2009 V8 Supercars Season

Hmmmnnn!!! I wonder if there has been some discussions behind the scenes about future Ford sponsorship of the 888 Team. I find it staggering that Ford have dropped "official" sponsorship of the most successful Ford Team in V8 Supercars. Maybe we will see this lunacy reversed in the future.

Looks like my guess was close to the mark.

Latest news from Australia, Team 888 have signed up to drive a Holden next season, so Jamie Whincup and Craig Lowndes have swapped camp.
Frankly, I'm not surprised, given the treatment they received from Ford, and I hope they carry their winning record across to Holden.

Whincup and Lowndes have also signed up for another three years with Team 888, so Whincup wont be going overseas for a while yet.

I've always been a fan of Craig Lowndes :good:

Good news for Craig and Jamie. (I would love for the BTCC and V8 supercars to do a 1 of race like they used to do, as that was brilliant to watch)

Now where talking.......finaly in a Holden.
Looking forward to next year.

I also read that there`s a rumour going around that the V8 cars gonna be replaced by WTCC looking cars with 2.0l engine`s.
This to reduce the cost in this financial crisis.
I say that gonna kill the sport if it does happen.

hmmm, dunno what to make of this, 888 have been a Ford team since they joined V8 Supercars and its a bit wierd since GM dropped them in BTCC that they're switching to a GM company in V8 Supercars.

But i see Ford pulled the factory backing for this year. So if they're a factory Holden team next year i suppose thats a logical decision from them.

V8 supercars needs a big shakeup.

I'm saying outside the square shakeup.
Additional manufacturers.
Cost cutting.

Hell, I find the Production Car Championship a lot more exciting and entertaining than V8s.

V8 Supercars 2009 Round 8 : QLD 300

The Queensland 300 will be held on the 23th of August.

QLD30.jpg

Track Facts:
Circuit Length 3.12 km
Race Direction Clockwise

Track record:
Qualifying John Bowe Ford Falcon 1m.09.2594
Race Garth Tander Holden Commodore 1m.11.0033

I think the circuits, while awesome, are just too tight for those big V8s.

I still love to watch but it is becoming more strategy based rather than racing based. If it wasn't for the slickness of Channel 7's coverage I probably wouldn't bother to watch so much, but Channel 7 do an awesome job.

This is a really great track, so the racing should be very interesting, especially since it brings the start of the enduro events with top drivers pairing up.
Not long to Bathurst now either. :woot2::aus:

Those are only the results of the first qualifying race. They have an "interesting" method of qualifying for the first enduro, the two drivers for each car drive a short race each, and the combined results determine the starting positions for the enduro tomorrow. Points are only counted for the championship in the enduro race.
After both qualifying races, the front row for the enduro are 1. Mark Winterbottom/Steven Richards and 2. Jamie Whincup/Craig Lowndes.
