Automobilista V1.2 + Racin´ USA Expansion Pack Pt1

There has been some awesome content emerging on the ever improving Automobilista 2 and this update looks to continue the that trend. Add to that, some pretty nifty updates and you have yourselves a pretty tasty Version 1.2

From Renato Simioni at Reiza Studios the press release for Version 1.2. Automobilista 2 V1.2 is finally here, and arriving with its massive set of improvements and new features also comes the Racin´ USA Expansion Pack Pt1 !

Please read the release notes below for important information regarding this release.

V1.2 DEVELOPMENT NOTES

V1.2 introduces the Custom Championhip feature, allowing users to create their own championship seasons for single player racing. Please note that this feature is still in beta and will receive further development in the coming weeks.

This update also introduces Real Weather, coupled with the possibility of customizing the date for your event, including historical real weather data since January 1st 1979 for all locations in the game.

With the option to customize event date, users can now also customize the season the event will be run under. Please be aware that the visual differences between seasons (Summer / Fall / Winter / Spring) are currently restricted to tracks that received the necessary art updates - these are Daytona, Laguna Seca, Bathurst, Brasilia, Campo Grande, Cascavel, Curitiba, Curvelo,Spielberg, Nurburgring & Spa. All remainng tracks will receive seasonal foliage in our next update later this month.

Note that the new seasonal foliage will eventually add substantial texture load to all tracks, so you may want to plan ahead for a big update and potentially 10-15 extra gb of disk space.

The build also features extensive physics & AI updates, along with some preliminary work to enhance gamepad gameplay.

Here are some other important considerations to take into account as you prepare for the release of AMS2 v1.2 and the Racin´ USA Pack:
  • Setup reset - We strongly recommend users to delete the content of their Documents\Automobilista 2\savegame\(profile number)\tuningsetups , as some old setup may cause game breaking issues with the latest physics developments. Beware also that existing championship seasons will also be invalidaded with the championship mode updates. It is NOT necessary to reset your graphical on controller configurations.
  • Disk Space - Users are advised to ensure they have 10-15GB worth of disk space in their AMS2 install to accommodate the addition of seasonal foliage sets for all tracks.
  • Time Trial - While a more thorough evaluation will be made following release to verify its necessity, it´s almost certain that a new and hopefully definitive reset to existing Time Trial leaderboards will be required as the physics and LiveTrack updates will render times set with some cars as of v1.1.4.5 unnatainable, and older setups obsolete.
  • Shadow Updates - V1.2 introduces revised shadow casting parameters, with increased resolution and enhanced cascading which should generally result in improved shadow quality overall, but also some side effects and minor performance hit under the same settings - generally settings have been bumped a quality level so if you previously were running shadows on Ultra and experience a performance hit with v1.2.0.0, consider switching to High setting as it should still provide improvements relative to V1.1.4.5 Ultra - same if you were running High and switching to Medium in V1.1.5.0, and Medium to Low. If you experience crashes while running shadows on ULTRA, consider switching to HIGH.
Racin´ USA Purchase Options

Users interested in picking up the Racin´ USA Pt1 Pack have 4 ways of acquiring the contents of the pack:
  • Racin´ USA Pt1 as standalone - self explanatory, buying Pt1 separately from any other DLC or Expansion available or to be released for AMS2
  • Racin´ USA Full Expansion Pack - This Pack includes Part 1 along with parts 2 and 3 to be released later in 2021
  • 2020-2022 Season Pass - if you buy this or already have it, you are all set in terms of AMS2 DLCs all the way to the end of 2022
  • Premium Expansion Packs - this will be a new option targetted for those who bought the Premium Track Pack, essentially expanding that purchase into a full 2020-2022 Season Pass (NOT YET AVAILABLE ON STEAM, SHOULD BE ON MONDAY JUNE 7TH)

meh...still nothing to support mod community. Nothing to customize experience. I had to drive f-ultimate with 3 alpha tauri (if you are lucky enough to get some liveries), 2 daigneault, Mafra and Neminen...really man, AMS was another level

Once upon a time, there was a little brazilian studio called REIZA which became a big one.
After several iteration of good racing games, the studio was able to manage all the complexity to gather in a new game all we can expect as sim racers to have the best immersion: graphics, sounds, diverse contents and so many features.
After having fall in love with my steering wheel, my H-shifter and my brake load cell, my sim to go is now Automobilista2.
Congratulations to all the team and all the people behind the scene which contributed to the development, not forgetting the community of beta testers who perceive the value of that sim and give their time and expertize.
The emerging sim has now taken off, thank you REIZA

Same here.
I had a wow moment in the bus stop flip flap in daytona with the DPI

when it lost and regain grip. I never feeled this with AC, R3E or Iracing.

Only Rfactor can do that (and perhaps ACC). It shows a new level for the ffb.

By the way incredible rain effects.

I have to admit, I've been quite negative about AMS2 so far, but this update may have finally changed my mind about it. It's probably the best content they released for the game so far. Both the cars and the tracks are fantastic. Coupled with the real weather update it's amazing.

I ran a 24 hour race on Daytona condensed to 45 minutes yesterday with DPi, GTE and GT3 and it was a blast. Throughout the night it rained twice, only light rain but enough to make everyone switch to wet tyres. As I was coming to pits on slicks, barely keeping it on track on the inlap, I suddenly hit a puddle, the car aquaplaned and I did a 360 right on the pit entry. IMO no sim is better than AMS 2 in respect to rain / wet track.

I also did a race on Long Beach using just GTEs, huge amount of fun. The track is very detailed, you can feel all the bumps. Haven't tried Laguna Seca yet.

I definitely recommend this DLC to everyone.

Great update, apart from Laguna Seca I'm not in love with the new tracks chosen as there are many USA tracks I prefer over Daytona & Long Beach, I hope they add some of these in the other parts. That's all personal preference, I know people love those tracks.
Adding endurance cars in a sim with 24/7 makes total sense. Padding the GT4s out adding the M4 is a great addition. I just hope to see some more historic GT & touring cars, I was really hoping AMB2 would be filling the 'GT legends' hole i have. Maybe they have a 5 part historic DLC planned who knows.
The update is very large with all the other improvements & features. The jury is still out on the FFB for me i need to test, it seems they make improvements to it or handling that effects it, most of the updates & it always feels a bit meh in comparison to every other sim. Same with the handling. I feel they are finding their way with the tyre model still.
Be interesting to see if the Ai is any better transitioning to dry>wet as it made the Ai pointless in this situation.

SuperMonacoGP
Premium
so, granted ams2 has by far the best visuals of all sims..I struggle to find other reasons to like it. did some laps with the merc gt3 at daytona, the car seems to have a somehow decent dynamic on the infield section of the lap, but when it's time to throw the car into the chicane of the oval section, it all comes apart. the front end bites in the same way at 50 and at 240kmh, with the difference that if at slower speed there is some feel of the lateral weight shift, at higher speed it's a vague and detached mess. sure with the latest update there has been some degree of improvement but the overall driving experience still feels quite disappointing. to conclude, is ams2 a fun title? yes, and a gorgeous one to look at. is it realistic as a simulation? kinda.

I can heavily recommend the silver raw "rfuktor" (i think it's called) custom ffb files. At least on a DD wheel it feels very good. Much better than default imo

definitely a good step forward. i love the different seasons this should be in every sim by default. ffb has definitely improved although not yet at the level of rf2.. it's definitely an improvement. I've also been critical the last year, but keep it up Reiza! thanks for your hard work
