RDRC S9 Round 3 - Rally Argentina (1st March - 7th March 2021)

STOP THE COUNT! I doubt I'll ever lead my class again.
.

i actually don’t count... just started to look what places you was in monte and sweden and then notice about car change.
i also made 2 big mistakes and some small ones and i totally feeel same for Las Juntas... this stage is not suitable for me.

Yeah i saw that you did at least one mistake in the second half of the rally, which gave me hope to catch up again after my crash. Funny, Las Juntas backwards was fine to me, much better.

SS8 i did went wide out on field... game reset me on track... i think there i lost most of the time... 10-15 seconds. SS12 was also bad... tyres was sooo wear off and it was hard to hold car on track. 1 bigger mistake was somewhere in first half as well... if i looked your times yesterday then i notice you had some troubles in same stage. Overall i think my time could be 30 sec better without those mistakes... but I’m happy always when i have finished in kind of good time. No power stage points though

Team Müller Motorsport did their runs already on Monday, so here's al ittle recap:

Paul did, as always, the first run in his Mitsubishi Octavia :p

He had a decent start with only 0,8s behind one of the fast guys in their Lanicas. Then the lights went out and Paul had problems to get used to the darkness, he went off the track, spun and had simply bad driving the next two stages where he lost nealry 20s on the leader.

The next stage went fine but then he had another horrible night stage and lost 27s...

The wet stages went better, but Paul lost time on every stage...
On SS9 he had a puncture after 4mins but decided to go to the end without repairing it. He went slow and the tyre stayes on the rim nearly until the end. He lost "just" 33s on this stage.

SS10-12 went good, just one crash against a wall on the last one. +2:25,1 behgind the leader on P2 actually!

His run can be seen here:

Then it was my turn to steer the Delta HF through the rocks...

I had a perfect start, lost 0,2s on SS1 and 8,2s on SS2. Was 8,5s faster on SS3...

...and lost 0,1s on SS4...

Had a spin on the last night stage but was extremely satisfied with my driving!

On the wet stages the Delta felt somehow strange on the softs and I lost some time, still ok for me. The guy up there in front is a real fast one...

On SS8 I hit the finish-barrels and blew my only spare-tire after losing much time as the Delta was a mes on the mediums in wet conditions...

The tyre was repaired automatically and my spare was gone - but I didn't knew the tyre was blown as the pictures don't show that exactly (at least in my opinion).

SS9 and 10 went fine for me, lost more time but still in a good mood and flow...

On SS11 I had a roll as a huge stone on the inside make my car Lancia roll and crash heavily into a wall...

Was lucky to get back on the wheels without a reset, so I only lost 16s on that stage.

Then the Power Stage came and my mood went... :cautious:

I hit a wall after about 40s and blew a tire. After a short shock I got clear and wanted to change the tire....but there was no spare! I needed some seconds to realize and the thoughts got crazy why and where that tyre was used... (Solution: See above!)
So I had to go over 6mins without my left rear tyre - it was completely blown and just the rim was left:

Well, long story short: I f'*$%d the car up, had several spins and got really loud in my seat! Gladly we don't record my voice while streaming our rallies... I would have been banned from YT for ever :roflmao:
I neede 8:05 for the stage, lost P2 and fell back on P4.

Still very disappointed to be honest!!!

The whole rally can be seen here:

Better luck in Poland...well, no, this location is the one I dislike most in DR2

By the way, does anybody have an idda, how to record the screen while using VR?

On my screen there always is the 'split eye' view, which is not usable for recording

I'm hot. I'm sweaty. Tired. My shoulders hurt ... and I have a big smile! As of Friday afternoon (in Montreal) I'm 7th.

I'm 64 years old and I can't quit. This is fun!
Wow, I was impressed by your Canadian (also from around Mtl myself) pace in all 3 rallies. Respect! I just cant keep up.

Rally finished. No drama, just an atrociously slow pace all along. Well, up until the power stage where I was too pissed at my pace and decided to go rogue. Many crashes, two punctures and engine damage, yay. At least I saw to finish line this time. Might try the Fiesta before next rally...

It started pretty well for me, but in SS8 (right after service!) I made a mistake halfway through and went head-first into the rocks. Ran SS9 with barely one bar of turbo and an overheating engine before I finally decided to retire from the rally altogether.

Time to forget this one I suppose lol

Pretty uneventful Rally for me, 2 incidents where i lost more than 20 seconds and no major damage that couldn't be fixed apart from a puncture at the end of stage 12 which i managed to reach the end on. Man those night stages were just horrific for my eyes trying to work out which way the road went lol. currently 17th in my group but expect too fall at least 10 places as some better cars and drivers still too finish. Overall Happy My Car was not a buckled mess, seriously thinking of changing car as getting no fun out this Escort RS at all , cyas next round :) Oh forgot too add was I stupid for choosing Hards when we have 5 stages before a service area? they didn't ever feel like they improved as the stages went on. Also not sure if I'm getting a fair bit of steering lag with my G923, felt more responsive on Pc but DR 2.0 doesn't run as well as on my ps4.

Mathieu (winters?) the Ford is a little bit harder to keep on the road because when the Turbo kicks in, you have to be ready. But it kicks in at relatively low RPM so it is manageable. You just have to keep the revs up. It is definitely faster on acceleration, but more dangerous in tight turns. It was a bit scary in Argentina for this reason.

That has to be the toughest sim racing event I've ever take part in! I probably should have practised more but I do prefer the immersion of having a 'recce' and then having to rely on the pace notes.

I slid off the road a few times and was so so slow but managed to get to the end of the rally without a single puncture, which is something. The engine took a beating on the last loop of stages and promptly died after I stopped at the end of the last stage. I had visions of Carlos Sainz back in 1998 stopping within sight of the finish but thankfully it coughed over the line! :D
