Some good info here, thanks.
One question: Does anyone know why some .dds files aren't found in 3DSimEd, such as the suspension? Even looking through the temp folders reveals nothing. Bit odd.

they are probably inside a different pssg, such as the "generic" one

I tried doing a 8192px skin, but my 3DSimED (and strangely my photohop too) couldn't handle it and just froze/crashed

would be awsome if instead of looking left right and rear, it would be looking up towards the rear mirror and left and right to side mirrors.

quick glimpses like these would make this game so much enjoyable. iknow the mirrors are poo but if its possible, it would be sick. I mean... if you decide to check either one of the mirrors, it starts to clear up whilst everything surrounding it blurs up.

please show me this is possible!

Just go to Edit->Preferences->Performance then you can set how much RAM photoshop is allowed to use, mine is set to 60% (also x64 PS)

Exterior 95% done in 8192x8192 (stock is 2048x2048 with no HD textures, with HD textures is 4096x4096)
Wheels and Tires 100% done in 1024x1024 (stock is 512x512)
Headlights 100% done in 2048x2048 (stock is 512x512)
Interior 0% done in 4096x4096 (stock is 1024x1024)

It is already set to 100% (8gb) ...

Edit: Uh wait, maybe that's the problem? Will set it to 80% and try again.

Edit2: Well Photoshop works now, but 3DSimED will still sporadically lose the texture and just paint the affected parts black
