F1 2014 The Game (Codemasters)

I have some probably mundane things as others have covered most, but mine would be:

Replay: be able to lock and follow any car, be able to save the data of replay to watch again later, or even if small snapshot replays could save it would be something.

The reason I play F1 games is because I want to experience what it would be like to be an F1 driver.

Here are the things that I would like to see to improve the game's realism (order of importance):

Mirrors: In PS3 X360 versions of the game, when driving in cockpit view, the mirrors show a PS1 style graphic of a racing car when it is right behind you. In the PS4 / XO versions of the game, I want to be able to look in my mirrors and see as much detail of what is going on behind me as if I was facing in that direction. Pressing the right thumbstick down is unrealistic and gives you more view than a real F1 driver would have.

Practice sessions: In real-life F1, it is not the driver that decides their own setup and how many laps they should drive in a practice stint. The engineer should give specific instructions as to what they want you to do during a practice session, it's then up to you to carry out the instructions and give them feedback to help them find the right setup for you.

Reconnaissance laps, Formation Lap and Race Start: First of all, you should drive from the pit garage for the race, and either drive straight to the grid or through the pit lane a few times if you want to get an idea of the current track conditions. During the formation lap, you have to drive in a way to get the tyres to the right temperature to get an optimal start. AI drivers should be more dynamic at the race start.

Post-race lap: After doing a race at full distance, it would be nice to have a cool down lap to soak up the result, see glimpses of race highlights on the big screens as we drive past, get some feedback from our engineer / team principle, pick up some marbles, then drive into parc ferme.

Interaction with other F1 drivers: I'm mainly thinking of your teammate and maybe some cut scenes to show how your relationship is developing with them based on your head-to-head results. But, interactions in the green room prior to getting on the podium or with a driver that you ruined a race for (or vice versa) could also be a great addition.

GP2 and GP3: Would love to see this, but would rather time be spent on making the F1 game as great as possible. Could be released as DLC in say Q1 2015?

Codies said there is no need for a DLC for F1 2014 in a recent interview.

If you want to experience how it would drive a F1, all you should ask the grip is not 100% arcade as in F1 2013 (the worst F1 game ever)
Realistics physics, the rest hardly matters.

A. I. IMPROVEMENTS:
More realistically, you have battles between other pilots and collide with them (they do not need to throw nustros great modders is one month doing what Codemasters has not hacho in 1 year).

DAMAGE SYSTEM:
A system that can be regulated not only nothing, visual and physical, but also break with realism, the structure is deformed and car parts that remain hanging, as the front wing of Ricciardo in Malaysia 2014.

PHYSICAL:
Back to the past would be OK, back to the physics of F1 2010 as impressive are they and are very realistic...

UPGRADES:
That improvements in R&D is seen to be noticed, and if a part of the rear wing is tested, paint with paraffin in the practice session...

MENUS:
Many people want to return the feeling of being a real driver, to return the paddocks, press conferences, podiums, etc...

HELMETS, GLOVES AND NUMBERS:
Some 3d menu where you can customize your personal data: Helmets, gloves, even choose your own number, with the source you want and customize it to your liking...

REALISTIC GRAPHICS:
We are tired of cars back of the grid is square look, this is not Minecraft, or the shadows seem made of tiny balls...
Something like GRID 2 and/or Autosport would be better...

SUMMARY:
Codemasters make a realistic game, well made and make people think you are really driving...
Until I try the game, I will not purchase it...

1 idea here...

MAIN MENU/POST-RACE MUSIC
The main menu music we can hear in the game, including the post-race ones, should be a remix from F1 2013.

AI - Make them consistent so they are not easy beats at some tracks and then 5 secs faster at the next one. Make them understand blue flags. Make them more committed to overtaking, but only if you fix the out of sight problem.

Wet Weather - Make it so that the AI dont have impossible traction and grip in wet compared to ourselves. Make it so that Q1 cant be wet and Q2 completely dry 5 mins later.

