Brands Hatch Announced for rFactor 2

One classic British track had already been announced by Studio 397, another followed suit very soon: After Donington Park was confirmed, the upcoming rFactor 2 content drop scheduled will also feature Brands Hatch. Both circuits are set to be available in May – and they will likely not be the only tracks to come to the sim.

Formula 1 raced 14 times at the classic English track between 1964 and 1986, twice for the European Grand Prix. The World Sportscar Championship and even the Champ Car series staged races at Brands – there is barely any series on two or four wheels that has not been there at all.

Just like in Donington’s case, a community-made version of the track is available in the Steam Workshop, which is likely going to be replaced by the brand-new laser scanned version. Both the full layout and the shorter Indy variant will be part of the content drop.

Further content announcements will be coming before the release in May, according to Studio 397. This week, another piece of content is expected to be revealed – a candidate would be Oulton Park, which would fit perfectly with the tracks that have been announced so far.

Just saying - official content does not "replace" what is in the Steam Workshop. Rather there is a choice to buy DLC or use the content provided by others. Obviously you have to use the one agreed to for online competition though.
That's not always how it works, they have with Portland as an example worked with the original version creator (Alex Coutie), and the original has been removed when the official version is added.

We have a pretty nice Oulton. Would be awesome with an official though. One of my fav track due to the speed and elevation changes. Brands and Donnington official is nice though.

Usually the DLC's are much higher quality though. Oulton was recently updated to use the modern rF2 tech. Brands does not (not the non-workshop updated either). Donington reportedly does, but hasn't been updated since 2019, so might miss some goodies.

The choice is there, but often the mod-tracks aren't updated along with the game sadly.

The thing is ... You have to go to the other sims to enjoy the track and you can not use you rf2 content in it, the real plus is that is a recent laser scan and the added and up to date detail is always welcome... Or simply ask a racing team how much they are paying for having a recent laser scan for any given track

My home circuit (almost) another great track to the title....fix those AI issues and I'll have no reason not to reinstall.
Hope the other MotorSport Vision tracks follow as well, that'd be cool.

RF2 is almost die

True there is like zero growth and compared to iR often way less than 10% players worldwide but i think thats the result of a studio not doing/improving/working on the ai, physics issues and unfinished features since 2013. All they do is pump content out and some graphics imrovements. And thats why i stopped to support this sim a couple years ago beside the very low player count. Basically since ISI got rid of it.

Don't pay any notice to them, they have nothing better to do.
Yeah, after reading a fair few things about the CEO, MSG just seems dodgy.
I just hope they can get some more AI fixes done before it all goes tits up :D

Never see croft in any sims unless they are community made, would like to see someone do an official version

What current sim has Croft ?

Oh right none, current sims are not moddable

So you should be asking the other studios why not

This trend in current sims is a real worry. Because, as you imply, that's often the only way to get niche content that only a small number of people might be interested in, but is super cool. Like rare historic cars/tracks or local tracks associated with a particular series (e.g. Croft and BTCC, Symmons Plains and V8 Supercars).

I hope AC2 is moddable, that's for sure! And regardless, rF2 carries on that tradition as well :)

they are getting suspicious amount of UK tracks, ... BTCC offical game coming in RF2 ? :)
I think it was the videos digging into MSG that mentioned these tracks might be all coming out for rF2 now because the BTCC game won't be happening (lots of brands running away from MSG apparently).
