throw me in for reserve...just in case. If I'm not too hung over I'm game. I like the car and the track. I actually think it turns nicely and I especially like how I can trailbrake deep and have the car actually rotate on me. Very cool. Only a dozen or so laps in for me right now and I'm leaving some time on the table for sure in that quad apex corner, as well as that last damned chicaine. That thing is a bugger.

Gots to say - man alive that was chucklesome! :good:

Firstly whoever was the evil swine on Teamspeak who kept shouting "LEWIS!" everytime their Jag went a bit doolally (Kay, I'm looking at you), Respeck! - very, very funny. :good:

I suddenly realised that Gary in the grey Jag was driving the Withnail & I car.

I kept wanting to shout "Scrubbers!" or "Ponce!" but feared that no-one would get the reference and have me locked up. By the way, add this to your favourites, link fans - www.imcdb.org - the internet movie car database.

OK - so, to the night.

Picked 2 relatively strange cars to me again - The Mini & The Porsche 906. I knew the Mini better than the Porsche because of the offline game, but the Mini got left behind failry quickly because of the nature of the progress in the offline game challenges. That, I now know, was a mistake. Both were very good fun, and I'm finding that the more I poke about in GTL and the less I'm concerned about winning, the more fun I'm having. Only raced a few times online with GTL, but these last couple of races where the emphasis was on trying stuff out, have been a real hoot.

So, race1: From the grid and the results, it looked like the Cortina was the car to have, I think I quallied 4th or 5th, with nothing but Lotii ahead of me. Was chuffed with a PB in quali. Had a decent, if more than a touch smokey, start, and kept about 4th - again, nothing but Lotii ahead of me. Safely navigated the braking zone at the end of the straight, got round the croc pond with my tootsies still dry, but then tapped David Cuthill going into the magnetic barrier bit at the back of the pond. Sorry again David - I waited for David to repass, while a few others took the opportunity to dart past as well, ended up around 10th after that, as per the rules I thought of that as my punishment. So started the long trek back up the places, aided and abetted by the occasional shouts of "LEWIS! Someone's wrecked my Jag!" over TS. :D I regained back up to about 5th I think, closing on David again, but that Cortina is too damn fast for me to close up completely, whenever David had a little moment, once he was back on track and pointing the right way, he was gone.

Race 2: first time in anger with the 906, not a car I've ever really had a go at offline, due to it's exorbitant pricing. Decided to give it a whirl this week, and I'm glad I did, it's a lovely little number, not as happy being thrown about as some of the other GTC76's, you've got to drive it fairly clean. Well, I did my best times when driving it clean like a racing car rather than a touring car hooligan, at least. Quallied about 4th or so again held that for most of the race, moving up to 3rd when someone had some Capri based turmoil - Marc closed right up on me in the Escort, only to have occasional issues and drop back again, thought I'd done enough for a podium, but on the penultimate lap, I could see Hans in the BMW having a bit of a problem, I slowed to try and avoid, but locked my brakes and decided to trim the verges, allowing Marc through for 3rd, and I couldn't ctahc him on the last lap.

Again - a proper hoot, really good fun - these "places don't matter" events are the bestest. The racings just as good, but there's no nastiness

Big thanks to Warren for organising, and RD for hosting as ususal - Can't wait to see what's next for GTL (although my sources spotted that Cadwell for GTL has been uploaded recently.... :spy:)

it means you only have one shot at setting a qually time...

as soon as you leave the garage, you have one outlap, one hotlap and one inlap... you don't need to complete the inlap... but once you return to the garage, that's you done for the session....

all the other cars are invisible to you during superpole... and you can go out at any point in the session - just make sure you leave enough time to get the hotlap in :thumb:

man, a disasterous night for meh....

was enjoying the cortina quite a bit and quallied well in r1... 5th-ish, i think... start was good and i maintained position... until t2... GAK!... one of my minor niggles with GTL is that it keeps switching off the driver nametags between session changes... not sure if i've missed a setting someplace... but as i glance down for three milliseconds to work out where the button is (rarely ever needed) i wandered off track and wound up last... (exactly the same thing happened in one of the goodwood races last week - and i don't even really need to know who the people are!! :loco:)

after that, overdrivingmoroncity trying to catch up... ended in many tears and a spin around the lake... eventually quit back to garage after increasingly damaged car was becoming a true liability....

for r2 i took the 906... really liked this when doing some testing fun at goodwood last week... hmmmmmmmmm.... couldn't get on with it at all last night... spin... spin... smack... spin... smack.... RAGE... tweak... tweak... spin... spiiiiiiiin.... persevered with it till the latter part of qually... at which point it was too late to consider changing motors... so i quit out since it was veryannoying rather than alotofun and didn't want to ruin someones race within 2 corners...

still dig gtl plenty tho... so bring on the next one...

as an aside - any chance we could start 19:30 rather than 19:00... it's a real pain in the arse starting that early...

Somebody on the reserves might be in luck ... not confirmed yet, but my main/gaming pc crashed on me during the early hours of this morning and it has gone very pear shaped on me - not sure I am gonna have time to get it back up and running again before tonight's race ... gutted, as I was just starting to get into my spanking new G25 (concerns are currently high that it was a major contributing factor to the crash  )

Will try to update my status before pracice starts, but if I am not there mid-way through practice, assume the worst and call in the reserves.

(ohhhh I am really fed up of such "disasters" and fixing PC's at the moment :disapointed:)

Well, mixed bag.. and my forecast for the Escort, turned out right... lol.

Race 1 went well... quallied 2nd to, an onfire, Warren Dawes.. (Quick, someone put him out....)
Started well, leading by turn one... had one stupid moment n slid sideways through a corner with my nose attached to the sticky barrier... thankfully it righted itself.. getting on with the race again, I finished clear of Warren. Had Jerome had a clean run, I'm not sure I'd have been keeping up with him.

Race 2... the bleedin Escort... lol. Quallied 5th, that silver fox (Warren) got pole again... (NO, I mean it... douse him down...)
Started badly... and was past by a few... I was trying to be patient, round the first lap. Hopefully, when I got heat in the tyres, the Escort would be ok... as it had, through practice n qualifying. Also, the cars infront, were not getting away. So, I thought "don't try anything silly, it'll come to you" certainly didn't want to be running into anyone. I got turned, by a fellow Escort driver... he (sorry, no idea who it was) pulled over and waited.. so no harm.
But, I was stupid again... instead of staying put, I tried to clear the track... unfortunate in its self (sorry gents) but to further my shame... I didn't shift down... so it lumbered off track... (sorry again).
I added insult, by flooring it off of the final turn... launched it at the inside barrier n did the suspension in. And, I ended another '76 race... with nothing but a red face... lol.

Thankyou to RD n its wonderful staff, especially Warren... (I'm telling you, those flames need some attention...) and everyone else who made the evening fun. Until next time... if, I work up the courage to be seen on track again... lol.

Utterly gutted tbh ... all I seem to do at the moment is install and fix ... its proper doing my head in :gary:

I am sure I don't deserve all this aggro, I am not that bad a person, honest ... the call of simple things like getting back to some (real) surfing or doing simple farming, never to touch a pc again are growing very strong here, I tell you :hippie:
