Earlier today British development studio Codemasters confirmed DiRT Rally 2.0 will be heading to stores in February 2019.

Designed as a sequel to the highly regarded DiRT Rally of 2015, DiRT 2.0 will be the thirteenth entry into the franchise formally known as the Colin McRae Rally series of games. With the new release, Codemasters have promised this new title will be bigger, better and more authentic than the previous DR game, something that is sure to please fans left feeling cold at the more arcade orientated DiRT 4.

Little is known of the new title at this early stage, although judging from the reveal trailer it does look like plenty of work has been undertaken by the developers already, suggesting that much of the heavy lifting is already complete as we head into the final stages of fine tuning prior to release.

What we do know makes for interesting reading however. Seemingly keen to make more of the attractive World Rallycross licence present in the original DiRT Rally, Codemasters have confirmed the initial release of 2.0 will feature no less than eight official circuits of the 2018 WorldRX season “at launch”, suggesting that more locations could be added to the game as DLC at a later date.

With WRX well covered, Codemasters have also confirmed six traditional rally locations and a wide selection of iconic rally cars from the history of the sport.

According to the announcement statement from Codemasters, players who make use of the pre order options will have an array of different benefits and perks from which to choose from, as detailed below:

All pre-orders editions of DiRT Rally 2.0 will include access to the amazing Porsche 911 RGT Rally Spec as a bonus vehicle to use on the stages. In addition there will also be a DiRT Rally 2.0 Deluxe Edition which also includes the first two seasons of post-launch additional content, each with three locations (split between rally and rallycross) and five early vehicles unlocks (Ford Escort MkII, Lancia Stratos, Subaru Impreza 1995, AUDI Sport quattro S1 E2 and Ford Fiesta OMSE SuperCar Lite). The Deluxe Edition will also allow players to get their hands on the game four days early, launching on 22nd February 2019 and also includes upgraded starter cars for My Team, in-game bonuses and high reward events. More details about the seasons will be revealed soon.

"We want Dirt Rally 2!"
"Okay, here it is."
"**** you we didn't want it anyway"

I miss Pretend Race Cars. The only place on the simracing net that would call out the fact that half of you ungrateful shits don't even play the sims you claim to love, you just want to complain about them on the internet.

OK, this video alone makes me a lot more excited for the game than the awkward Twitter hype campaign and the run of the mill teaser trailer. Despite the obvious framerate issues, comically ragdoll codriver or the over abundance of lens flares in some of the shots.

I've been testing and giving feedback on different handling prototypes for a good few months regarding this project, and the gravel feeling so many of us loved in Dirt Rally is now def back with a bang. With that said, we didn't use the new stages for the testing, but if you enjoyed Dirt Rally, I might almost promise that you will enjoy this. It feels like Dirt Rally, minus the bad bits.

They have got some very competent people onboard that are highly involved, mainly thinking of Jon Armstrong and Ryan Champion.

We are allowed 2 good rally games each decade (though, that's all down to taste I guess). 90's had Colin McRae Rally and Rally Championship.
00's had Colin McRae Rally 2.0 and RBR.
10's have had DiRT Rally - let's hope for DiRT Rally 2.0 as well :)
I am surprised that I'm so far the only one who love to see the old Gr.A Golf in the game! :x3:
I really have hopes in DR 2.0! And to be a RD Rally Championship again!!!! ;) And of course I want to drive the Porsche 911 R-GT of Codies :thumbsup:

Announce a game
Announce a gross pay to win scheme and that Porsche will be pre-order exclusive :poop::poop::poop::poop::poop::poop::poop::poop:

Could someone please give me a time machine so I can go back to when you could just buy a game and get the same game as everone else

I really wish for some proper tv-style replays like the ones RBR has. What they had in Dirt Rally was just terrible. No proper flow or immersion. Trackside and helicopter views please.

@leon_90 The handbrake in Group B cars discussion has been brought up many times with Dirt Rally. The official opinion I believe was that we're not racing the Group B cars in their original spec, but modified to include things like a working handbrake.

With that being said, I expect the driver holding on to the handbrake (though I think it might be shifter) is simply due to the video being work in progress.

So, for rallying DiRT Rally 2.0 will have at least two new countries, Argentina and (I think) Australia. I still enjoy the original DiRT Rally, but after 3 years I'm a little bored of the same stages. So, if we get 6 new countries, similar cars and as good or better FFB (tarmac could do with improving) in 2.0 then that will do me.

The car on the box cover looks like the VW Polo GTi R5. If we cannot have WRC cars due due to licence issues, but get 2 or 3 R5 cars instead that would be great.

For me DiRT Rally had the best implementation of VR, so it would be a real shame if Codemaster does not include it in 2.0. Like many, as much as I am a rally fan, NO VR, NO BUY.

Thats comforting and i agree with Martin that this makes me way more excited than some pre-recorded snazzy trailers. We're too old for that crap. :D

However, please, oh god please make tarmac better than DR1. Im on my knees here, Codies!
