2022 Formula One Sao Paulo Grand Prix

With just two races remaining in the 2022 Formula 1 season, the teams head to Brazil to take on one of the most historic and exciting circuits on the calendar.

Autódromo José Carlos Pace is the site of F1 racing action this weekend. Last year, Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen were in the midst of a fierce championship battle, and Brazil proved to be one of the most exciting races of that championship.

This year's race has no such uncertainty or drama, as Verstappen and his Red Bull team have been very much in control of the drivers' and constructors' championship for most of the season.

The Interlagos circuit, however, typically produces exciting racing action from the F1 grid, and this year should be no exception. Its long, DRS-enhanced start/finish straight gives drivers ample opportunity to set up overtakes into turn 1, and a second DRS zone follows just a few corners later.

The circuit has remained largely unchanged for the past 30 years, and its windy, hilly nature has been home to epic F1 memories such as Hamilton's last-to-first weekend in 2021, Verstappen's brilliant wet weather driving in 2016, and Ayrton Senna's unforgettable first home win in 1991 despite having only 6th gear by the end of the race.

This is a sprint race weekend, meaning that the race starting order will be decided with a shortened race on Saturday. The weather is looking unkind all weekend, with rain in the forecast for all three days of the grand prix.

Could the weather make for interesting results this weekend? Who do you think will take the win on Sunday? Let us know in the comments below.

Great lap from Magnussen! Nice to have an unusual polesitter.

I feel for Leclerc. Nothing is going to change at Ferrari. If a person/team is responsible for stategy for years and you still mess up regularly and are not able to learn from your mistakes, you are not able to change to a strategy team that works flawlessly. Ferrari is not planning to replace people so nothing will change in the way the strategy team operates.
Agreed, why Binotto is prioritizing 2023 car over failings on the grid agnostic to the car (which has been proven to be quick) is surprising.
They are a disorganised mess at times.

The fact is, Ferrari need an Iron hand with a carrot in it.
OK, they split strategies, but Charles knew the track conditions and should not have gone for a second lap, Enzo would have had goat puppies if he was still alive.

George, you're trying too hard to be 'Mr Saturday' too many mistakes are creeping in, you're good enough to be a World Champion against the best, but not like this.

KMag, Fanbloodytastic.

Really enjoyable qualifying session.
Well-earned pole for Kevin.
Great effort from Lando considering how he was the day before.
Good 3rd from George. I forgive him his mistake at turn 4. He again called the tune re tyres, telling the team to move from used reds to new before the rain.
Ferrari keystone cops again.

Happy Birthday Gene Haas!

The last thing he could of imagined for a 70th birthday gift.

Kudos to Haas and KMag on getting pole and on the second side of the coin Ferrari management is just embarrassing.

Good sprint race

Too bad KMag couldn't scrap together a few more points. On a positive note, no 1st lap tears, no meatball flag :)

GJ Mercs! Russel takes advantages of his quali Hussle :p

WTF again Stroll....

MV on mediums was not the best decision, if not for Ferrari, might be the biggest F-up of the weekend so far

Alonso can't seem to catch a break

Albon needs to try yet another hair dye for better luck

Mick at least redeemed himself a bit

3-way fight next year?

Great sprint race! Well-earned win by George with clever race-craft. Robust overtake by Carlos but I had no problem with it. Good climb to 3rd by Lewis. Poor driving by Stroll. Argy-bargy between Alpine drivers. Point for Kevin and Haas. Schumacher from 20th to 12th.
Set up for what should be a great race tomorrow.

Looks like a Merc win tomorrow. They definitely had the fastest racecar today in the sprint, but not to take away from George's win, he had the hardest overtake and got it done.

Stroll needs to watch a few races from the comfort of a hospitality suite to reinforce what the team is supposed to be trying to achieve.
You cannot simply push anybody....least of all your teammate, this far off circuit.

Hamilton was fastest on the straight, with the car with the most drag on the grid. Either they took downforce or gave that boost to the engine for him to make a joke, in the race it won't

That was more of a racing incident. Toxic fanboy BS of both MV & LH fans is not appreciated.

Replay even looks like LH didn't give him enough room....

Lando also joining in. Another racing incident, but more LN's fault.
Stewards say different. Hamilton was ahead.
