Are we required to run a certain amount of laps for each tire?
In theory, you could do 1 lap on Hard and 70 on Medium

For some reason, some people were not able to select the Soft tires for this car. Not sure why/how as I have the option to select all 4

You won't have the option on the server; it's mediums and hards. That is the track default.

Yes, strategy is entirely up to you. You might find the tyres only last so many laps and you need to 2 stop, 3 stop... as long as you use both compounds. Just like F1.

Medium tires perform better but are less durable. Apart from the requirement to use hard tires, this can help save a stop at race strategy, since they are more durable.

I did some testing and mediums wear off pretty fast when pushing. Set myself the goal to do 20 fast laps. Managed to keep quite a consistent pace, on lap 19 still within 0,5s off the fastest lap time, then in lap 20 i was done. This is the state of the tires after ca.20 laps on med,haha:

This tire with yellow stripe is the "soft", not "medium".
And remember that you get to race with too much fuel.

It looks like I may not be able to race. Gut a problem with my pedals. Bloody cats chewed the wire and it's in a mess. Gonna have a go at fixing it, but I've a splitting headache atm so I'm not sure I've got the gumption to do it

I can be plum at times. Pedals OK, different cable cut so everything is OK to race.
Blasted headache.
