As Nacon released a new teaser video for its upcoming TT Ride on the Edge game, the title's open world map also emerged onto the internet this weekend. Keeping focus on the Isle of Man, this game is sure to revolutionise the franchise.

With the recently announced release date of TT Isle of Man: Ride on the Edge 3 getting closer, a select few were able to visit the Raceward Studios office in Milan for a preview. Whilst new game footage is interesting, as is the latest teaser trailer released by Nacon over the weekend, the most exciting information of the week has to be shots of the open world map.

With the third iteration of the Ride on the Edge franchise very much a case of revolution rather than evolution, this "Open Roads" mode is set to be a centre point in the game. This will certainly change from the second game in the series in which the exploration mode seemed to be an after thought.

A holiday on the Isle of Man

In the real world, attending the Isle of Man TT typically means one spends a solid two weeks stuck on the island in the middle of the Irish Sea. Getting off the isle requires either a long boat journey or an expensive plane ticket, so racing fans traditionally set up camp and spend a fortnight exploring the surrounding area.

This is the same vibe gamers will experience in Ride on the Edge 3. In previous games, the free roam mode was oddly set in Ireland, but that will all change. The "Open Roads" mode in which players have free reign over countless Manx roads allows them to explore the island and discover new events, challenges and locations.

Yes, this game's free roam mode puts you on the Isle of Man with the entire TT course and many of its service roads to explore. Have you ever fancied going straight on at Ballacraine instead of sweeping right? You can do that and continue on to the fishing town of Peel. Ever wondered what it's like going round the mountain and following the coast? Ride on the Edge 3 allows you to try. Even the streets of Ramsey, at the North of the course, and Douglas, by the start line, are opened up for racing fans to explore.

Unlike previous titles, the map won't be an empty expanse to ride around. In Ride on the Edge 3, the "Open Roads" mode is where players will activate various events. It's also here that they can learn the TT course before attending the qualifying events required to enter the TT. Challenges and quick races will also be available to enter from the free roam map.

Think of this latest game then as an adaptation of the Forza Horizon recipe. Except it's with bikes. And it takes place on a rock in the middle of a very un-tropical sea. And it is certainly catered to fans of a specific niche in the motorsport world. That being said, you most definitely don't need to be a fan of the TT to get excited by this game. It may focus on the infamous Manx event, but fans of racing in general are sure to gravitate towards this upcoming title.

What do you make of this more central approach to the TT game's open world mode?

you are not enough experienced (with TT games) to see the massive improvement, immediately I see the RIMS upgrade over TT isle of man 2....you know RIMS, isnt it ? the developpers are no more KYLOTONN but RACEWARD STUDIO...

there isn"t any lose it and crash physics in TT2, get good, it's the opposite, we have resquested more hard physics to lose the control of the bike, particulary with throttle input, cause it was too much simple on rail, and it what we will have....better crash and lose it physics ;)
Just to clarify my position, I was only talking about the graphics and not the physics. I agree it'll be better physics than the previous 2 (not that hard LOL). But how good remains to be seen but even though I've not played RIMs I've heard good thing so should indeed be an improvement (fingers crossed).

Stop saying people are crying. It's trolling at its best. You haven't even played this latest version yet. So you really cannot comment.
To be fair I don't think it'll be arcadey as you fear, RIMS racing sounds likes it's pretty much up there ahead of Milestone and maybe behind GPBikes, but I've not tried RIMs as the content sounds on the low side.

Maybe. Time will tell. I have got RIMS and it is arcade riding feel just like the rest of them. I got a cheap steam key for it a while back and gave it a go. Un-installed pretty quick. In fact Microprose GP500 is still the best bike racing game in the realism and physics side.

shame that I've read good things about RIMS. :( bike physics not the easiest thing to create! Yeah I loved GP500, those were the days.

How do you know this?
"lose it and crash physics", the game was too much easy, there is no lose and crash physics in TT2....
and it was the main complain from the players..it was on rail....so they have added throttle physics, to make the game harder...adn far more better and realistic....even with a gameplay at 3rd person, I immediately see how it's far better than TT2, and if you don't see that, you are not really experienced with TT games....or RIMS.

Like I have said you are not experienced.

throttle physics

Does the rotation of a a lever and aerodynamics of hand position really matter that much?

I'd go for acceleration/deceleration, engine break, bike rotation etc. or whatever result it had on the bike in stead xD

I mean front tyre physics, in TT2 there is no physics, it was on a rail, you could press all the time the throttle with unlimited grip, the brake was good, now they have improved the front tyre

You are a troll kid. You haven't got a clue what you are talking about. And you assume things too. I have been playing motorbike racing games since GP500. You have probably never even heard or played that king of bike racing simulation. Yes that's right, simulation, not like Rims and the other arcade racers.

Just was taking your phrasing too literally for fun :)

No harm intended.
