My first ever rally and I achieved what I wanted to do, finish without a retirement, though I came close a couple of times. I didn't really enjoy this car on the tighter corners, not sure if it was just the car or my setup but in 1st and 2nd gear I had to be super light with the throttle or the back end would become the front end very quickly. It was like there was a deadzone built into the throttle, as there was a slight build up of power, then at 20% throttle it felt like 100% throttle if that makes sense. So I spent most of the rally in 3rd gear, without confidence to throw it around too much, but I guess that was good cause I kept in on the road, albeit slowly.
SS1 was a bit of a disaster as I forgot to load camhack, the screen was all distorted and I cracked my windscreen after a roll in the first minute lol. I've been using bonnet view as I don't like the excessive movement from the cockpit view, but was stuck in the cockpit trying to look through the broken window. I was braking very early but got to the end eventually.
SS2 I had the most trouble with, especially the bumps as they were very unsettling on the car and had to use a CFH when I got stuck, it was good to finish that one! How much time penalty does a CFH add btw?
SS3 was my favourite, even got into 4th gear a few times haha. There were some good sweeping left/right corners where the Escort felt the best, for me anyway.
SS4 was also pretty good with all the bumps and ruts in the ground, is there a special tactic to handling these? I was backing off most of the time and just riding through them.
SS5 & SS6 were ok too, they felt very long and repetitive for some reason, still fun though. The high banks next to the road were quite intimidating, I guess they're normally snow banks, but I managed to keep clear of them and avoided any rolls.
SS7 I had a CFH near the start and with smoke coming from the bonnet, I couldn't concentrate properly and was slow.
SS8 I hadn't driven before, so was very careful. Had a couple moments but kept mostly out of trouble to finish!
Well done to the podium & thanks to everyone involved in setting this up, was a great intro into RBR online, next time I'll try and get onto TS also and introduce myself properly
