F1 2011 Mechanical Failures

I had a fault with my DRS during Melbourne. Was wondering what other failures there are and what you have experienced. Also are there race ending failures, like blown engine, suspension, gearbox etc?

have done 7 races so far on 20% no failures on anything damage is full and still not seen safety car in either my dry or wet races. also playing with AI on pro (still far too slow as i can still pull away from them all) finished first in all races so far

I was just messing around in one of the practice sessions at Monza on my first career and shifted down from 7th gear to 1st gear whilst still nailing the throttle. Result=Loud bang and lots of smoke

Looks like gearbox, but might have been engine, the engineer doesn't say, just asks you if you are OK ......

Funny, as I though it was the gearbox because the back wheels locked up. From watching F1 it always looks to me that those with blown engines tend to roll down the track a bit, throwing out crap all over the place

I've just done my career race at Catalunya and I got a Kers failure. Within a lap it had remarkably fixed itself.

Yeah but you were under braking. Well, gearbox could be possilbe as well

Last nights 100% RD club race, I was told by the engineer that my "DRS was offline" and they were looking into it.
Couple laps later, he radio'd to say it was available again.

Hmm maybe those failures never happen in 20-50% races? In multiplayer
The only failure I had in multiplayer was a puncture.

I've had DRS fail but that's it, thank god no engine failures as i'm the type who would end session after terminal damage, and i know losing an engine outright will kill my performance later in the season.

Exact same spot as mine. I had a screenshot with a spring flying out... It's in the media subforum.

Also same again into t1. Seems you can't shift down in 7th at full throttle without a tap on the brakes

Just drove 100% distance in Malaysia.. The race was wet 70%.. Around lap 35/56 my KERS died and they fixed it 1 lap later.. Also, when that happened I lost 7th gear and drove the rest of the race with a lot less acceleration on straights, considering I had only 6 gears.. Fell from p3 to p10 in the end..
