Contents (V0.90)
Ferrari 488 GTE Evo
We have adjusted simtek's GT3 with new physics to upgrade its performance to GTE spec. Thanks to a source that wishes to stay anonymous, we were also able to improve the textures and graphics, making it look and feel like an entirely new car! The Ferrari is balanced with Studio 397's GTE cars to ensure balanced racing in both GTE Pro and GTE Am.

LMP1
We also introduced the LMP1 class. All cars are based on the Oreca 07 LMP2 model, but we gave them a performance boost to get them up to spec for LMP1 (and even a bit faster than their real counterparts).
All cars have their real 2019/2020 liveries and real driver names.

LMP2
The LMP2 cars have received a small performance boost, resembling the performance gains the LMP2 class has made since 2017.

The #47 Cetilar Racing Dallara has slightly different engine and wing settings, but also uses the Oreca chassis. We are looking into finding/creating a Dallara chassis, but don't expect anything to change here soon.

LMGTE Pro and LMGTE Am
We also chose to alter the performance of the GTE cars a bit to get a clear difference between GTE Pro and Am. The BOP has been done to have a clear difference between these classes across all included tracks.

Drivers and liveries
All teams will have the correct 2019/2020 liveries, as well as one selected driver from the current season. In future updates, we will add alternative liveries, like the Wynn's livery for Project 1.

Balance of performance
We made balance of performance (BOP) adjustments for all included tracks, as well as Le Mans, using track-specific aero packages.

To ensure you are using the correct BOP settings for all cars, you should manually force the setups for all car models. We are working on a method to have this done automatically, so that will be added in a future update.

As the mod is updated, we will keep adjusting the BOP. We will also create BOP settings for Sebring, Nürburgring and any tracks we will add to the mod.

Additional Cars
While we are working on including all teams for the 2020 24 Hours of Le Mans, we wanted you to be able to run a full 60 car grid at Le Mans. Therefore we have added 30 cars which featured in WEC or Le Mans, which can be used to fill the grid per class.

Community Cars
Another additional feature we added are our so-called "community cars". These are realistic fantasy liveries, which can be used to race in your own World Endurance Championship. Currently, the supply is limited, but we will add more community cars in future updates.

Tracks
We have also included the tracks of the 2019/2020 season that are not available for purchase (Le Mans and Sebring). The tracks have been made by GPVWC and we have adjusted them to comply WEC regulations and sponsormaps. GPVWC's tracks have been created for online racing, which results in some strange AI behavior. Although the basic AI behavior is alright, we are working hard on improving AI behavior and driving lines, which will be added in future updates. Because these AI issues caused game-breaking issues at COTA and Shanghai, we will add these tracks once the issues have been resolved. Future updates will also include Monza and maybe Kyalami, which are the new additions on the provisional 2020/21 calendar.

Graphics
To make the WEC experience more immersive, we created WEC style preview icons for the cars and tracks, as well as track loading screens.

Download
You can download the mod in the Steam Workshop of rFactor 2.

Maybe all the URD rfactor 2 content is getting an update?

Great news! But I wouldn't expect an update for the PX1 since they've already got a 3D model for the 2018 Toyota iirc.

Our 488 GTE is 99% finished, it's performance is on the same level as the Aston and Porsche GTE and it is very drivable. We need to create a solid default setup and most importantly optimize the gear ratios.

That really sounds promising, it'll be great having Bostroms GTE skins on a 488 thats actually performing like a GTE. :)
Think there's a small group of people over at the S397 forum which already updated the STK 488 visually by applying PBR and a better looking dashboard to it.

We are now in the final phase before we start our closed beta: the balance of performance. We’re trying to get the cars in each class to do lap times at Le Mans that are as realistic as we can manage and get the classes racing competitively. We’re focusing on Le Mans for the beta and part of the beta will be to test the BOP on other tracks of the WEC calendar to optimize the performance on those tracks as well.

We expect to send the beta to our testers sometime this week. Want to join our beta test? Send me (@haasje33) a PM and I’ll add you to the list! Even if you have limited time to test, all feedback will be useful.

We've decided to drop the Acura ARX-05 (by RSS) as base for our Ginetta and are now using the Oreca 07 as our base. The physics upgrades for the Oreca were already done for the Rebellion and have been adjusted a little bit to resemble the real performance differences. The livery of the Ginetta fits the Oreca better than the Acura as well.

This means we won't have a third car model in LMP1, but we made this decision to ensure quality over quantity.

I have a question: Is the upgraded Oreca 07 be able to beat the TS040 you´re using in the hands of the ai? Because i would like to see those two cars to be close in terms of power like in reality
They are very much able to, yes. I have run multiple tests (2hr races at 120% AI) finetuning the BOP of all classes and in the last few tests the Rebellions have been able to win regularly. The LNT cars have been set to be a bit behind, but manually driven they are also able to keep up with the Toyota (tested at 95% AI).

Good, i am really excited now. Hopefully it will be out soon because i can´t wait! :)

We are starting the closed beta tomorrow. We’ll send out the package file to the applicants tomorrow afternoon. We are still accepting applications for beta testing, so if you have any spare time to try it and provide us with some feedback, please send me (@haasje33) a PM.

A public beta will be released once all skins are finished and the most prominent issues with the cars are resolved. That will probably be in around a month’s time. The first stable version with correct balance of performance throughout all tracks of the WEC calendar and some other additional features, won’t be released for another month or so.

