Have you ever raced with RD?

Hi all,

I am looking at what we can do to get the Club events back on track so to speak and one thing is clear there is still plenty of interest in Race Series. What we do see however is smaller numbers in the Club events than in the past. A few people move on and new ones come so in order to see why numbers have decreased a little i have produced this poll to see whats happening.

please take time to post in it.

Nick

:letsgoracing:Well im getting sweaty hands, looks like theres some racing to be done, a bit of talking TS3 (always good to break the ice when you hear somebodies voice) Plus some helpful advice (i need it) . Big thanks to you guys for doing this:doublethumb:

I've not yet raced with you guys, in fact I've not installed the game yet! I will likely take a couple of weeks to get used to the game, get the controller how I like it (will be using an xbox 360 controller, as a) its what I'm used to, and b) I can't afford to spend the type of money I'd need to get a wheel that is xbox/ps3/pc friendly, as I have all three, and race on them all!) After I feel comfortable, i will likely jump in a practise lobby or two (if you guys run them late enough, I'm on from 22:30 most nights)

Nicely put Pieter,
The mini's are the only FWD car that i like, ive been enjoying the Retro pack and the V8 escorts (which are great fun) for me the 25 min race lenght is perfect at the moment.
Does RD have a home track....

There is so much to learn when you start, i lost count of how many little mistakes i made whilst racing, so if i can get rid of the silly things it can only improve my driving, which in hand makes it better for other drivers.
I was outbraking myself alot of the time before, now i feel i break to early but my lap times are about 1.5 seconds faster. its hard to get it right.
Advice is always welcome when you want to learn.

I have never raced in a race series, only night races about a year or so ago.
I may think about it, if there was a newbie race series event.

Need to get the addons I am missing first and learn the game again, as I haven't play it for a long time and been playing on the Xbox 360.

I hope that "Race Development" encompasses "experienced but slower" drivers as well as the unsure new guys. So many of my races are done all alone because there are only RD regulars far ahead of me on the track. I tend to hold down last place. Many times the hesitant new guys are usually a lot faster than they think and after racing with us only once or twice move up quickly in the placings. That folks, is the voice of experience!

I'd like to try it but I'm learning to be quick (read quicker :) ) with clutch and SQ stick. I'm quite good at paddle shifters, but it's a bit boring with some cars. And my lap times with SQ vary a lot; depents on track. Fanatec set is a good work out machine.

So I'd like to see races for slower guys too.

Lol :) I miss an option in the poll :)

No, but I intend to as soon as all has been arranged so I can race :)

I haven't raced with you guys yet, but when the license approval is complete, I definatly intend to. Didn't sign up here for nothing :p
The thing that was holding me back is simply the controller. I don't have a decent steering wheel yet, so I am forced to race with a joypad. Steering is a delicate job then. Just a small twitch with the finger, can mean a spin or blocking brakes and other unexpected moves. Those moves are the ones holding me back. Causing major accidents, or destroying the race of a regular racer due to a small, unintended twitch in the finger could cause people to get mad or frustrated, and also make me irritated, since I just like clean racing, and hate it when something like that happens :)
I mean, I don't want to destroy my good name, even before I get to the real action.

In regards to a newbie race, yeah sure I would enter. I do think 80 min is a bit to much for newbies though, but thats a personal opinion.

Further, I cant wait to see you all on the tracks.

Regards,

Not sure what to answer in the poll. But I haven't raced here (on RACE) because I think rf is a bit better.
However, the main reason is all the addons to this game. I don't have Race ON, STCC2, or any other of the new packs, and therefor I find it hard to be motivated and even try to find races to race. So, for me, the addons is the big problem.

I've done some Wednesday night Mini races, but stopped when the signup system and schedule changed. I'll be back, but my summer schedule doesn't allow much time for racing (I'm in an rFactor league that pretty much takes up my allotment).

I'd say that I still qualify as a newbie, and a slow one at that. But I've found the Mini races to be great fun. Everyone's friendly and willing to share advice. The key really isn't the ability to drive fast, but to drive clean. If you can do that, you'll never catch any grief from your fellow competitors.

Hey Mr Brooke, Even something we did last night with the "Help Needed for a vid" was a good way to get out on track and although it was only for show. we was having fun and learning ......a good bit of fun (ts3 is a must, when breaking the ice or a rear fender)

There is a section in controller options that allows you to slow down the response of the joystick. It says Analog sector 1, Analog sector 2 and Analog sector 3. Warning: it is not a easy thing to calibrate for it will take you a fair bit of time to dial in but when you do, it makes driving with a joystick far less twitchy.

nx’ Controller Settings for Race Pro
Steering Sensitivity:

40% to 50%
Analog Sector 1:

0.6 to 0.8
Analog Sector 2:

1.6
Analog Sector 3:

2.2 to 2.5
Throttle Sensitivity:

20%
Brake Sensitivity:

30%
Steering Dead Zone:

0% to 5%
Global Steering Lock:

18 degrees
I use these when on a controller

Thanks guys, I shall try this as soon as I have a chance. Hope to do so today, and hope to get around the tracks just a bit faster. Still need 5 or 6 seconds to keep up with the regulars (on Zandvoort, with the Mini that is). Lets see if this config change makes a difference :)

Long time lurker, finally signed up to RD. Took the poll, said there's nothing I see that I like. So many rFactor, Touring Car and GTL leagues. RD needs more RWD RACE 07/GTR:EVO leagues.

I'll check it out when that happens.

I wouls say get involved now and change it from within.
If more racers want it we get it, but if your not racing you dont get... eg Retro race cool, no mini's (they try to accomadate all)
and i will enjoy an all mini race aswell even though i prefare rwd. At this stage its all about fun, i can get all serious in the league races if is so please...Come and join the Fun......
