pitlane Penalty hasn't

Do they plan any legends / history cars daily events? Where iR is lacking is a lot of history cars stuff. They only have a handful... AC has plenty on the other hand ... in stock AC and DLCs and so on.

So did licensing bite them already? I jumped on again, went flying off the road and thought to myself that corner was nothing like the corner it was yesterday. Sure enough the version of le mans has changed, I think the one they had yesterday was a forza rip.

I opened up an account and signed in for the rookie races on AC. Set up everything like it's explained in the video (had most of the stuff installed anyway).

Wanted to start first race and got kicked out instantly without being given a reason. After some searching I found out their Race Penalty App does not activated in game. It's active in CM (checked the box) but I can't activate it in game.

Why the need for an extra Penalty app anyway, use the one that's there. Never had problems with that o

Any chance you got this resolved? I'm having same problem and cannot find info anywhere how to fix this.

It's probably due to bad optimization of the track, it's very fps heavy and curbs are a bit harsh on the car.

The video they presented as the tutorial is wrong with one important thing, you should install Real Penalty app manually, without content manager. This is often the reason why it doesn't work. When you put it manually into the game folder, just enable it in python apps section of settings inside Content Manager and you're good to go. You can check if it works by inspecting the app list single-player, if you see real penalty you're good to go.

No, and I didn't try that hard to make it work to be honest since re-installing didn't work either. But the post after yours seems to have a solution. Maybe try that.

I believe anything is possible here. I know AMS2 is also a game many people want as part of LFM, and there is no platform for historical racing content like AMS2.

But regarding AC, I believe they will have a bit of modern variety with all the series they run. Although I would not rule out entirely the idea of historical content with AC LFM.

They are turning a profit on the systems they have spent a large amount of time on to get going/creating. They also have expenses, server hosting, web hosting an everything else that goes along with making this work. Again, they are not selling these mods for profit, nor are they selling them in any way. Love modders, thats why we are all here. There are other ways to support them as many have done including myself. LFM has also added direct links to the creator's website near the downloads. Not sure what else they would want.

Nice, but it's about using somebody else's free work in a system that creates profits. There is a reason why modders put warning signs on their posts to not use their work on streamed or paid events. RSS even charges a higher fee when their mods will be used on high profile events. Money stains stuff, to put it on simple terms.

No, thats just not accurate at all.
