Brands Hatch Announced for rFactor 2

One classic British track had already been announced by Studio 397, another followed suit very soon: After Donington Park was confirmed, the upcoming rFactor 2 content drop scheduled will also feature Brands Hatch. Both circuits are set to be available in May – and they will likely not be the only tracks to come to the sim.

Formula 1 raced 14 times at the classic English track between 1964 and 1986, twice for the European Grand Prix. The World Sportscar Championship and even the Champ Car series staged races at Brands – there is barely any series on two or four wheels that has not been there at all.

Just like in Donington’s case, a community-made version of the track is available in the Steam Workshop, which is likely going to be replaced by the brand-new laser scanned version. Both the full layout and the shorter Indy variant will be part of the content drop.

Further content announcements will be coming before the release in May, according to Studio 397. This week, another piece of content is expected to be revealed – a candidate would be Oulton Park, which would fit perfectly with the tracks that have been announced so far.

The BTCC, WEC, etc... games are or will be always titles going in the F1 202X direction: simcades with transition scenes etc.
I don't think they were ever supposed to be true simulations (just like N21 Ignition would be, if it worked).

I was under the impression MSG is terrible, but Uncle Roger seems to know what he's talking about and has changed my mind.

The AI has received major improvements on the Release Candidate (Beta) which allows for multiclass racing to work (inlay bug is mostly eliminated) and for the AI to properly use tyres depending on changing conditions.
Also, the AI behaves really well if bother making some tweaks on the player.json file (a 5 min job).
Yep I'm aware of recent fixes, but there's plenty more to do before I'll be satisfied :)

I almost **** my pants when I saw this! :p
Not a huge BTCC guy, but very promising for the future of rF2
There have been some complaints about the rF2 FWD cars up til now. This will be an interesting challenge to see if they can advance their physics. I have to say I was pleased they included both a FWD and RWD in their first release. LOOKING FORWARD to this.

They really need to address the FWD modelling in rF2. No other sim has such bizarre torque steer FFB as the FWD cars in that game.

Yes, thank god the Infiniti is included. Hoping they even figured out their FWD woes.

Pretty smooth FWD car is doable for rF2, no problem. I have done one for one guy, but he never responded after I sent it to him. So IDK if something was VERY wrong for him, or he was just impolite.

However if RL car has massive tires and big scrub radius or some other detail amplifying torque steer then those who complain should find out if their complaints are about the actual car how it is, or about its simulation.

Why difficult ?
There are only 8 tracks , we already have 3 ( Silverstone National )

Because the BTCC title has been cancelled.

Which means that the BTCC game has been left probably unfinished, and this is something the devs will not like at all the more complete and developed the game it was. Between modelling cars and tracks, the latests are the most difficult. So I bet rFactor2 will not probably get a full BTCC trackpack, just a few of them. Especially when Motorsport Games is in a desperate need of money; it could go bankrupt this very year.

I believe in the theory that Brands Hatch, the BTCC DLC and Donington are the leftovers of the BTCC videogame from MSGM.

I don't think rFactor2 sells will compensate in the slighest the millions of dollars Motorsport Games are losing.

Usually the DLC's are much higher quality though. Oulton was recently updated to use the modern rF2 tech. Brands does not (not the non-workshop updated either). Donington reportedly does, but hasn't been updated since 2019, so might miss some goodies.

The choice is there, but often the mod-tracks aren't updated along with the game sadly.
Hence the "pretty nice" and a wish for official. So i totally agree. S397 Oulton is a dream of mine.

Meh... every time the same racetracks. Donington Park... Brands Hatch... Donington Park... Brands Hatch. What about the other great circuits like Knockhill, Thruxton, Oulton Park!? It would be greate to finally see one of them in rF2.
i love Cadwell Park even more than the ones you mentioned, but good point, sir.
Cheers!
