Natural Graphics Mod 3.8

Optimised for best cockpit view experience. Also improves FPS

  1. Chris Kennedy
    Attempt to replicate what the eye sees rather than a camera, to get the best onboard view for driving rather than create photo-real external screenshots. No chromatic aberration, lens flares or erratic autoexposure. Saves approximately 15fps over the default filters.

    To install: Unzip to the root of your AC install folder, run JSGME and activate Natural Weather and optionally Ben Lee + WagnumPI Clouds, then select the Natural_Mod PP filter in game. Set saturation to 100% in graphics options and exposure is set to 100% (Page Up/Page down when on the track).
    Unzip to the root of your AC install folder, run JSGME and activate Natural Oculus Rift Filter, Natural Weather and optionally Ben Lee + WagnumPI Clouds, then select the default PP filter (default.ini is used regardless of what you set, unless you use Content Manager, in which case you should still select "default" and this filter will get used) and set saturation to 100% in graphics options.

    The mod has to overwrite default.ini due to this bug: http://www.assettocorsa.net/forum/i...er-selection-does-not-work-minor-issue.34560/

    Suggest disabling Crepuscular Rays in the launcher due to this issue: http://www.assettocorsa.net/forum/i...m-all-angles-rather-than-just-from-sun.34556/
    Natural Photomode is for screenshots only, has higher quality DOF effect (very demanding) and other tweaks. HC version = High Contrast
    Thanks to @Ben Lee and @WagnumPI for allowing me to include their clouds in this mod.
    With Assetto Corsa closed:
    -Open JSGME, disable the previous versions of Natural Weather/Natural Oculus Rift Filter etc., then right click and delete them.
    -Follow normal install instructions

    If you dont use JSGME... you should be able to work out what to do
    If you prefer a slightly warmer image, edit the ppfilter ini files and try these values at the end:

    COLOR_TEMP=6250
    WHITE_BALANCE=6500

    Decrease COLOR_TEMP or increase WHITE_BALANCE for more warmth

    Looking crisp !!!
    Thanx for your great work.

    For me this hint of you was very useful:

    "if you are using VR then selecting the default ppfilter should work if you installed the mod correctly."

    I am racing on a Sierra MAC Pro 5,1 / Win10 BootCamp / GTX770 4GB / TrinusVR / SteamVR / AC / PSVR setup. Your Mod runs without any disadvantage in fps !!!!!!! :)

    Later, Servus,

    I went against you and used the Photomode HC for regular driving and set to 250% exposure and used settings SATURATION=0.90, BRIGHTNESS=0.95, CONTRAST=1.02, COLOR_TEMP=6350, WHITE_BALANCE=6425. I will play with these settings more but, wow, finally I can drive and get bright sunlight and darker shadowed areas without the "overbrightness/overdarkness" that plagues the default settings despite some improvements over the history of the gasme's official updates. Still there's only so much you can do with 8-bit panels, but it's better than before. I kind of lucked out on discovering this improvement.

    Question: if i set weather to ideal in CM and i choose default PP filer, is that the right way to use this mod?
    1. Chris Kennedy
      Author's Response
      ideal conditions = always clear weather, so you only see one of the 7 sets, thats up to you.

      if you are using VR then selecting the default ppfilter should work if you installed the mod correctly. if you are using monitor then you should select natural_mod

    Amazing!! This did two things for me. First, and the most obvious, it has made the game look so much better. Second, a HUGE boost for me in VR. I run ASW and constant 45FPS which is fine for me, but I had to turn everything way down to keep that constant. Not anymore! I have so much head room now that I can have large grids with all settings maxed out and it doesn't skip a beat. Well, except for starts, but that's hard to avoid in VR. Anyway, thank you so much for this! Donation on the way!

    The visuals looks good, but sadly, no fps boost. stays the same as the other mods, any idea on what it might be? thanks

    What can i say. Nice and clear look without to much muddying it with excessive post process filtering. Personally I like the look more than original one. Saving FPS is a bonus on top of it :)

    Is is uninstallable?
    1. Chris Kennedy
      Author's Response
      yes, very easy, if you are not familiar with installing mods which overwrite game files, you can use JSGME (included) or content manager which will automatically backup and restore the files when you install/uninstall the mod
