Confirmed: Spa-Francorchamps Joins Forza Motorsport Track List

Some racing circuits are so iconic that they just cannot be overlooked, and Spa-Francorchamps is certainly part of this category. It should come as a surprise that the iconic track laid out in the Ardennes is the latest venue to be confirmed as part of Forza Motorsport's launch lineup.

Shortly after announcing the Nürburgring and Mugello, Forza added the next historic circuit to its roster. Spa is a mainstay in most sims, so the site of the Belgian Grand Prix, the 6 Hours of Spa or the 24 Hours of Spa could not be left out for Forza Motorsport either. At roughly 7 kilometers, it is one of the longer modern tracks, offering a unique challenge to drivers not only through the daring Eau Rouge-Raidillon complex of corners.

The track has been part of the series since Forza Motorsport 5, appearing in every Motorsport title since making its debut in the fifth instalment in 2013. Interestingly, however, the track will not feature the renovations of recent years, according to the teaser - the old grandstands opposite the endurance pit lane are visible, as is the house at the top of Raidillon that used to be home to a bar.

Layout Remains Unchanged

The grandstands have been replaced for the 2023 season, and the house has been gone since the renovations started in late 2021 to extend the run-off area at Eau Rouge and Raidillon following serious accidents that saw cars being thrown back onto the racing line after hitting the wall, one of which tragically resulted in the death of French Formula 2 driver Anthoine Hubert in 2019.

The track layout itself has not changed, but the addition of gravel to certain runoff areas such as that of La Source would change the way drivers would approach the corner - running wide over the kerb has more drastic consequences with gravel present compared to the tarmac runoff of the slightly older version, as we have already argued in regards to iRacing's version of Spa.

Either way, using a slightly dated version will not change the thrill of trying to master the iconic Belgian circuit, especially with the enormous variety of cars Forza Motorsport has to offer. Find out what has been confirmed for launch day here. The game will release for PC via Steam and the Xbox Store, and Xbox Series X|S on October 10th.

I never would have even noticed the grandstand, the house containing a bar at the top of Raidillon or the missing gravel. I know others probably do, but I don't have every inch of every track memorized for every year, so I would much rather investments be made in places that I would actually notice.

Graphics, track list, physics, cars, AI and game play are probably far more important to me for a Forza release.

But when content is regurgitated from previous releases, you wonder how much was *invested* everywhere else.

Adding those changes are not exactly the most time consuming task for a dev team.

To me, not removing the buildings doesn't suggest to me that money wasn't invested elsewhere.

I don't know if it's the most time consuming tasks, but it is time consuming to review all the changes to the track and the surrounding visible areas and implement them. And while Forza has some issues, they do invest ALOT in that game. At the end of the day, this will have zero impact on me.

That's not to say it won't have an impact on others. If I did some track days at Spa recently, I may say "Hey wait a minute"... but it's not like Forza has ever been the most realistic simulation.

Doing that update is 2 days work, for a few people.

Everyone complains when a part is missing on a car, or a mirror that's backwards, but having a track that's off seems to be no problem.

I don't know if that's the amount of time it would take or not... but it's not just the time to remove it, you need to spend time researching all the tracks to know what has and hasn't changed. And getting new photos and dimensions.

Regardless, even if you are two days/few people number is correct, that time for me would be far better invested elsewhere. If there's a mirror that is actually backwards, I'd MUCH rather them fix that as I would actually notice that.

You mean, watching a couple of 4K videos on youtube and go... hey, theres a new grandstand at the top of Raidillion? Gravel traps everywhere? Even I do these changes quickly with my projects...

Sure, its not even released yet, but the hype was that it was going to be "oh so fancy and detailed, look at our state of the art trees on this super detailed Laguna Seca"

Then go... meh... just give them the 10 year old Spa build to fill our promises...

That's fine, I'm just saying that I would never notice a missing house or grandstand. I could watch that 4K video 35 times and I wouldn't notice much of anything off the track. The gravel is a bigger deal, but if it's one corner I probably wouldn't notice it.

Most corners have gravel now, its quite the change.

I don't really care that it's not the latest version of Spa, in fact I prefer the track that includes the bus stop. I have the 2023 version in Automobilista 2, Let Forza use the one you want, the spirit of the game is very different from that of a hard simulator. To have fun and have a good time is very good.

"The track has been part of the series since Forza Motorsport 5"

And it will be the same exact mesh too, just with lipstick to bring it up to current gen...

This sort of effort is such a turn off...
And what do you expect other than better mesh, greater precision, finer graphics with more details? We're talking about bringing in a new circuit, not physics or anything else, right? Spa is the most beautiful circuit in F1, do you think it's a mistake to add it to Forza? If he wasn't there, I'm sure many would complain even more. Well, it's not just you who complains, it's normal, we live in a time where people have more than in any other time but where people are still dissatisfied. I don't expect anything from Forza, but I won't judge until I've tried it.

So come back once its released?

Not sure what your goal here is....
