The next monthly free update to Gran Turismo 7 will feature Toyota’s ‘90s 24 Hours of Le Mans challenge, plus two road cars, if the latest teaser is to be dissected.

As is expected, the weekend before each impending update, Gran Turismo series producer Kazunori Yamauchi teases what is set to arrive.

Today, 23rd March, is no exception, with a shadowy video posted, hinting at not just the silhouettes but the engine sounds.

News of any gameplay changes or additional features will wait for the patch next week. Ahead of then, here is what we think these vehicles are. You can let us know your theories in the comments below.

Toyota GT-One (TS020)

What was originally a GT1 car, with a road-going homologated model, and morphed into LMGTP, the GT-One competed in both the 1998 and 1999 24 Hours of Le Mans races and... didn’t win.

Yet the low-slung design – created by Toyota Team Europe and Dallara – patriotic livery and (then) underdog manufacturer credentials combined to make this a fan favourite. It also led significant chunks of the event in both years, before technical maladies and punctures robbed the team of glory.

So near, yet so far.

Across its brief three-race career, Ukyo Katayama, Keiichi Tsuchiya and Toshio Suzuki managed second place at the latter of the two French races, plus another runner-up spot at that year’s Le Mans Fuji 1000 km.

Alongside the real-world exploits, Gran Turismo players have known the model since it first debuted in the series in Gran Turismo 2 on the original PlayStation. The representation within Gran Turismo 7 represents its first appearance since 2013’s Gran Turismo 6.

Lamborghini Urus

The Italian super-SUV is set for its Gran Turismo debut next week, seen here at the rear of the teaser video.

The gaming series rarely deals in crossovers and SUVs, despite the recent addition of the loveable Suzuki Jimny. Of all of those on the market, the Urus is up there with the most performance-orientated.

Which exact specification is not yet clear. It first launched in 2017, with a facelift in 2022 and also a Performante version in the same year. Either way, all are powered by a 4-litre twin-turbo V8. It’s the marques best-selling model of all time.

Audi R8 V10 (Type 4S)

The third car we shall mention here is a little harder to make out.

It seems to be a second-generation (Type 4S) Audi R8, and by the sound of things, one with a naturally aspirated V10 engine.

A large rear wing is teased, so that could mean the ‘standard’ V10 plus coupé produced between 2015 and 2018, or the facelifted derivative from 2018 until this year. The run-out-special R8 Coupe GT RWD is also an option. The V8 and electric versions omitted the wing, and this looks to be the coupe and not the convertible.

So far, in road-going form, only the first generation is present. The second generation is available (in original and Evo form) as a GT3 race car only to date.
