WRC 9 is just around the corner, and one of the new locations set to make an appearance in the game is the New Zealand Rally - with some first preview imagery from the states now out in the public domain.

Set to release on console and PC in September this year, with next gen console release slated for a little while afterwards, the ninth instalment of the WRC game series (can you believe we are on number 9 already?!?) looks to be shaping up rather nicely over at KT Racing - so much so that the studio have decided to release some preview footage from an early build version of the title - and already it looks fantastic.

As per usual, the upcoming game enjoys the official licence of the FIA World Rally Championship, this time taking the opportunity to recreate the 2020 season that is currently on hold, and as such returning favourites such as the Safari Rally in Kenya, Rally Japan and the featured Rally New Zealand.

Roads in New-Zealand are amongst the most beautiful and the most appreciated in the Championship’s history.” tells Benoît Gomes, Lead Level Designer at KT Racing.

Famous for its fast chains of turns and a sustained pace rhythm, along with breath-taking landscapes, Rally New-Zealand truly offers a particular experience. A long preparation work allowed us to replicate, as closely as possible, the luxuriant vegetation, the light and unique ocean views, as well as the road’s topography and surfaces, mainly composed of gravel. We’re convinced that players will enjoy taking up this challenge as much as we did in WRC 9.” concludes Benoît Gomes.

WRC 9 Key Features:
  • 3 new rallies: Japan, New Zealand, Kenya
  • Over 50 official teams and their livery from the WRC, WRC 2, WRC 3 and Junior WRC
  • Over 15 bonus cars that have left their mark on the history of the WRC
  • Exclusive new game modes soon to be discovered

WRC 9 will release on Xbox One, PS4, PC this September 3rd.

We know that there will be at least 15 historic cars.

Even still these extra cars are all a bit same old story. No doubt they will be cars that are already in Dirt Rally 2. Personally i dont have a problem with the game in general its just the developers being lazy and copying each other that annoys me. WRC8 is actually a great game once youve got your controls dialled in.

How much do you want to bet if they added 15 brand new cars people would complain that one of the old ones from 8 didn't get added? then if they added 50 new cars people would find 1 that didn't get added and complain, no matter what developers do people complain regardless so it's not them being lazy, it's just not them adding 500 cars and 600 locations along with VR and every other option known to man, you need to draw the line somewhere.

No think about it. If they didnt keep making out that these cars that are in the current game are something new then there wouldnt be an issue. Its not even news worthy or worth them announcing as "exciting news". Its literally no different to them saying "we've got the 2020 Toyota Yaris WRC and the 2020 MSport Fiesta WRC."

Its not worth the announcement. Just include them in a video or something showcasing the stages like with the Yaris. Then people would know they're still in the game.

I remember they promised many historic cars for wrc 8 including hints at the Audi S1 Quattro(please correct me if i remember wrong) but eventually none of these made it into the game besides the alpine, the Mk2 Escort, Lancias and the Porsche/Proton/VW....

Nowhere does it say these are new cars, they are only announcing some legendary vehicles they've added to the game, so you don't think it's worth a small Facebook post yet it's worthy enough for them to make a video about? christ. You honestly think making a video is quicker and easier than one paragraph on Facebook?
