Automobilista 2 | v1.3.7.1 Released to Steam

Automobilista 2 May 2022 Update Released.jpg
A new update for Automobilista 2 has been released to Steam, bringing more cars forward to the latest tire model and driveline physics.

AMS2's monthly updates tend to be either content-rich or physics-focused, and the May, 2022 update is the latter. The significant improvements to the feel of vehicles in the sim that have been achieved through driveline elasticity and tire carcass refinements are being applied to more cars with each update.

This month's update notably focuses on various formula cars in the title. F-Vintages, F-Retros, F-Classics, F-V12, F-V10, F-Reiza, and F-Ultimate cars have all been improved, meaning that roughly 60 years of Formula 1 inspired vehicles can be better enjoyed.

For those who have struggled to find appropriate levels of AI performance or consistent behavior, updates have also been applied to single player racing that should address issues faced when driving the formula cars, Super V8, GT3 or 2019 Stock Cars.

While this update won't dominate headlines, it is a nice step forward for a lot of the content overdue for improvements in this racing sim. Let us know your thoughts on this update or anything else Automobilista 2 related in the comments below.

Anyone knows if the demo gets the same updates?
Installed my rig again and played mostly ac, forza 4 for casual fun, and acc.
Tried yesterday the demo after reading in vr its one off the best looking games.and must say i agree, even ac with sol... but the force feedback ,don't have a connection with the game, in demo a basic volkwagen gti, wheels squeek like crazy and no feedback, like driving on ice , can change wheel direction without any feedback, abs doesn't give feedback, and so goes on the list off not liking it? Tried custom ffb, and yes wheel feels heavier but thats it....
The demo is its own thing, that I think is a crossover with some Brazilian Top Gear-esque series that focuses on VWs? Brasil has a different culture I suppose... not one that represents the actual sim well however unfortunately

This title has made massive steps forward and still has loads more steps to make.

After buying Raceroom last week I can now say I have every sim available and none one is perfect but all have strengths and weakness in various areas.

Everyone has their gripes.... Mines multiplayer.. RF2 and AMS2 would be the best sims for me if multiplayer was there... I can't see no hope for Rf2 MP.

Hoping before the end of the year we start to see MP get more attention.

If not Rennsport is the last hope.
Yes over the last 6 months the cars are now starting to actually feel like cars. I was never of the opinion that the Madness Engine was only arcade capable and I felt if Reiza could do their thing it would be the ultimate sim. It might be some day but right now there are just a lot of little things that just make it frustrating.
It just feels like it will be another year before we see significant upgrades in areas that desperately need it. I don't think handling needs a lot of changes from this point, but there still are gremlins in the game that can frustrate. As I said above the game at initial release should have been what it is now.

I hope that in the future they add the possibility of safety car and virtual sc

You would think that is coming and I have concerns that they are releasing oval content without actual racing rules being in place. It will not be well received if it is just a few ovals and a "have fun guys" to go along with it

Agree with much of what has already been mentioned ... for my part, as long as I stick with the vehicles on Reiza's updated tires list, AMS2 has increasingly won my favor when deciding which sim to drive. Among the updated cars, I have personally found a consistent driving experience with minimal fiddling of settings. AI drivers seem mildly improved since the recent update (the so-called "AI calibration pass")--might be a placebo, but, then again, I have never encountered a sim that I did not have to modify my driving in some manner to accomodate idiosyncratic AI shortcomings.

Moreover, whenever I fire up one of the many alternatives out there, I am quickly reminded of their unique arrays of problematic issues. Currently, AMS2 is only realizing a fraction of its potential--Reiza only recently sorted out its driveline and tire physics, for heaven's sake--but Reiza's tireless efforts to deliver an ever-increasingly engaging driving and racing experience across multiple genres keeps me interested and invested in its development.

I would say out of all the sims i get the most active feedback in AMS2. So i would say maybe something wrong with how you have it setup. Maybe the car is not the best to be testing as its a road car with little ffb irl.
Thanks man =)
but a demo is mostly to give you an idea about the game, with this car they don't give me the feeling, hey buy me please ...

don't know about the setup in the meaning off, tried different setups from fanatec to reiza forums information, none off them give the right feeling i have like AC,
but like you said possible this car?
Maybe you could try that one out and give a feedback about that please?

thanks in advance

Reiza are doing a really good job with this title.
There have been lots of updates since the initial release...each one adding something better.
My only wish would be to be able to remove or resize the nuisance notifications.
Those are too big and stay on screen for too long of an interval.

I find the open Wheelers to be the most engaging part of the game, So I think those combined with the historic tracks are what keeps me coming back to the game.

Also glad to see a title taking some interest in the Aussie V8's, granted its a bit of a mashup as its only the one generic car shape but its alright with a skin pack installed.

The plan is to drive nothing but the V8's for the next two weeks.

I just tried the demo VW polo and it was very underwhelming for me compared to the other vehicles I have driven in the game. I didn't try and mess with the settings though. Reiza might have missed a trick not making a more lively car available in the demo.

Just noticed something odd.

Why do the 80s F1s have slow/fast dampers and 3rd springs? These developments only made their way into them in 1990, and mid nineties respectively.

And more shocking even, the group C cars have them in game too!

the demo is apparently an old build also. The game has had some important updates since the demos come out.

LOL.. My version of the game does not have 3rd spring for Gr C and neither the fast dampers. Did you do any reset to default when requested in the past updates?

Are you using steps instead of units in the setup menu? (switchable in the gameplay->display settings)

This should be an UI glitch, the cars very likely don't feature 3rd elements at all.

Is that screenshot of the sauber?

What about the formula retro gen 3, or the formula classics?

EDIT: and what you mean reset to defaults? Delete the game, or delete the setups?

Yes that is Sauber.
Try first what Crimson suggested to move to units instead o clicks for the menus.
If not you can reset to default, if not delete setup folder and last try re-installing if nothing else.
Seems like a UI glitch that you are experiencing

Reiza should remove that demo immediately. It's the worst car in the game and doesn't represent the game at all. The demo costs Reiza a lot of sale for sure.. Reiza is great at making racesims but not at marketing, that's 100% clear.

Every new update along with positive comments tempts me with the hope the game is going to somehow deliver driving feel ‘nirvana’. Every time I update and drive all the new content. Every time I turn it off disappointed.

To me it still feels like an arcade game.

am i the only one who dosent like the car sounds , pretty much all cars ??
I agree. I've tested the v10 gen 2 and the first thing that came to my mind is that it sounded like fart Mostly AMS2 cars have poor sound but that's relative if only play AMS2 so it's the best.

About the handling i was not impressed by the updated cars at all at least this v10 gen2. I don't feel the road. Similar car is very enjoyable with the other sim. AMS2 FFb also has some rattling, that make the experience worse. Most of the other sims has smooth FFB . AMS2 ffb is like using square signals for road bumps. Also more and more, I can't stand the AMS2 cartoonish graphic and colors. When you play multiple sim in rotation it's very obvious . This sim should have image processing control and better indirect lighting. It's only beautiful in sunset lighting with few clouds
