I do not think this is the most important thing to care about. We don't watch races for the girls (well, some might, but Google is you friend ), we watch it for the race. It's like going to to a Rock concert, to not watch the band, but the road crew or similar.

Maybe I'm too young, but I have never understood this car + grid girl = racing thing.
Now I want to state, I do not support these 3rd wave Feminists aka Feminazis.
I do support gender equality and equality for all races. I just wanted to state it, so no one think I am sexist. But considering there is war, corruption, torture, starvation and all kinds of injustice going on on Mother Earth, this seems like pretty pointless thing to waste energy on.

I think it's gone a little too far in regards how they are dressed, i'm just jealous in fact, have you seen what the grid girls wear at Knockhill?
It's aran jumpers, warm scarf and gloves and the umbrellas they hold to keep the ellements off the motorcycles riders last 30 seconds in the nice summer gale force winds.

It's a huge difference between having a bunch of girls, standing around looking pretty, so teenage boys can go home and fap, just because they saw a girl in a skirt, than severing food for hungry spectators.

I have never been to a larger race event, but those smaller ones I have been into, there are sometimes this huge gap between the events/races. So having tents, carnivals and live music is a way to kill the time.

Now, don't get me wrong, I like females.
But it just seems like waste of resources, that could go to other things.

Sponsors, Team Owners, use Grid Girls to draw attention to what ever it is they are selling. If I'm one of those doing this and the WEC says I can't do it anymore I have a couple of choices I can suck it up or take my money my product my race team whatever and go some where else. I'm outta there Good thing capitalism is still alive and strong in America where the Dollar is Up and the Euro is down No Grid Girls already doing damage to the EU economy!

Just remember that it is only the official WEC Gird-Girls that won't be hired. If the teams hire one or more girls to stay around with little clothing. That is perfectly allowed.

If you want to turn up wearing nothing to stand about on a grid for lecherous old men to ogle then be my guest, motorcycle folks like someone on the grid to keep the elements off.
I wonder if any of you would even dare to talk to a grid girl, I have numerous times and sometimes about this very subject. They don't like grease monkeys in manky overalls talking to them, nine times out of ten they draw you a filthy look then ignore you and the banter you fling at them.

I get the feeling (9/10) that they do not want to be there.

I don't think you're alone. I never understood the whole "sex sells" mentality. It's rather blatant whenever it's done and just comes off as ridiculous. Then again, I can't stand 99.99% of commercials/advertising campaigns.

A few months ago, I sat and watched some race from Road America.
And this interview came up.
You could see two grid girls in the background.
And this is the part I have tried to forget ever since.
But I cant. Anyway,they were standing there, smiling at the camera, but it was the worst fake smile I have ever seen. It made me feel awkward (imagine how they must have felt), and I could barley watch it. They could had wear a clown mask instead, the result would had looked the same.

Yeah, I know, not really contributing to this thread, just wanted to share a story.

Well, in general, racing is becoming pretty crap anyway. Retarded rules, cars covered in so much advertisement so you no longer see the paint. It's just a very very expensive advertisement sign with wheels. Mostly the same team who has already won 10K times, keeps winning, and no real fight is going on. The slightest touch and you get a penalty. Well, not always ofc, but it feels like it.

Only thing still worth checking, is the BTCC. But I wonder for how much longer.

It's perfectly legal in Norway as well. I still don't see the point in Grid Girls. But I am very happy that we ain't saying "hush, get you clothes back on" when women are sunbathing topless, and walking around on the beach topless...
