Bugbear Entertainment have released a fairly major hotfix to Next Car Game Wreckfest today, addressing issues that arose following a recent build update.

Only a couple of days ago Bugbear Entertainment released a reasonably large update and new content for their destruction derby style racing game Wreckfest, however following some further testing and feedback from the ever loyal Wreckfest community it appears that several unforeseen issues have come to light post public release.

With impressive speed the development team have turned around what is a substantial update for simply a 'hotfix' release, aimed at addressing many of the immediate issues and generally improving the experience for the players of a game that is chocked full of potential.

Of the main issues addressed as part of the new release comes a resolution to the server browser crashing issue that has prevented many players from accessing the online functionality of the game. Other big improvements come in the form of a fix to the modding screen, increased responsiveness of the general UI and various track fixes (including a new reverse layout for 'Mixed 4').

You can check the full change log below:

TECHNICAL/USER INTERFACE
  • Leaderboards are back online.
  • Server Browser no longer crashes.
  • Server Browser is now more responsive and correctly displays server info.
  • Mod Manager does not glitch anymore when more than one page of mods is installed.
  • Selecting Game Mode in the Quick Race Options now works correctly.
  • In Team Race, points are now correctly awarded for crashing.
  • Reset is no longer disabled in single player after playing online on a server with reset disabled.
  • Reset Car and Reverse Limiter options are now shown on their own rows in Lobby and Server Browser.
  • After toggling V-Sync in the Settings a game restart is now required menu to apply the setting.
  • Number of max players is now shown correctly in Lobby.
  • Lobby chat is now more responsive.
  • Replay UI is now correctly displayed.
  • Scroll bars are now displayed correctly in Lobby and elsewhere.
  • Background is now displayed correctly when using ultra wide resolutions.
  • THQ logo is now properly centered.
VEHICLES
  • Vehicles imported from old save data are now automatically given correct replacement parts in case parts are missing or invalid, fixing the red exclamation mark error in multiplayer.
  • Reduced tire dust effects so that they are less intrusive and cost less performance wise.
  • Ragdoll model is now shown correctly instead of grey cubes.
  • American 3 roll cage no longer gets detached too early.
TRACKS
  • Added Mixed 4 Main Circuit Reverse layout
  • Improved Mixed 7 checkpoints to prevent outrageous cheating.
  • Speedway 2 white tire barrier now has a proper collision.
  • Fixed Gravel 1 missing texture.
  • Fixed Tarmac 2 missing textures + improved environment art.
  • Fixed Sandpit 3 start camera.

Next Car Game: Wreckfest is available for PC via the Steam Network now, with a tentative date of late 2017 / early 2018 for a console release.

I just tried it today and my car view is side on. I just can't drive. It's a clean install. Crazy. I can only see the side of the car. I had a look in the settings and menus but couldn't spend any time in there because of the super fast spinning camera making me feel sick.

I guess I shouldn't be too hard on them, it's still early access.

Thankfully only an 87.9 MB patch compared to the over 7 GB of the update. Still, I'm getting hammered on data caps with the RaceRoom and Automobilista updates coming today!

I decided that, due to lack of VR, the only way I was going to get on with this gane was to play it on a gamepad as a true arcade game. If I could have seen out of the front of the car, it might just have worked.

Yes i start in cockpit view but after a couple of crashes i usually have to go to bonnet view, well whats left of it,,
then as a last resort bumper view or swingman.. i would like to be able to stay in cockpit view but be able to see through the mangled parts, have them kind of invisible, transparent.. but still i love this game for what it is..:)

Still FPS issues for me and not even half the settings on high, not even AA and still can't handle a full grid of cars, stuck on driving a single car since I've purchased the game (I don't care about making money I want to race!), damage makes cars look like a deformed piece of rubber instead of metal, far, too far from being realistic like BeamNG for example.
Very disappointed from what Flatout used to be, still hoping it'll get somehow better now that THQ is in charge.

i7 2600k OC'd at 4.2ghz, GF 970 GTX oc'd too, 8gb ram (can't upgrade got huge fans for OC) and the game still sucks. Yes got better after last update but when the FPS drops makes you loose control of the car and there's no point in even trying.

All running along nicely here in Ultra 4K. I hadn't played since the new UI and that is a big improvement, looks like it is being made ready for the consoles to me. The part upgrade screens make far more sense.

The framerate is super smooth and I like the feedback through the wheel, it feels like driving some dodgy old beaten up car to me. Seems easier to give the AI some of their own medicine too as shown here :D

Proper smashing, crashing nonsense and I've enjoyed this in small bursts in Early Access so I'm looking forward to seeing how it finally shapes up, they are on the right track I'd say.

man this game is fun to play online.
but i have couple questions.
1. why the car dosent engage first gear when i press the button on the start line? (always get punted because of that)
2.why theres no auto clutch for the cars when in manual mode? if your standing still and hit full throttle nothing happens, it takes like 3 seconds for the car to start moving.
3.why the cars get stuck in slides like in project cars?

Actually I take back some of my elitist whinging about VR.

I've stopped using a wheel on this game and am just using a gamepad, the one that came with the Oculus Rift, and it's just out and out good arcade fun.

I just bought the game and having the same problem. Any ideas for fixing this issue. The spinning screen really made me fell sick.

Yes. For me it was that I had another controller plugged in - in my case a HOTAS - that was causing it. Go through everything that's plugged into your PC in addition to the controller that you use for WreckFest.

All I had to do in the end was move the throttle on the HOTAS to a central or 'off' position and that fixed it.

Hi Jack
Only have plugged in the controllers you want to use. wheel peddles ect... or make sure all other controller are not mapped to anything, in the ui you can click left or right to see the controller you have listed..
if you still have your flight gear plugged in chances are it using one of them.

if when your driving and hit reverse there is also a auto look back that can be enabled/disabled,
when you start to reverse the camera look back for you, start rolling forward again and it looks forward..
very handy for certain events.
