After a short break for Single-Seater Mondays, we return with a blast back to the glory days of Ground Effect. Absolute grip monsters that required precision and a heck of a lot of trust in the seals around the sidepods gluing you to the tarmac at speed. The racing was epic, and has proved to be here on Race Department too! We head to Watkins Glen, a crazy high-speed circuit with plenty of hills and bumps to deal with. How will you fare around this tarmac Roller-coaster?

Eligibility: You must be a PREMIUM member. You must also use your REAL NAME on all RD servers and Discord, and include this in your forum profile. It is the only way of identifying who you are during an event.

CAR LIST
As a bit of a different race, there are lots of different cars with different performances. As such, let's have an eclectic grid where you all choose your car. Please choose one of the cars which has not been chosen.
These cars have different physics and overall speeds. Feel free to test them beforehand before making your choice. I am listing the cars in the 1979 Constructors Championship finishing order to give you an idea of the pace they had. If you are a "faster" driver, please may you choose one of the "slower" cars, as a way of balancing the field a bit.

Awesome! Count me in, not sure with which car though.
Use this description I made to help you choose what you'd like.

I've used the Alfa during our races in Dijon and Mosport, I'm tempted to try one of the other cars this time.

That was fun!

To prepare for the race I've made some minor setup changes. Shortening the final drive, added one click to 6th gear. Rear wing gained two clicks and rear anti rollbar softened a bit to help stability during corner entry. This gave me a healthy 279 down the straight. I reckoned this would be enough against everything with a Cosworth DFV.

Did not expect to have such a huge advantage in qualifying though. But it was a nice surprise nonetheless.

Race went well, had an off in the slow right handed down the hill early in the race. But I think Edward had an issue in the same lap. Effectively saving my a$$ and allowing me to keep a bit of a gap.
After 10 laps my tires went bad. And after 20 laps the wheel vibrated more violent than a certain Panasonic "household appliance" on the straight. So I took care and did not try to push the car too much in the quick corners to help the tires a bit.

As always, thanks for organizing @Jimlaad43 !
See you guys next time .
