London E-Prix Completes rFactor 2 Q4 Content Drop

Last but not least on the list of many Q4 releases for rFactor 2 is something quite unexpected, to say the least. The London ExCeL E-Prix is coming to the simulation many forget also officially features Formula E content.

With so many recent releases in the WEC and BTCC direction, it is an almost forgettable thing that rFactor 2 still officially hosts Formula E content on its platform. What comes, to no great surprise, with not the best response on the internet is the release of one of Formula E's tracks, the London E-Prix at the ExCeL centre.

The 2.252 km track with 22 turns runs along the Thames waterfront in London, UK. Furthermore, what can be said about the venue, is it's certainly quite unique.

Formula E fans will have everything they need, racing the previous generations of vehicles on the circuit. What is missing, however, is the upcoming generation of Formula E.

This release shows that rFactor 2 is still committed to the Formula E license and will continue to support the electric racing series.

I kind of understand why the studio is doing this (promoting the FE content more), but from my POV with FE being a controversial subject amongst motorsport fans it is to be expected that you have negative reactions when you pack FE tracks into a bundle with regular racetracks. And please don't use the argument that you can use any vehicle on those tracks. None of the FE tracks has some kind of heritage or character to it. Eau Rouge, Corkscrew, Maggots, Beckets and Chappel or Arrabbiata - these are names that get a motorsport fan hooked up. FE tracks have none of this. They aren't build into the landscape.

From a non-FE fan perspective this track doesn't add any value, but I guess that it adds on the package price. I personaly wouln't even use it, if it was free. I haven't used Lester 2.0 as I simply don't like this whole FE thing. For me it feels very artifical and it starts with those silly advertisments, a racing series sponsored by a financial institute. The classic Lester track intented for the IMSA Celica was and still is the real deal anyway. The first announcements for the Q4 package were nice but I hope that S397 thinks about how they package everything. Until now FE content was allways nicely packaged for those who are really interested in that kind of racing. But with this track added to the pack it kind of feels like it is forced down my throat.

This track is part of the Q4 2022 Content Drop. I expect there will be a pack containing all the new content, but also a pack with everything except this Formula E track. We have seen this before in earlier content drops, e.g. the Q1 one where there was a pack with and a pack without the Indycar.

Edit: Looking at the YT video below this won’t be the case, so to get the best deal on everything except the Formula E track, you have to by the complete Q4 2022 Content Drop pack. But I have drive the Mini on some Formula E tracks now, and that is a very good combo. Thanks @M D Gourley !

Did you ever notice that all or at least most of the premium members like the London E-track!
By the way: Same thing with new Raceroom content!

I love this game but create a server is old and a nightmare, can´t believe mods, DLC and workshop but still no one release a efficient server manager, now i understand RF2 has 2 great stones on the road to compite against Ams2, ACC or AC, DLC prices and a ugly system to create servers, please t S397 release a better server manager more intuitive and easy and you gain more addicted to Rf2

They did post a questionnaire a few months back about the online side of it. Hopefully, the server management side of it will get some love .

I've never done any server side stuff for rF2, but I can bet it's a royal PITA :D

To me, electric racing in the real world is inevitable because the world is going that way. Why do we need to go that way in a virtual world...I don't know.

Hopefully sim makers will still cater to petrol heads, even if they have to make historic sims as petrol dies in the real world. I want escapism not more boring reflections of a world I am less and less in tune with.

For those bashing the release of this track do keep in mind the studio holds the official license so its no surprise ;)

Just for a minute I imagine I don't like FE.
So I buy the BTCC tracks and car for 19.
haha I saved 9 not buying the pack. :geek:
All I miss out on is another 2 tracks and 1 car ............wait :p
Even if you throw the London track out with the bath water
You still get a FIA grade track and Lemans car for extra 9 bucks.
Full pack works out 5 6 a track and 4 2 a car.
As I said many times at least you get to buy single content unlike 2 other sims.
rF2 gets no credit for that either. Tough crowd.

Its funny how you see yourself as this protector of the holy. If other people like formula e, then let them like it. People similar to you like to criticise people wanting to control what they do while you are trying to do the exact same.
I was speaking in an ironic tone, of course let the people have electric racing if that's what they want.

But I think it's more like the opposite. When WTCR was killed a few weeks ago, they cited reasons that it was not sustainable enough for sponsors, suggesting that traditional touring car racing were a thing of the past. This I believe is a narrative which is forced upon us. Sponsors and an alleged pressure which is definitely not raised by car racing fans, led to the ceasing of a series I have personally followed.