Safety Car - Make it come out sometimes?? Make the marshals less efficient so that it takes longer than 20 secs to clear a 4 car crash. Then there will be yellow flag situations that go on for a couple of laps and possibility of SC coming out.

Mech failures - I think this more down to FOM than CM but it would be great to see each car fail in a race at least twice a year on average. Also to lose the odd Quali and Practice session due to car failure would be cool too.

Race Engineer - I now know for sure if the RE says "Alonso is pitting in the next 2 laps" means that he certainly wont. Give me gaps to other cars and info on which tyres they are on and what lap times I need to be doing. Usless canned lines that make no sense to the situation are just taking up processor space. If need be, scrap him altogether, everything we need is in race director anyway.

Great point, although let's not be totally consistent with the blue flags. Every now and then, a driver doesn't get out of the way, but then gets a penalty for it.

Why do Q1, Q2 and Q3 even need to be separate sessions? Why not just play through all of them in real-time, you return to and sit in the garage during the 7/8 minute gaps, given your team-mates telemetry to study while you're in there and even go out early to wait at the end of the pitlane if the weather is bad and getting worse
.

When a safety car has been deployed, it has completely turned the race on it's head (and that's a good thing!). We don't even need there to be a crash. In real-life, we see safety cars coming out for debris on the track, let's have more safety cars!

You're right, the current guy is useless. I like to play with no OSD, so things like gaps to cars in front and behind would be useful. 'Your team mate is braking later at turn 12' would be a useful type of phrase, particularly in qualifying. Team orders would be a good addition too.

Ok, here's a question for the forum:
Should the Mercedes car be totally dominant, so that it is only possible to win a race if you are in it?

I would also like to have different engineer voices for different teams....kinda boring hearing the same guy over and over even after you switch teams.

I also want pit stops to get screwed up sometimes...issue with a wheel not coming off or getting put on right. Also the AI pitting at random times would be nice as well, rather than have the #1 drivers pit all at the same time, then the next lap the #2 drivers come in.

Having Q1,2,3 in 1 session would be perfect as well.

I also want better force feedback with wheel inputs....sometimes i want the wheel to fight me in a corner, i want to feel how the car is doing threw the wheel.

How bout wing adjustments we could tell the pit to make while in a pit stop?

Yes i think that it should be as the game has to be realistic with current conditions so maybe in career have other teams start to catch up as the season goes on (only by a bit but RB have still caught up) but for it to be realistic then really you shouldn't be able to win in a Marussia and FP1 and 2 should be there

I want a lot of things, but for me the top is a racing simulator. The arcade is too simply, i love Assetto Corsa, but then, when i play to F1 2013 it's horrible. At first, the angle of steering wheel, the pysich of the car, of the tracks, more difficult.. There are a lot of thing... All the free pratice with the real strategy, in the fp1 the teams try the car with the prime, in the fp2 with the option try to take the first time or the long run. The helmet generics with the sponsor for all the team, the interview like F1 2010, the engineer help on the race, the summer and winter test, almost 5 year for the career..

Its simple, a good game , realistic and the more important .... to have a game that you buy 60$ with less than 20 updates !!!!! We are in 2014 , this is the revolution year of videogames... just look Watch Dogs .. also very very very hard ai , an ai that we cant pass in 1 lap.. and better race start for the ai who will not let you pass easily in the 1st corner..:)

Fix the Montreal track to its current state (actually, its 2013 state...), like its new FIA-requested runoff area at T08 and T09 (after the Casino-bridge underpass):

Fix the straight between T09 and T10. It's not an uphill like the ones in your games, but it's a slight downhill slope (making it going uphill removes at least 0.1 seconds from each hotlap):

Photo0093.jpg

Fix the 2012's renovated Casino's expansion and it's outlook:

And fix the Yas Marina Circuit's sunset sequence: It should start ealier and the sky should be completely dark at Lap 15.
