Also, EVEN IF YOU AREN'T experiencing any issues, please try and load all the cars from the skin pack while offline. If your file structure is wrong, as was mine before today, you will not be able to see the car in the showroom. When I say the showroom, I mean the part where the car is spinning not where you just see the selection Icon for the car.

That happened to me, i wasn't experiencing any problems until i had some problems in the server and if i had checked that i would be able to solve it earlier

Not using the same install as my WIP, however I checked through my default Healey folders and although the folder for 473 (Healey) was present there was nothing in it:confused:

If Dymtro was using the default 473 Healey tonight it might explain the flicker I got. Think I'll move S10 out of Steam and back into Digital download. It's on a separate disk as well so should be safe.

Just been looking in files and I note that Warrens car file does NOT have an ULTRA_TEX.gtl file - could this be part of the problem?
There is a body dds file in there thats 2729kb - usually this is 1366kb.

Thanks Dave, Rupe had previously noted that one and we tried alternates during the week, with no impact.
My problems are separate connection issues which, I think, we now understand. My problems have to do with my connection / internet related, but I have worked out how to manage it for now. I had no issues with my skin today, nor with anyone else, and noone reported issues with my car when joining. Those problems (others joining etc) continued after I went to a default skin.

I think my problems can safely be ignored for now. :whistling:

My 473 file has all the files for car 473 a green Healey driver Wulf Goetze

If you are using the Steam install, right click on the game in your library list, then click on properties. Choose the "updates" tab, and set the drop down menu to "Do not automatically update this game". This stops Steam messing with the game files.

I'd like to just point out that a clean re-install of GTL plus the S10 cars and tracks would take 20-30 minutes, and would stop any problems with files that have been corrupted or altered by previous mod installs. Multiple installs of GTL can be on your pc, so you don't need to remove the old one.

Yeah, got 3 installs, one testing, one digital and one Steam. The Steam one I put on a week ago and put all the S10 stuff in there. Bit mystified as to why some of the folders have got mangled, considering everything else on the disk and Steam appear fine. Was using the Steam install the other night and kept getting my wheel drop out. The digital download and testing install appear fine so guess I'll be going back to the dd for S10.

Yeah, Simon. Exactly this car I was using. ;)

I'd say thats pretty conclusive of whats causing this problem with flashing - it appears to be when one person in server has a DEFAULT car skin that for some reason on the other persons install that default vehicle just has an empty file where the car details should be.

SO.

Q1. How can we check that all our files are there and are correct?
Q2. What can have caused this to happen?

A1 - a) go to C - Program files - Steam - Steam Apps - Common - GT Legends - GameData - Teams
In the teams folder you will see -
Extra Cars
GTC-65
GTC-TC-76
TC-65
Track Vehicles
and - various other Files

In Extra Cars
- Lotus Elite Works - hover over this its should be 32MB - Right Click - Properties 32mb - 75 files - 6 folders

In GTC-65
(I'm ignoring files for non league cars - this is just a quick way to establish any differences for the league)
Austin Healey 3000 - 27.5MB, 60 files 6 folders
Ferrari 250 SWB - 63.8MB,116,11
Jaguar E- Type - 31.9,70,6
Porsche 911S - 72MB,238,33
Renault Alpine A110 - 29.1MB,73,7
Shelby GT350 - 13.T350 - 13.6,40,3

In TC-65
(I'm ignoring files for non league cars - this is just a quick way to establish any differences for the league)
Alfa Romeo GTA Junior - 64.2MB,113,18
Ford Escort 1300GT - 61.3MB,171,25

Not the most scientific of methods but if you check it'll take about 2 minutes - it wont tie down corrupt files or wroing files - but if you had say the missing Healey 473 information you would immediately show about a 4MB difference to these figures and it will get you moving towards finding the problem area.

I know Stuat is sorting this and so you may not feel its important to solve the problem, but its unfair that Stuart has any of this extra work to do and anything that helps solve this problem might help now and make sure all runs smoothly in future.

EDIT - the above figures WILL CHANGE as more skins are included in future - these figures are where your installs should have been for the Test Race 1.

Appreciate the work you did there Dave. But I think if we continue from where we are now, it's just too many sources of problems and it's better if we start from scratch with something more user-friendly.

We will ask everyone to do a clean install. That will wipe out all the problematic installs we saw yesterday. Then Stuart will provide a single download for all the cars/skins. If everyone follows the same procedure, it should be pretty bulletproof. But it's important that everyone do a reinstall first so we get rid of all the dodgy installs and the old skins mods (we will do some changes in the new one). But I will come back with more details on the install procedure for GTL and the new mod pack, so please wait until we have everything ready:thumbsup:

Do you have the LotusEliteWorks10_readme.txt in Lotus Elite Works folder?

Edit - just unzipped Elite download again added my car file from my install same as you but I have the readme placed in my Elite Folder. Now to look at teh Ferrari

Ferrari - I have the READ ME FIRST !!!!.txt file in there so if you don't were two files different.

car
4 - 5.28mb,14files,0folders
7 - 4.84, 7,0
8 - 5.32 14,0
14 - 4.96, 7,0
32 - 3.69, 10,0
60 - 4.91, 7,0
64 - 4.83, 7,0
84 - 3.69.10,0
318 - 4.78,7,0
319 - 5.33,14,0
612 - 4.93,7,0
and 12 other files including the readme which i will have placed there after unzipping so 11.

Ours both worked Rupe but thanks for posting because I'm really curious why any of us should have any unexplained race stopping differences. If we can find out why maybe it solves a lot of other peoples problems for others even after season 10, should it happen again - and with most Simbin titles I've found if it happens once and you don't know why its gonna probably come back to haunt you again sometime in the future. MAybe its just me that plays Simbin stuff to much though...

I tend to keep readme files lots of time there just thanks to creators and people who had input sometimes they contain other useful stuff like the Alfa junior readme, 5 lines from the bottom

"***IMPORTANT : the mod has no sounds - you need DucFreak's GTA sounds found here : http://www.nogripracing.com/details.php?filenr=16147
"
That and the link from the readme - showed me how to to change car sounds - would have had no idea otherwise.

oh i agree Dave.. i have the added advantage of Stuart and Knut leading the way sometimes giving me step by step instructions to get me up to speed on thing's.. Its been a steep learning curve for me... I have a folder on my pc with heaps of stuff about GTl and things that i can do with it... but i must admit allot goes over my head
