GT5 GoM vs. RD

With kind permission from Stuart Pocock I am starting this thread to arrange some inter-clan race meetings with a view to igniting a little extra passion in each of our communities.

We're a decent bunch of chaps at GoM (Grumpy Old Men), some of whom can drive in straight line, even if there's a corner in the way.

Despite a startling lack of talent, in no way compensated for by enthusiasm, we are in no doubt that we are much better than you lot and seek to prove this a.s.a.p. and without mercy.

If any of the good, if slow, folk of RD, can find it in themselves to face a challenge we at GoM would be delighted. A team of 5 or 6 drivers?

Non Grand Prix Fridays are definitely ok for us, what's most convenient for you may well be fine for us too.

GT300, PP500, RH tyres, Fuji, 20 laps? Just a quick thought to set the ball rolling, any and all ideas welcome.

(Attempts at humorous goading aside, we believe in clean and fair racing and would rather lose cleanly than win by foul means. We apologise, usually, for any contact, and aim to 'give up the place' if an advantage is gained.)

That's really low, a GT300 with an oil change is 523pp maybe 540pp would be a better match?

We, some of us GoMs, had a quick GT300 practice last night. Even on RH tyres and with the aero at a minimum the cars were very sticky. 500pp is really low Stuart you're right. 540pp would be much better.

At GoM we like to race with comms on. Even though this may strain the PD network we feel it greatly enhances the racing and in particular allows for minor disputes to be settled rapidly and cordially. There will always be racing incidents, of course, and if I misjudge my braking and force someone wide through a corner, for eg., I want to be able to make my apology immediately to keep tensions at a minimum. How do you feel about this?

There's likely to be a grid full of yellow AsparaDrink RX7's?? Just a thought; no two cars the same in a team??

19th Oct, 22:00 race start, is this confirmed for our first meet?

Am really looking forward to this now and the following re-matches that you'll be begging for to win back your honour !!!

Yes I would like that too. It really would look stupid and you couldn't name the event GT300.

...and possibly a casual 'track day' type meet before the 19th to make first acquaintances and to get the measure of each others abilities....(so that GoM can see how much practice we need to put in!)

For scoring system we could have something like this for 12 drivers:
P1 - 15
P2 - 12
P3 - 10 minus one point down the field.

We also get point for pole position and the fastest race lap.

Our club races have ABS on 1, personally i always use ABS but never use TC

. I suggest you allow TCS and ABS that way both parties are happy. Also if any of your guys want to race with abs or visa versa likewise with tcs

Hi again, just over a week to go.

Can we finalise some details please Stuart....

Is the 19th actually decided upon?

I see this as a friendly, toe in the water, type arrangement.
So the scoring not too important (this is a lie!) but 15,12,10,9,8,7,6,5 etc. is fine by me. 1pt for pole and 1pt for fastest lap?

No two cars the same in one team, for a diverse grid ... eg. the two Cusco Subarus '03 and '08 are considered the same car?? Likewise for the '04 and '06 RX7s??

Would a 22:30 race start be ok, or does it need to be a little earlier?

TC and ABS is agreed I think.

Mics on.

20 laps of the Fuji circuit with the extra chicane.

A track day type meet on say Wed next week to size each other up and get the banter going??

Feel free to send a friend request if that's ok with RD....but I guess we'll meet in Stuart's lounge?

20 laps will go quickly, we could go to another course afterwards for a rematch?

I too tested all cars and 540 PP on RH tyres would be great.
