The SimFeedback-AC DIY Motion Simulator thread

Hey guys. Thought I’d create a thread for those taking the plunge into this brilliant DIY project..
I will be starting mine soon and I know there are others thinking about it.. so feel free to share your knowledge and experiences so we can all enjoy this platform to its full potential. A huge thanks to the developers who have really knocked this one out of the park!

For all the internals for the actuator contact Amy - skye@ntl-bearing.com
She can supply everything you need. Just remind her you want the ends of the shafts chamfered and make sure she sends the right sized ball screw - we have had a couple of issues reported. She is very helpful though and the cost is pretty good.

Huge thanks to @RowanH for writing a comprehensive user guide which can be accessed here - https://www.rowanhick.com/sfx-100-build-and-running-guide

In addition, @anton_Chez has contributed a list of post numbers for some of the important settings etc..

I will try to keep this page updated with links to source the parts in other parts of the world. Just post whatever links you have and i'll add them here.

Please note: Not all the parts listed below are essential for the project. For the essential parts refer to the original shopping list.

Well thanks to Pyronious's youtube video and files I've ordered the parts to make 3 SFX100 boards..
Mainly due to the fact I'm sure it's not going to go smoothly, the price difference between 1 board and 3 is tiny and the minimum PCB order is 5 :)

I had a similar problem, no UK shipping in the drop down, I emailed them and Norman had the problem resolved by the web page developers. I guess try mailing again, perhaps try FAO

Sign up for an account, revisit the site and change language to German and in shipping you will see Neuseeland. Carry on with the order in German and it all works - well, for me at least :)

I selected all the items and then copied the shopping cart page and emailed them the list to which they generated me an invoice for payment. After confirming payment via paypal they shipped it.

TBH though the shipping was a massive ripoff. DHL hand it off to NZPOST and then in my case NZPost sat on it for 9 days doing nothing with the package until I complained so much that they finally gave it to customs to process the damn package. Spent more time in a bin at the NZPost warehouse than it did in transit. BTW that was for the low low price of 185 euro in shipping (Economy). It will likely vary from yours as I added an angle bracket kit and it shot up the shipping price.

So - the helicoils have finally been mounted (big blisters on my hands though:).
Have anyone tried to paint the aluminium with good results? (I´d like to have them in black).
Got some quotes for anodizing, but I think that´s pure rip-off (approx. 240 euros in total).
Any advices if painting is a good option?

I think their site only works correctly in German... they’ve probably never tested other languages. I think it’s best to make an account in your language and add the parts. But then do the checkout in German (with google translate maybe?).

Lots of issues with NTL atm... Ball nuts are out of spec
I did not order from NTL but are these nuts really out of spec or they're sending different nuts???
I believe there are two nuts available SFU 1605-3 & SFU 1605-4. (3 or 4 ball circuits).
