rFactor 2 and BTCC: Thruxton Announced for the Sim!

After getting Croft Circuit yesterday, now we get another British race track for the rFactor 2 Q4 update. Thruxton Motorsports Centre is coming. Fully Laser Scanned.

This reveal marks the third racing circuit to be added to this content drop. Studio 397 seems to be really stepping up the pace right now.

The Track Itself

Thruxton is one of these British circuits. You know the ones. The ones based on the premises of a former Royal Fair Force airfield.

In the 50s was when the first motorsports activities began to appear at Thruxton. First, there were only motorcycles. These circuit configurations, running until 1964, used part of the runways and part of the perimeter roads.

1968 was when Thruxton, as we know it today, was first raced at. In those days, it hosted Formula Two and the FIM Endurance World Championship.

More racing organisers piled upon the premises in the 70s, including Formula 5000, British F3 and the BTCC. The BTCC has been hosted on the circuit since 1979, Thruxton, therefore, surviving multiple generations of British touring car regulations.

The Q4 Content Drop So Far

Up until now, the Q4 content drop releases the following DLC:
Furthermore, tomorrow will feature the ACTUAL last piece of content for the Q4 drop, probably. So far, that reveal is only known to not be a BTCC-related car.

EDIT: Yet another track will grace the presence of rFactor 2 as the last Q4 piece of content!

How do you find Thruxton coming to rFactor 2? Let us know in the comments down below!

IMO S397 has given up on the "rF2 has a large ten"... S397 is mostly focused on tin tops and FE.

Brilliant, if you’re willing to pay twice the price a stand-alone BTCC game would have cost. And a BTCC sim would include all the liveries, tracks and rules of the real championship.
The btcc game won't be a sim. Guarentee it. So hope you don't run out of tissues where you keep crying about price

Vava they lied to you:) usually your guess is fairly acurate but not this time. FE it is... that's another DLC I'll pass on... May be if the Bahrain track the prototype ever go on sale I may get them but no rush. Croft would be nice but the existing one is already good enough for me. I dont drive it that often to get it.
Yep, it was Aidan!!! :-D That bastard!! :-D

Who says anything about crying? I think I am perfectly entitled to say that rFactor2 prices are too high. And that's the main reason why I don't buy them.

As for the BTCC game, you still think it will be released one day?

According to S397 on discord these release have zero to do with MSG and the BTTC game... But my guess is these assets in rF2 could be used for the future game. But licenses for each game are totally independent. So you cant read anything from S397 BTCC and assume it affects or relates to the main MSG group BTTC game.

Croft is a fun track, so will be great to have a decent version in RF2. I hate how they arrange packs on the RF2 store though, seems like you can end up paying twice for some content.

They are a little embarrassed about it, yes. I bought a Sebring when it came out, and if I bought the track pack now, I'd have 2 Sebrings...

Well, F1 and F2 have licenses with another game.
These licenses costs millions probably.
Indycar same story, ask Reiza. Not even changing a name will do.
That leaves F3 (Hey, they got loads of them in rF2).

Formula Pro closing resembling current regs would have been a good starting point... missed opportunity from S397 IMO. you have to question how was ISI able to do it and relase it for free? How did they approach the manufacturer that made it possible? Maybe look at previous year(s) model if that makes it cheaper.... IMO there are a few options. I'm sure BTTC, IndyCar and LeMans, Nords weren't exactly free either. You also have the option of pricing it differently.

I am absoloutely loving Thruxton, this version of it is just amazing! Right down to the dip in the grass at Church before the kerb starts that can really catch you out! And in the rain it properly looks just like the weather has been here in the UK this week!
