Automobilista 2 Version V1.3.8.1 Released

The latest monthly update for Reiza Studios popular title Automobilista 2 has been released.

Following on from a successful Release Candidate update early last week, the latest content, physics upgrades and quality of life fixes were officially rolled out on Friday 1st July. We take a look at some of the highlights of this release below.

The Argentinean Pack

The main highlight amongst the considerable raft of changes in the latest release is undoubtedly the Argentinean Pack. This track pack is free for all owners of the base game and contains a mixture of tracks previously released by Reiza Studios alongside a completely new track.

The first circuit returning to the fold is Buenos Aires. In fact, there is a grand total of 6 layouts available comprising of a technical infield and ultrafast straights. Each one offering a great driving experience and some fun racing opportunities.

Another returnee is the Cordoba circuit, except this time, we have two additional layouts. These were added with the official release on Friday. The flowing layouts are great for some of the older stock cars which slide through the corners.

The other circuit to be added is Termas de Rio Hondo. With its wide, sweeping layout, this track has hosted MotoGP and WTCC events in its recent history. It is ideal for everything from GTs to single seaters and features some great overtaking opportunities.

Physics updates

As has been the case in the last few updates, the team at Reiza studios have been hard at work in producing some updated physics for some of the car classes currently featured in-game.

For this latest update, the improved physics have been rolled out for the Group A touring cars, BMW M1 Procar, Sprint Race, Mini JCW and F3 single seaters and many more. Each of these new cars are now feeling even better to drive than before with improved handling and road feel.

There are also other physics updates to tyre and drivetrain models for a variety of cars along with other tweaks to further raise the handling bar as the title seeks to fully utilise the potential of the Madness engine.

These Argentinean tracks are really fun. They have a very local "grassroots motorsports" vibe to them which I really enjoy.

AI seems to be improved as well, at least according with the 30 minutes race I just did with the Group A cars on Spa 93. They were making all sorts of nice agressive moves on me and eachother, sometimes going side by side for a bit while still being clean. Of course this improvement might not apply across all classes and tracks... yet.

The Mercedes 190E was a riot to drive. This is the kind of car that kinda forces you to learn proper pedal technique unless you want to Tokyo drift every corner, but it was very fun and it felt really engaging to drive, with great FFB.

Still can't see why Reiza are yet again prioritizing this type of content over delayed paid for DLC. Isn't this thinking just delaying things more. Stop delivering what you haven't promised and start delivering what you have. This content ahead of USA Pack ovals, not delivering Classic SPA because you now want to include an updated new SPA. People who look forward to ovals are not wanting more road tracks, people who look forward to Classic don't want updated new tracks. Just add the new content after your promised content that you took our money for. Very quickly losing faith in AMS2 delivery philosophy when we still can't play the game as your promises intended.

The 3 new tracks are for free, all AMS2 players also paid for the main game, most of them like new content too, maybe you forgot that? It's not only the DLC's that are paid for, we also paid for the main game and new content is always welcome for that too. And you can read on the official Reiza forum that the oval's are very very near and the old spa probably too. Maybe there are reasons which you cannot oversee why the old spa is delayed and why the oval's follow after this and the Argentinian tracks are released first. And it's not the end of the world, I don't get your frustation tbh.

I bought AMS2 and its Season Pass so long ago that I can't even remember what I paid at the time--and everything released by Reiza in 2022 (and beyond) feels like its free.

If you read the development update, you would know that they've mostly been working on the physics recently, in order to add new content afterwards. There's no point in adding a lot of new stuff if the base of the game still needs improvement.

The big update coming at the end of the month will be version 1.4 and by then, the game should be pretty much in its final state as far as the driving is concerned. With 1.4, they will release the 3rd part of the USA DLC. When v. 1.4 is ready, then they will add classic Spa, among others.

I tried version 1.3.8 and there is a great improvement in the game experience. I can only imagine what 1.4 will be like.

In the good old days we used to burn heretics. Luck you, we are living very progressive times.

I haven't read the development update and I trust Reiza on their work. They always delivered. And ot makes a lot of sense to focus on the physics before adding content. Mastering the madness engine beast must be the harder task and achieving this goal asap is the best way to ensure a bright future for the game with new content. Imho, this is the best way to go, I can wait the content as I know.it will be in a much better state when released, than the base contenr was at ams2' launch.

Very progressive of you. You were surely a leading light from the inquisition. Must have been difficult living so long with your lost virtue, your God must really love you.

The secret of a long and health life is to sacrifice kids for Moloch. Would be better if we also could sacrifice those who blaspheme against our beloved videogames. You know that we can't always get what we want, but if we try sometimes, we get what we need.

I'm having a lot of fun with AMS2, I must say. Hoping custom livery capabilities expand eventually, but the gameplay has been a blast! Just hoping they can figure out the whole issue with how twitchy and inconsistent brake pedals are.

Yea, I still don't get why this isn't addressed. The brakes lock up ridiculously easily (running load cell) on AMS2 but I never have this problem on AC, iRacing or rF2.

The ovals are now promised for the end of July, then a bonus 4th USA pack in 2023. Is that then more USA content that was missed yet again. The classic Spa is in the second semester so when ever. Continually word smithing their delays. This is not frustration but considered criticism of the prioritization of content that they promised, not just content you would like to come because you bought the main game. We all did that.

My message has been removed with no reason, btw the problem with this game it is also a very small amount of drivers per day. On a Friday at 7 PM were 51 people in 10 rooms.
Hope it will increase in the future
