The bidding for drivers, engine and tyres is now open!

Note! Each manager should read this post thoroughly BEFORE making their bids.

How the bidding works:

Every item (driver/engine/tyre) has a minimum salary/price that has to be met. Each team must make at least three offers for each item (except for tyres) including annual salary/price and length of the contract. Offered contract length can be 1-3 years (only 1 year for pay-drivers).
The bids can be made publicly in this thread or via PM if a manager doesn't wish other managers to see his/hers offers.

When all teams have made their bids (or deadline for bids has passed) the game moderator calculates which team's offer a driver/supplier chooses.
So it doesn't matter whether you are the first or the last team to make your bids, as long as you make them before the deadline.

Important notes:
- It is advised to make more than three offers per item, especially if bidding for potentially popular items to ensure you at least one driver/supplier accepts your contract offer. There is no limit on how many offers can be made.

- When bidding for any item each manager should place their preferred choice on top of their list.

- The highest bidder doesn't always win the bidding contest! There are other factors, including team status, that affect which team's offer an item chooses.

Example bid:

(rank - driver name - offered salary - offered contract length)
Driver 1
1. Mika Häkkinen 5000cr – 2 years
2. David Coulthard 3500cr – 2 years
3. Damon Hill 4000cr – 1 year
4. Pedro de la Rosa 2000cr - 1 year

Driver 2
1. David Coulthard 3000cr - 3 years
2. Eddie Irvine 3000cr – 2 years
3. Damon Hill 3000cr – 1 year
4. Pedro de la Rosa 1400cr – 2 years
5. Jean Alesi 2200cr – 3 years
6. Toranosuke Takagi pay 150cr/race - 1 year *

Engine
1. Cosworth 5500cr – 3 years
2. Mugen-Honda 5000cr – 3 years
3. Mercedes 6000cr – 1 year

Tyres
1. Michelin 3000cr – 2 years
2. Bridgestone 3200cr – 3 years

* Pay-drivers pay for their seat before each race. Each pay-driver has a maximum money he can afford to pay per race. Pay-drivers can be signed only for 1 year at a time.

AVAILABLE DRIVERS

Below you will find the list containing all available drivers, their nationality, age and minimum salary. Offering more than the minimum salary undesrstandably increases the chance a driver accepts your offer.

Drivers who are ready to pay for their seat have a negative salary (marked in red). Their salary denotes the maximum money they can pay per race. Asking pay-drivers to pay less or offering them proper salary undesrstandably increases the chance a driver accepts your offer.

Note! Only Team Rebaque can bid for Hector Rebaque. Emerson Fittipaldi on the other hand is available for all teams.

AVAILABLE ENGINES AND TYRES

Below you will find the list containing all available engine and tyre suppliers and their minimum salary. Offering more than the minimum salary undesrstandably increases the chance a supplier accepts your offer.

Note! The Alfa 1260 V12 engine is still in development and due to be ready for the fifth race. Teams that bid for this engine and have their offers accepted will have to use the older Alfa 115-12 F12 engine instead in the first four races.
Note2! Teams can bid for multiple engines of the same manufacturer. I.e. If a manager really wants his team to use Alfa engines, he could bid first for the Alfa 1260 and then for Alfa 115-12 engines hoping that if his first offer is declined, maybe his offer for the older engines is accepted.

NOTE! Ferrari, Renault & Alfa Romeo DO NOT have to bid for engine

You have 96 hours to submit your bids. DEADLINE is 18:00 GMT on Friday 20th March.

Please read this post too reagarding finance keeping: 1979 Classic GP Manager

Feel free to ask any questions you have regarding the bidding.

Just one more, very important thing regarding the team finances after reading through a few bids.

Each team manager should note that teams have NO income during the season UNLESS they have a contract deal with such a clause. Next time every team receives income is through end-of-season prize money.

When making your bids
and planning your finances, it's good to keep in mind that pre-season testing costs 500cr, possible chassis development at least 50cr/race and building a new chassis 2500cr. It might be wise not to spend all your money on contracts so you have some money left to develop your car ;)

I have now done something I should've done right away when creating the discussion: I've included each team's chassis info in the first PM. There isn't really much to see though because I don't want to share the exact details of the chassis with the managers. When you get to developing your chassis there will be ETA for each update though.

Some teams also have a new chassis already in development. Those teams already have ETA's for their new chassis.

I'm sure the chassis development is something that requires getting used to so there will be more detail once the bidding process is done.

About the bidding so far: Pretty much everyone apart from the big teams incl. Ferrari, Lotus, Brabham and Renault have made their bids. If I ran the contract calculations now the grid would look quite bizarre. Can't wait to see how those big teams will change the situation :p

e. Also, end-of-season prize money is now included in the first post.

Maybe but that decision would require unanimous support from the managers because I've said that managers can change their bids as many times they wish before the deadline. Let's wait for all managers to make their bids and see if the deadline can be moved ahead. :)

Already told you that I'll most likely want to make some adjustments, so a no from my side on this.

I'm still waiting for @oldwolf bids. And I plan to wait for them, although the deadline passed. It's a new game and a new system so I don't want to be too harsh on anyone just yet.
However, there will be a penalty for the offer acceptance likelihood of oldwolf's bids.
