Beat Max Verstappen: First F1 23 Pro Challenge Launches

As the Formula One circus gets back to business after its summer break at the Dutch Grand Prix, F1 23 is adding more to play with: The first Pro Challenge featuring Max Verstappen at Zandvoort is now live - but there is more to come with the next update on August 29th.

Beating Verstappen is something the entire F1 grid would probably love to do, as the Dutchman is in the middle of one of the most dominating streaks in the sport's history - should he take to the top step of the podium in his home race again, the reigning World Champion would equal Sebastian Vettel's 2013 record of nine victories in a row.

Beat Verstappen, Then Leclerc

Once the update drops on Monday, fans can try to face off against Verstappen in Zandvoort to try and beat his lap time of 1:10.621 minutes. Should they manage to lap the circuit quicker than the 25-year-old, they win his special edition Dutch GP helmet to use in F1 23. This first Pro Challenge will be active until September 4th, followed by a new Pro Challenge against Ferrari's Charles Leclerc ahead of the Italian Grand Prix on September 5th.

As announced, Daniel Ricciardo will make his return to the grid as part of the update as well. The Alpha Tauri driver replaces Nyck de Vries, who got relieved of his duties ahead of the Hungarian Grand Prix. A new driver ratings update is also in the works, but will not be implemented until September 19th.

Simpler Singapore

F1 fans will also be pleased to know that the updated layout of the Marina Bay Street Circuit for the Singapore Grand Prix will be part of the update. The track's layout will see the first major overhaul in its 15-year history after several minor alterations. For 2023 the entire section between Turn 15 and Turn 20 - now Turn 16 - has been removed to speed up the final sector of the circuit.

In addition to the new challenges and content, several bug fixes should be expected to be part of the update as well. What exactly EA and Codemasters are planning to fix and adjust has not been announced, but you can find the list of community-raised issues that are being looked into or awaiting a patch here to get an idea.

This post is a real piece of art.

What do you need to smoke for this inspiration?

I drove on this version of the final sector years ago...

rFactor 1 I believe...

Awesome change to the flow of the track...

I might actually enjoy the Singapore race from now on... Oh wait... DRS is still a thing... lol

HAllelujah !!!!! I talked about removing this stupid chicane section at Singapore for years !!!!

Any update on Spa Francorchamps ? No ? Still racing the 2010 version :roflmao:

Are they still going to bother with putting Ricciardo in now or straight to copy paste Lawson straight in? :(

Big thanks for those posters self selecting for the ignore button academy :) big glowing beacons this week, no need to wade through a few borderline toxic or dumb comments.

Sorry for off topic but I have to share this...

Just tried F1 23 because of the Steam sale. Wow. From a technical perspective it's worse than F1 22 which was worse than the games before. In F1 22 when I Alt+Tab I lose the steering wheel input. In F1 23 it was the default state and I had to Alt+Tab to get some input. I couldn't manage to get any force feedback, at all. And the game is even blurrier than F1 22 with TAA+Sharpening (and F1 22 isn't the sharpest either). Menus are even more convoluted, getting into a quick time trial or single race is so far from the main menu. And same as F1 22, quitting the game on PC takes like 2 minutes, alternatively I have to end the task in task manager.

I was excited because even in the simracing community it has a pretty good reputation, especially compared to 22, but it's technically such a mess. Refunded. I cannot endorse the F1 games anymore. Every year they are getting worse around the release. Might pick it up eventually after all the patches are out with a deep sale. I guess Steam reviews don't mean much, I often enjoy "mixed" games yet this "very positive" one is a mess.

Steam reviews are made by people that can actually have fun with any game. People here unfortunately don't.

Unfortunately? It's more like companies allow games to be released with such problems because people eat up everything.

Not sure if you meant that I should have fun Alt+Tabbing until I get input (without FFB), or just jab at the community here. (To be fair people here are often worshipping terrible video games, which is kind of the opposite to your point.)

You're probably messing with something.

Not sure what I would have been messing with, I knew that behaviour from 22 (games before didn't have it and except for 14 and 15 I played every one of them). In 22 I had my pedals and wheel as a separate USB connection initially, but I had to connect my pedals to the wheel because if I Alt+Tabbed once, then I either had wheel or pedal, not both until I restarted the program. In 23 I default don't have the wheel input. When I started the game the first time I couldn't bind anything from the wheel. Restarted the sim, nothing. Remembered to Alt+Tab from 22, then suddenly it worked. Alt+Tabbing again took it away. During my suffering with 23 I even tried 22 where it worked, FFB as well, as well as in sims I have installed. So please, excuse me, but I am not messing with anything, it is broken by default and having to mess with it so it somewhat works is just unacceptable.

(Using T300 + T-LCM by the way)

Same here, don't have any kind of problems.
