Automobilista 2 Updated to Version 1.3.5.2

AMS2 Hotfix.jpg
A supplementary update has been released for Automobilista 2, bringing a short list of fixes to the user interface, various cars, and the Galeao track.

Reiza Studios used their Easter weekend to release a small update to Automobilista 2. The sim received a patch to complement the recent major update which added 2022 F1-inspired cars, a new track in the Galeao Airport circuit, and more.

One aspect of this patch was improving the user's experience with ERS in the Formula Ultimate Gen 2 cars, which take heavy influence from the current year of Formula 1 vehicles. These cars utilize various electric energy deployment modes which can be used to set better qualifying times, overtake opponents, or simply maintain a consistent driving feel.

The Galeao Airport circuit received a number of changes in this update. The temporary track, located in Rio, was host to the Galeao Grand Prix on April 10th, and Reiza has updated the track to better match what fans would have seen when watching the real Stock Car Pro Series cars compete there one week ago.

A number of cars were also updated with small changes, which you can read about in the changelog below. The "dirt map" for the Uno cars is perhaps a sign of something to come from Reiza, as the previous Automobilista title did feature racing on dirt courses, though nothing has been confirmed for AMS2 to date.

Let us know in the comments below what you are racing in Automobilista 2 these days.

V1.3.5.2 CHANGELOG

GENERAL
  • Added a 1s delay before ERS 'auto' mode is considered settled enough to be used as the new base mode for cycling mode (an overshoot into 'auto' now means a navigation up the stack will select 'off' if done within 1s)
  • Added ERS deployment mode and clutch state information to shared memory
UI & HUD
  • Added ERS Auto mode indication to HUD
  • Fixed ICM issue that only allowed selection of the first two pit strategies
AUDIO
  • F-Retro G3 TE: revised cockpit engine & turbo; assigned proper interior AI sound
TRACKS
  • Galeao: Revised track according to actual event references; adjusted track elevations between T1 and T2, replaced the start light gantry to match one used in actual event; update static concrete barriers, walls and dynamic cones; adjusted AI collision corridors at the chicane
VEHICLES
  • Uno (all cars): Added dirt map; Adjusted driver animation fingers position; Added vibrating bits on the cockpit; Adjusted the shift gaiter rigging
  • Corvette C3 - Livery override folder added

oh so I must have dreamed those races I had in the Mitsubishi Evo on those RallyX courses. :p

I'm loving the new content. I think I missed when this was first added, but it was nice to see the 2022 Stock Cars get a Championship (I love a good Championship). Keep up the great work, Reiza!

Reiza, I beg you, please fix the ai refuel issue.

(Which is the fact the AI makes countless pitstops in races that require refueling. Apparently the AI never starts with a full tank and never refuel completely.)

The progress of this sim had been great, but this issue is way too annoying, deeply hurts the single player experience and honestly doesn't seem too difficult to solve

Maybe best to post your concern in Reiza's own forums? Dont think they look at individual RD complaints...

Also, its been noted that the AI needs calibration for a proper race, are you running full race weekends or quick races?

Absolutely...This doesn't even sound like something too difficult to fix compared to the herculean tasks he's been working on.

It was nice to see them finally add the 21 &22 season to the championship, sadly the 22 season is just a copy and paste of the 21 season and doesn't incorporate the new track they added or follow the 22 RL track schedule?

Ai have improved a bit but need a complete overall haul, from fuel strategies to being Racey as the current ai just give up once you make a move on them and drop off several seconds once you pass them.

In-game sliders to customize the ai attributes would be a great addition, as opposed to the current file editing.

Overall the title has made some decent improvement, especially the updated tire model on the select cars in the last build.

Galeão track update with the crest on the straight and the dirt mapping are a nice edition.
One graphic edition I'd like to see them add, is the red dust being kicked up at the start of the race....pretty sure AMS1 had this effect on several tracks?

I'm really enjoying the Stockcar's and how they feel and handle.

