Technology Preview - Time Attack - Top 30 Leaderboard

So... to kill some time i decided to make a Top 30 board for all RD members.
To get your time official you need to make a post and post a screenshot/video of the time.

Car - Lotus Elise SC
Track - Magione

edit: nevermind, people will never learn.

It really comes down to pros and cons at the end of the day.

H-Shift+Clutch:

Pro: More control over the drivetrain (can sometimes force the rears to lock momentarily to get better turn in on entry) and quicker gear shifts.

Con: In corners where downshifts are required, braking with right foot in corners so application of left-foot braking is hard to implement and sometimes impossible to apply (e.g.: Turn 2). More to think about while driving because you have to remember to blip properly to avoid locking the rear wheels.

Paddleshift

Pro: Less things to think about while cornering (e.g.: Just brake, downshift, and go). Contrary to H-Shift+Clutch, can apply the use of left-foot braking much easier so you can brake later going into corners and keep the car stable all the way through.

Cons: Less control over the drivetrain, gear shifts take longer.

In regards to sim racing experience, it counts for A LOT. To give you an idea, when I started out in sim racing back in LFS 8 years ago, I was roughly 3-4 seconds slower than the world record so in Assetto Corsa terms, that would mean 1:25-1:26. I slowly built up my speed until I was within 1-2 seconds. All this was done with a paddle-shift wheel (Microsoft Sidewinder FFB) so I didn't even have the best wheel at the time (Driving Force Pro or Momo). It just takes time to get quick. You can't expect to jump into a car and be world record pace from the first lap.

Ayrton Senna, the greatest driver ever, himself even said that at the beginning of his career, he was really bad in the wet and he then went on to become the greatest driver to race in the wet. It just goes to show that if you keep practicing, you'll eventually get quicker and quicker. That's not to say it will just happen magically, you have to think about your driving and study other drivers laps to understand where you are losing time.

My lap was set with H-shift and clutch. I'll do some runs running with just paddles LazyBug to prove that a DFGT-style wheel is capable of quick laptimes.

Decided to give it around 30min after a good while not playing, and got a new PB ! :D

Did you drift to achive this time or kept grip? Right now I have much better times in secon sector but I not able to do the magic I did in sector 1, when I did my 1:22,536... But my times are pretty even at high 1:22 and low 1:23 so it's good for later races :)
You do have to drive a bit like in the old days, 4 wheel drift and all :)

Basically, drive right at the optimal slip angle, control it there with smooth steering and throttle inputs.
