TechArt Launches Official GTstreet R Mod for Assetto Corsa

Sports cars are an exclusive matter, even more so if they are produced in extremely limited quantitites. The TechArt GTstreet R is no exception - yet, sim racers can still get their hands on the lightweight rocked based on a Porsche 911 Turbo and Turbo S in Assetto Corsa: TechArt has released an official mod of the car for the simulator.

Despite the GTstreet R being road legal, its specs read like those of a track day car: Close to 800 bhp mean top speeds of about 350 kph (217 mph) combined with lightweight body parts, interior and wheels show that the car means business. The GTstreet R is limited to just 87 examples, so driving, let alone owning one will remain a dream for most.

All of the Fun for None of the Cost

Luckily, sim racing allows enthusiasts and motorsport fans to drive just about anything anywhere, and with the official GTstreet R mod, the high-tech aero monster that used to be a Porsche can even be pounded around the Nürburgring, for example - all without having to worry about astronomical cost and repair bills.

Unlike the real car, the Assetto Corsa mod is entirely free. It comes with a variety of body colors and configurations, and has been fine-tuned to match the characteristics of the real vehicle as closely as possible.

You can grab the official mod on the TechArt website by scrolling almost all the way down to the bottom of the website and learning about the car along the way.

Your Thoughts

How do you like the more extreme version of the 911 Turbo? Would you like to see more manufacturers release their cars virtually as well? Let us know in the comments below!

I would love to see more of this happening. Virtual test drive a car in your favorite racing sim, sounds like a neat idea. Just as long as the simulation isn't Crusin-USA or something like that. I think Crusin-USA was a lot of fun, but it was far from realistic.

"....Virtually implemented by GUERILLA Mods" can be found inside "description" tag.
I agree with you that it will be better inside "author" tag besides "TECHART"
TECHART emailed me this for my site from their press account and at no time was there any mention of any mod team at all. I wouldn't blame RD for not plucking that information out of their butts.

Advertisement? Not exactly TechArts' target market, no simrace enthusiast is buying this car unless they already own a few sportscars.

But also... hey, another 911 mod for AC, just what everyone needs!

I know RD isn't known for its journalistic prowess, but just the tiniest bit of due diligence by simply downloading the mod and unpacking it would show you the folder name is "gue_techart_gt_street_r", which could be a hint.

Installing it and opening it in CM shows you Guerilla Mod Team is mentioned in the mod description and in the car's tags.

Took me no longer than 2 minutes to figure that out but I realize copypasting a press release is easier.

Do have known of TechArt for some years now (though I prefer original car design I credit them for their dedicated work).
However, this is the first time I've heard of TechArt involved in simracing.
This is big for our tiny community! :inlove:

OK, thanks for the warning, I just glanced Yannick's article with excitement.
Time for self-examination at RD I think.
Thought we finally got rid of those kind of scumbags, but apparently trash people is used to survive in own garbage.

It's sp great that these mods still appear for Assetto Corsa. That sim isn't yet in the end of the life cycle!

We got sent a press release by a trustworthy source, so we operate under the assumption that what they are offering is legal. If it is not, that is on the those who offer the mod in the first place and tag it as official content - it is not (and cannot be) RD's job to check every last file for its originality.
Simply put: If a manufacturer releases a mod as official content, they take responsibility for its integrity.

Is it? When Ferrari obviously allowed a license for their cars in AC 8 years ago..... i think Ferrari is bigger than TechArt.......
How exactly is this 'big' for our apparent 'tiny' community....
For clarity AC has sold over 1 million copies.....
I'm not being funny, just a bit confused by your post.

My point is that it makes far more sense to involve major car brands in a sim (regardless of which way the money might go).
In my eyes, it is on a completely different level when a more niche car tuner is involved.

That Ferrari models are included in a sim doesn't say much about how small/big simracing is on a macroscopic level. That brand is an obvious choise.
But having a car tuner like TechArt (if it's actually them and not a scam...) involves themselves, is something completely different and for me proof that our world has grown. You may say it's in the same ballgame as Singer, but that brand is far more recognized worldwide.

Hope I make myself clear now.
