Automobilista 2 has been updated to version 1.3.1.x, plus part 2 of the Racin' USA DLC has been released and offered for free until December 6th for owners of the game.

Reiza Studios has released another update and subsequent hotfix for Automobilista 2, building on the major physics and force feedback updates that came in version 1.3 last week.

Along with the update, most of the second part of the Racin' USA DLC has been released. The first part of the DLC included GTE and DPi cars, plus the Laguna Seca, Long Beach and Daytona tracks. The second part currently includes six varieties of CART cars from the late 1990's, plus the Cleveland Burke and Watkins Glen tracks. Road America will be added to the DLC in time.

Reiza has made this a free weekend for the Racin' USA DLC, so owners of AMS2 who haven't purchased the DLC can try it out for free until December 6th.

The changelog for this update is listed here. We'll take a deeper look at the new content soon, but for now be sure to share your own thoughts on this update and the new cars and tracks in the comments below

I've had AMS2 since the release, with all DLC. All due to the Reiza fundraiser(why not fundracer...) years ago. I still haven't even installed the game once.

However, a new game with Cleveland... I think I must install it pretty soon!!

Because the reason is somewhat hard to figure out. People think that once the sim updated to get correct handling ,get correct physic etc, it will attract new players. LOT of updates didn't change the player base number so much. There are 2 possible other big issues.

First, the content are not interesting people OR the content are interesting people but the way they are presented or sold make them unattractive. Yes I agree that there are a bunch of people that are very satisfied of the actual contents but unfortunately they are not enough.

Second, it's a clone concept (not technically but conceptually) of at least 2 games but clearly not taking advantage of the cloned features.
Conceptually It's a PC2 clone but it's also an ACC clone. A PC2 clone in a way it has lot of content and most of them are unfinished. Conceptually a kind of a cheap Forza version . PC2 could survive with that because it was few years ago and the market was somewhat more tolerant and not saturated . AMS2 people often forget to consider the release context before comparing AMS2 to an another sim.

An ACC clone in a way it hopes that it will follow the same path from missed launch to big glory. Kunos at the ACC launch period already had huge experience in many areas like technical, marketing, communication, art, relations etc. Reiza seems to be more axed on technical things and struggles with the rest. Same causes same effect, different causes different effects...Also Kunos is a technology provider, Reiza is a technology user. Kunos creates its own game engine, Reiza uses madness engine that's a big difference. If we take a recent example , the new praised Ranking tool in AMS2 is just a port from PC2 at least conceptually...and seems to be very basic and linked to multiplayer mode which add lot of limitations. The ranking tool in ACC is very advanced and also available in single player mod.

I'm not an exclusive Kunos fan boy , I'm just trying to look at things objectively.
Lol, an ACC clone? this makes zero sense

I seriously don't understand why the player base is so small
Well, for me (I don't know others) the main reason I leave the multiplayer after two-three attempt to join a server is the weird configuration of majority of servers. Two of them: practice time 300-600 minutes and "no join in the middle of the race". It is a PITA to stay and wait for race to finish to be able to join.
In other sims it is very easy to find servers with Q: 10-15 minutes, R:5-10 laps.

CART baybeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!! :p

Have been on the fence about buying AMS2, despite its progress, since I still really enjoy AMS1. If my wallet will allow it, this may well change that, since I'd love to support any developer putting out officially-supported 90s CART content.

May be my english is bad but i've tried to explain it in my post...makes zero sense if you didn't read
I read your post but honestly, it doesn't make any kind of sense to say that AMS2 is a clone of ACC. After all, the content and idea behind both games are VERY different

Both games had a rough start and tried to fix their problems (and add more content) with the updates that came after launch. But that is not enough to say that one is a clone of the other.

Unfortunately, the industry model right now appears to be exactly that, the game is launched with a lot of problems that end up being fixed in the updates that are released throughout the game's life cycle (not trying to justify, I'm just pointing it out).

Yep, by his logic all nearly all games are clones of eachother as this is currently how most games are released lol

CART is just awesome! By far my favourite cars in any racing sim, AMS CART Extreme and GSCE CART98 have finally had a worthy successor!

Just had a quickie 10 lap AI race in Laguna Seca, where I've had countless laps with these beasts in AMS and GSCE, and it was a blast. It felt familiar immediately, but now with gorgeous graphics and VR in my trusty old Rift.

Everyone who loved those mods really should get AMS2 and these addons. I can't wait the awesome painters creating us a realistic skin pack and hopefully real AI pilots too!

Enhanced gamepad support should at least double online activity.

Some spillover from Forza Horizon 5's 10 million playerbase should naturally occur, and people want something to fill the void before GT7 releases.

I got lost in the release notes. Reiza announced the option to edit ai names and skills attributes. Is that already available?

Thank you Reiza for allowing us to try the new DLC content, Watkins Glen is nothing new to me, but I do not think I ever drove the Cleveland Burke track before.
Always nice to try a new track.
I hope, letting players try before buying, is going to be a thing, as it helps in deciding if it is interesting or not.

D
I can’t stop playing ams2 right now. I only need some organized races like in rre3 and I’ll barely play AC1 again. Great work Reiza
