Hello gents' !

I propose you another skinpack of my own, but this time it is a little bit different.

We are in 1969. Porsche wants a piece of the Le Mans cake shared between Ford and Ferrari, and he wants it bad. So for that, the Porsche team will create a monster. The 917. And it will go on the edge of bankrupty to fulfill his dream.
3 cars were aligned to race at Le Mans, and 1 reserved : the number 12, driven by Richard Attwood and Vic Elford, the number 14 with Kurt Ahrens and Rolf Stommelen behind the wheel, a private team owned by John Woolfe who will drive his own car with the help of Herbert Linge, and the 15 as the reserved with Udo Schutz and Rudi Lins.

And the result was catastrophic.

The cars were highly unreliable and even worst, very unstable.
It was so unstable that the drivers, some very talented and experimented ones, were litterally afraid of it. Just imagine going down Les Hunaudières at 380 km/h in the dark, by night, through the fog, in a mad machine that you barely can control ?
The number 14, the starting leader, will retire on lap 148. The number 12, then leader, will also retire on sunday morning after 327 laps. And for the most tragic destiny, John Woolfe crashed his 917 just at the end of the first lap and unfortunatly lost his life in the accident.

A year later, Porsche will learn from, maybe, the biggest mistake of his career yet, and Richard Attwood, with the help of veteran Hans Herrmann, will bring back the win, first of many for Porsche.
The legend of the 917 didn't started in 1970 with a win. It actually started in 1969, just in a pretty bad and tragic way.

As I couldn't find a version of the 917 from 1969 for AC (not a surprise, it's not really the version people wants to remember), I will use the closest ones I got : Legion's Porsche 917 LH 1971, as the Porsche 917 was originally a long tail racing car, with the 917K short version arriving a year later.

4 liveries, as close as the real ones as I could, with drivers names, numbers and teams.

I obviously don't recommend to race it against other cars from 1969, as this version of the 917 would not reflect this year in particular, but it is up to you to avenge the "cursed crew" of Porsche's Le Mans history and let them have another chance, for a 1970 or 1971 custom edition...

To install, you should probably know already :
Drag and drop in CM, or unzip manually in AC folder.

Thank you Legion for this great car. You can find it on Legion's blog, google is your friend!

Hope you enjoy it.
Cheers !

Pray the lord, my friend, has he have come to us !
Iconic skins. Thanks for the history lesson. You refer to Porsche as a proper pronoun (rather than as the A.G.), but Ferry had little to do with the 917. The Ferdinand whose baby it was was Ferdinand Piëch. And the engineer who proposed the Kamm tail and the other aero 'improvements' a year later was Mark Donohue, who worked for Roger Penske, not the A.G.

Thanks for the review. To be fair, I wasn't talking about Ferdinand Porsche at all. Maybe it is because i'm french and not fluent in English, but it is pretty common for us frenchies to pronoun things, object or whatever. For exemple, a nice car would be "She's a beauty", Porsche worked hard become "He worked hard" or "They worked hard" it would be the same thing... I dunno if it's clear.

So, yeah. Sorry for the error ^^ But thanks for the history precision, it is always welcome ! :D
