The year is slowly coming to an end. 2022 has been a year of many ups and downs. Both overall and in sim racing. So let's take a look back at what everyone's year has been like. Today, we're asking the question: What's your most played sim in 2022?

DISCLAIMER:
Before anyone complains, this is a large list. It includes some titles that may not be considered "hardcore sims". But that doesn't matter. We are all racing fans at heart. So let's stay united.

With that disclaimer out of the way, let me tell you a bit about my personal sim racing experiences this year.

I have come to the conclusion that my time spent on the rig has decreased compared to 2020 and 2021. Out of the games I played this year, RaceRoom takes the crown. But I have barely touched it in the 2nd half of the year. The reason is simple: the league I raced in now switched to ACC.

Therefore, my 2nd most played sim is ACC since that switch. And there I have been mostly streaming the races. So all of my ACC "seat time" is actually commentating time.

rFactor 2 is 3rd on my list of sims. And the playtime was almost exclusively in Q1 of 2022.

Personally, I just hope I get a bit more free time in 2023 to do what I love once again: Racing.

What have your experiences been this year? Tell us a bit about your sim racing story in 2022 in the comments below!

AMS2, surprised by the amount of rf2 votes since I can never find public servers that are populated

I am surprised too. Mostly because there are so many here who we've never seen in the RD rF2 Racing Club.
Is it too intimidating? Feels to pro?(that goes away quick when you hear the discord banter!)
Or other reasons. Hmm.

ACC for me. Numbers from Steamcharts for 2022.
AC is still killing it with ACC confidently in a second place and everything else trailing way behind.

AC, AMS2, GTR2, Raceroom in that order.

The fact that AC is in my first place is due to lots of good tracks and cars available.

Reiza is closing slowly but with a good pace and now mods will be possible.

GTR2 still one of the best games around with good supply of wathever I need for a race.

And RR, well the best AI of all IMHO but they need more content.

My all time steam stats:
  • Assetto Corsa = 238 hours
  • AMS2 = 105 hours (mostly all this year)
  • DR 2.0 = 50 hours
There are not enough hours in a day (to work and play sim's) :O_o:

AMS2 is great and looks amazing, but we are getting new AC tracks all the time. And tracks are getting more and more beatiful, too. AC is so versatile.

Happy for AMS2, such an underrated sim that has come such a long way and isn't slowing down, my personal favorite by a land-slide. Gave rF2 a chance again this year after giving up on it last year and while it has improved it's still too much of a jank-fest so RaceRoom takes second spot for me. May not be the best but it's reliable and doesn't disappoint.
If Reiza can bring the improvements to MP that they have slowly been working on behind the scene in 2023 I think AMS2 will become one of the biggest sim around.

Dakar Desert Rally, then WRC Generations, Supercross 5, and Dirt Rally 2.0. Outside of Steam, RBR