The closed beta is now ready and has been sent out to our testers. Want to join the beta? Send me a PM and I'll send you the instructions and the download link.

We also created a Discord server, where we can discuss everything about our Endurance mods, share ideas and suggestions and discuss anything about endurance racing and sim racing in general.

Unfortunately, I'm bringing a bit of bad news today. No worries, the mod is still on and the first beta version is being tested as we speak. The problem we've encountered is the Toyota model we've found and were tweaking for use with our mod. The TS040 was supposedly made from scratch by Luccas Bernardo, but during our tweaks we found out that it was actually ripped from URD, which means we cannot use it for our mod. For now, we will use the Oreca 07 (or maybe the Norma LMP3) chassis as base and upgrade the performance, like we are already doing for the Rebellion and Ginetta cars. In the meantime, we are looking into the possibilities to have a good Toyota model created for us, but we don't expect that to be done anytime before the first release and we won't postpone the release for it.

Progress update
We've been busy testing the beta for a week now and we're working hard to get a good balance of performance across all tracks of the current WEC calendar as well as fixing the problems we've encountered. Meanwhile, we have almost all liveries finished. Those that are still missing are in progress and will be done this week. The LMP1 cars are about as fast as their real counterparts, while still being very well drivable. We had some trouble with the Ferrari, but that has also been fixed and apart from some setup changes, it handles very nicely and is right in the mix with the other GTE cars.

We are getting closer to the first release, which will be a public beta. That means it will not be perfect yet, but good enough for you guys to be able to enjoy it without game-breaking issues. We are hoping to release this version in less than 2 weeks.

A request from the modding team
We are including custom liveries, so you guys will be able to compete with your own custom teams. These liveries will only be available to use as your car, not as AI opponents.

Please send us any fantasy liveries you'd like to see in the mod for the cars listed below and we'll see if we can add them. The only conditions are that they already have WEC number plates and are somewhat realistic. You can create them yourself or download them. If you submit someone else's work, tell us who made it, otherwise we can't add it to the mod.

Cars:
- Oreca 07 (Studio 397) - LMP2, as well as LMP1 liveries
- Aston Martin Vantage GTE (Studio 397)
- BMW M8 GTE (Studio 397)
- Corvette C7.R GTE (Studio 397)
- Ferrari 488 GT3 (simtek) -> updated template
- Porsche 991 RSR GTE (Studio 397)

We will also be providing real (recent) historic teams in the first public release with which you can fill up the grid at Le Mans. This will include the BMW M8 and Corvette C7.R GTE Pro teams from last year.

Could you also maybe include the ByKolles in your first public release if you have time? Just as a livery for the LNT-Oreca. That would be awesome if you would do it but i will also respect your decision if you don´t have time for that. The reason why i would want this is that ByKolles will race their car at Spa and Le Mans(if those events will go on)and if ByKolles are on the official grid) and, if they wouldn´t build their Hypercar, they would have participated in this WEC season

ByKolles is already on the list to be added

Progress update
Work on the mod has been steadily moving forward and we're happy to announce that the public beta will be released sooner than expected. We are planning to release the public beta in the next 48 hours. This beta is not by far perfect yet, but we will need your feedback to improve the quality of the mod.

Public beta features*
  • Simtek's Ferrari 488 GT3 upgraded to GTE spec and with improved textures and graphics
  • LMP1 class based on Studio 397's Oreca 07 with very similar performance to real LMP1 cars
  • Boost for existing LMP2 and GTE cars to resemble 2019/20 performance
  • All 2019/2020 WEC teams with correct driver names and liveries
  • WEC 2019/20 tracks by GPVWC included and adjusted to comply to WEC regulations
    • First public release will include Silverstone, Fuji, Bahrain and Spa
    • There are some issues with Shanghai and Austin, which will take a bit more time to solve, so they will be included in future updates
  • Graphics (icons and loading screens) for the "old" alpha UI (graphics for the beta UI will be added in a future update)
  • Basic balance of performance (BOP) setups for all included tracks, as well as Le Mans, to ensure close racing within the different classes across all tracks
  • Additional Cars: 30 cars from previous seasons and Le Mans races, which we added to enable you to run with a full Le Mans grid, including last year's Corvette and BMW GTE Pro cars
  • Community Cars: (realistic) fantasy skins made by the RaceDepartment community
* The listed features may change prior to release

Known issues:
  • The Ferrari setup is mainly focused on AI. To solve an understeering issue, we gave the Ferrari a very stiff setup, which makes it a bit difficult to handle and slow on straights compared to the other GTE cars (due to high drag). We are working hard trying to find a solution, you are very welcome to make any suggestions that could help us improve the handling and top speeds (apart from boosting the engine power or lowering the wings).
  • Balance of performance is still a work in progress, so there will be varying lap time differences within classes across the tracks.
  • Strange AI driving lines which may lead to uncommon spins and crashes. This is due to the fact that GPVWC's tracks were made for online racing. We are working hard on new AI driving lines and general AI improvements across all tracks, which will be included in future updates.
Release
This mod will be released exclusively at our Discord server. By doing this, we hope to increase the ease with which you can provide us with feedback. You can join our Discord server here to stay posted on the progress and download the beta when it's ready.
