Have Your Say: Which Racing Sim Has the Best Porsche Cup Car?

Best Porsche Cup in Sim Racing 01.jpg
In our latest Have Your Say article, we want to know which racing title offers the best Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car.

There isn't much content that appears across most of the major racing sims we feature here at RaceDepartment, but the previous generation of Porsche Cup car fits that criteria.

Assetto Corsa, Assetto Corsa Competizione, Automobilista (as the Boxer Cup), Automobilista 2, iRacing, RaceRoom and rFactor 2 all offer versions of the car. There are variants of the car in the 991 generation, but the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car remained largely unchanged from 2013 to 2020.

So we want to hear which sim you believe offers the best Porsche Cup car. It's not a measuring stick for the overall quality of a title, but it is an interesting thought experiment to see how our favourite titles stack up when recreating the same car.

The Porsche Cup car has remained a popular choice in sim racing thanks not only to its presence across many titles, but also its appeal as a more challenging alternative to GT3 racing.

So, who did it best? Which of the titles noted above offers the best experience with the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car? Use looks, sounds, driving physics, online experience, or any combination of the above as your criteria for grading the cars. Let us know your favourite Porsche Cup car in the comments below.

I know that the Cup car on iRacing is not the 991 anymore, but the 992, which is - reportedly - finally resembling the real thing, unlike the previous one.
I was talking about the 991, not the 992. A few months before the release of the 992, the 991 received an update, that's what I meant.

Quite a few of them are very similar and very enjoyable. My top 3 are very close and it is hard to pick my favorite.
1. ACC
2. Iracing
3. R3E

The only one that feels extremely different is the RF2 version which feels so terrible and unrealistic that I can't be bothered with it. That is a bit odd considering RF2 is my favorite sim. That car is a piece of garbage though. No way a race purpose built car handles like that.

ACC Porsche Cup is nice, rF2 also drives well (sounds shite), AMS2 changes from update to update and R3E is fun....To pick a favourite i will probably go with ACC just because it is the best overall package with great sound, physics feels plausible and it feels right through my wheel. I do like the sound of the new iRacing version but i don't have my subscription anymore to try it.

I guarantee 99% of people here cant judge that properly, including me. unless you have both the technical specs of the real car to see if they are correct AND lots of experience driving the car to know if it behaves accurately or not. ive always been under the impression that if you get the data correct in AC then it will behave pretty well, but kunos has been known to get that stuff wrong so who knows

What an easy question to reply back when noone could have a licensed porsche car :) i guess AC gotta take the trophy here since it opened the doors for all of these discussions we are having here... ofc everyone will reply "the one on the sim i like is the best" :) .. me to be 100% honest i have no idea, most of them are quite well done in various shapes and forms .. and yes i have them all !

I drove a 991.2 GT3 Cup in the Nürburgring Endurance Series for a year and I felt the R3E version to be the closest from the overall feeling. But I also like the AC and ACC versions. It's just a fun car to drive in all scenarios :D

I like all the above. Can someone who knows Porsche well, let us know who Replicates it the most accurately in ways of the cockpit accuracy instruments etc. because they all seem different.

Don't know if this counts, but I absolutely still love the Porsche 911 RSR 1974 (mod car) from the original AMS the most, the driving experience is simply some of the best you can get in sim racing.

The new 992 cup car in iRacing is just incredible so right now thats the best to me....but I reserve the right to change my opinion when ACC releases theirs in early 2022.

There are different models and specs of the car. iRacing has the latest car model, 992. ACC has a little different spec of Cup car (ABS). Rf2, AMS2 and Raceroom all have the same spec of car. There could be some small changes to the interior though depending on when and where the sim got their CAD models.