Regarding the dirt mapping... the upcoming Adrenaline DLC was confirmed to be dirt and off-road content.
Tho no details on the actual content and licenses.
This is from the steam season pass:

  • Adrenaline - Pack featuring several off-road & Extreme Motorsports cars and tracks
Really looking forward to this DLC as the engine offers really good loose surface physics, tho I hope they expand the content greatly from what we had in AMS1

Need an option in the server to stop it blocking players from joining when there are fewer than minutes left in qualifying and at all during the race. On the verge of abandoning AMS2 altogether for my league since this has ruined our race nights on multiple occasions now. I understand the reason for having it in the case of public servers, but for leagues it should most definitely be an option and the fact that it isn't is becoming a serious deal breaker.

Galeao track is like a small version of Cleveland, though nice to race with slower cars too.

In their forum, I have already posted this as a bug and I also have a dedicated post in which I demonstrate multiple tests/attempts to fix/workaround it. The feedback (from other players) is that it is a well-known problem. Plus, IIRC, this problem existed in PC2.

I always configure the full weekend and I usually do the qualifying (without skipping to the end) and race. Sometimes I also go through the entire practice period. It doesn't seem to help.

Cheers.

I admire Reiza for their commitment and the direction it's heading to with all different updates. It felt brilliant in 1.2, now in 1.3 it's even better. Looking forward to 1.4 and so on :D

Yes, it's unpolished but a real gem nonetheless. It's strange as people have lived with AC quirkiness for so long (remember the times prior to CM/SOL anyone?) and yet AMS2 cannot get the player headcount it really deserves.

no it is not.
Every car has a dirt map to simulate the growing dirt coming from marbles , dust etc.
Originally they used the dirt map from pCARS2, but this was a bit rough.
In the last months many new dirtmaps were added to different cars. Now they did it for the Uno. Thats all, mate

If the server is stable, then kickass people to be there as early as possible.
In a league there are rules and one of the rule is "don't arrive in the last seconds" :)
But i agree in some accident cases.
Its a horror when people fall from the server and can't come back.

Very strange indeed, many people are still baised by the engine or by what they've heared from other people that are biased by the engine I think. Because when you've driven the latest version then it's imo impossible to say that it's not great. Imo AMS2 is miles ahead the competion at this moment, especially in combination with VR and DD dailed in. The driving experience is just on an another level.

Ask you launch the topic. I may have a explication according to my observations. I hope that they have some elements of objectivity.

1. AC had a different maintenance strategy. The devs first worked hard on the most most important features of a racing sim, the physic and the handling until it became convincing not even good but wihout any glaring issues like AMS2 had. Not perfect but enough to allow people enjoy the sim. After all of that only started to focus on adding more new content.

>>>AMS2 somewhat have done the inverse. AMS2 carried it's physic and handling issues for almost 2 years. Long enough to upset a large number of players. Also long enough to keep potential new players away from it. Even worst, the new content amplified the sim weaknesses. Yes we can say that most of the sim are under development but the difference with AMS2 is that the small AMS2 community also went to war against the big sim racing community by justfying almost every single weakness of it here and there. From this was born an intensive AMS2 bashing which lasted months and months. Along with the handling issues and the expensive pricing , this is imho the main reason of the lack of growth. About the engine, I think if AMS2 was like the version 1.3 since the beginning no one would care about which engine is used by it.

2. Ac moddability is very special, it is moddable in a way the community can improve most of the aspect of it. In other words Kunos let the community finish many jobs in their place. And the community is in its biggest part OK with that. Yes! OK with it not being perfect ! AC is not only a racing simulator it's also a "simulator tuning" experience. AC is imperfect but allow people to customize it until they get their "own" custom version of it. So it's not only about driving enjoyment , but also about being proud of building something. AC quirkiness is an ingredient of people love for it.

>>>AMS2 is not moddable so players have zero control over it other than bug signaling on forums and waiting for the next release to check if they have been solved. At this point, the weakness tolerance toward the studio is lower. Also the closed Beta system is splitting the small player base in 2 , the players that are much closer to the devs and the normal players. They added an open beta option on steam lately but a bit too late imho.

3. AC had a generous price scheme since the beginning so they managed to get more sale / more players very quickly. Even ACC success is on part due to the same pricing strategy.

>>> AMS2 is expensive if you need standard sim racing experience like European tracks and cars, US content ,etc . Other than the very niche market, people are not really sensitive to the "lot of free brazilian" content argument otherwise we could get way more players now. Also the common argument used by people is also "it's cheaper" than iRacing...irreleveant comparison.
