RaceRoom: Tyre Model Update, Content Releases Delayed

While its new tyre model will come in an update in December, other planned RaceRoom content faces delays. Technical difficulties have put further releases on hold.

A new RaceRoom update is on the horizon, with a new tyre model will be available. This will bring substantial changes to the force feedback, handling and braking of most cars.

All of that and more can be seen in developers KW in their latest development notes. Including the roadmap for future content updates.

RaceRoom V5 Tyre Model Update
KW collaborated with real world drivers and engineers when creating the new tyre model. They even got the expertise of the engineers working for Falken Tyre to create as authentic an experience as possible for the player.

RaceRoom specialists turned real world racers Moritz Löhner and Tim Heinemann have given their feedback. Löhner saying the cars now behave less floaty and more indicative of what they would do in the real world.

KW state that there will be no need to change driving style for RaceRoom when taking corners. Braking techniques however may be set to change drastically. Whereas before, the player would not have to modulate braking power that much, with this update it may be beneficial to revert your brake settings to default.

It may be a case of having to relearn your braking habits on RaceRoom. In order to account for the new level of finesse required to enter corners.

RaceRoom Roadmap
There are a few backend issues that are looking to be rectified, leading to delays. New content that should have been released in 2023 according to the roadmap has been put on hold as a result. This includes October's Circuit de Pau-Ville and Touring Car Pack, as well as a yet-to-be-specified Christmas special.

Affected releases will be rescheduled, although no specific dates are available yet. RaceRoom will announce them as soon as they are able to, according to the dev notes. To learn more about the background of the delays and the tyre model, read the entire newsletter by the RaceRoom team here.

I'm excited for these new tire physics. Not enough to drive GT3 cars, but I'm hoping it won't be long before V5 trickles out to other series.

Good to hear!

I didn't realize until I read the links, that the new tire model update was only gonna be added to the GT3 class :(

For a second I was excited for this update, to jump in and test the new tire model on some touring cars and older DTM's.

#Soon!

Wishfully thinking the Christmas surprise will be some new track tech like rubbering, dx11 or day to night......or maybe a new engine!!!

Glad to hear Raceroom will offer more grip and less floatiness. I'm now looking forward to historic content like LNER Class A3 "Flying Scotsman", Union Pacific Big Boy and others.
That part was just bizarre. Whoever wrote the development notes got it totally backwards. They cite Moritz Loehner as saying:

"The car always felt kind of floaty before - disconnected from the road - and slides were rewarded too much."

If you watch the video of him, he says basically the exact opposite - way too much understeer - which is what everyone thinks about RaceRoom.

It just states "selected cars". There are may be more than GT3s!

Now that you mention the old DTM cars, we can stare that those 2013 to 2020 cars are now historic cars, and they are not officially available in other sims. These were real beasts. I hope they'll receive soon the update. I have totally forgotten them but now need to race with them.

Knowing that the team is heavily working on these backend issues id a sign that KW is fully supporting the game and is willing to keep on improving the game for many years to come. It is absolutely positive and shows how seriously it considers its investment.

Speakkng abiut content, raceroom would be the perfect to get some now classic Super GT cars...

Good point, watching the video it sounds like they have a good understanding of the issues with the current physics. Hopefully they can make it more realistic but currently they are way behind in most aspects (graphics, physics) so I can't see R3E ever becoming a top sim racing title. Which is a shame because SimBin titles (even Race07) actually felt much better to drive.

That is except for FWD touring which Raceroom does really well, top notch

Did you even watch the video? At 3:58 he clearly says that the slip angles were "a little bit too crazy, too aggressive".

Which means understeer, as far as I know. Crazy slip angles needed to drive fast

Nothing to see here. They've been working on backend issues since day one. Every year the same thing. FFB or physics updates with new DLC right after a sale so you no longer have all content. This is nothing new for this game. Until they invest in a new engine, it's going nowhere other than it's current loyal base.

They hired someone to redo all the app, not fixing the current one. Have they done that before? Raceroom doesn't interest you, I understand, but why sharing you are not interested without any valid argument? Those who are interested don't give a .... of your lack of interest, do you realise that? You're just contaminating the world by puttkng datas in servers. Seriously, I try to do my best to write less messages in general, this isbpure contamination of the environment. Stop your needs for anger over the internet, many people have been expropriated in North America to reopen mines and mountains destroyed just for the sake of cooling servers for... messages... let those people who have been seriously working hard on our games do their job, we all will be winners at the end. You want them to quit and abandon their games? What the point?

The point is the game remains in the dark ages and until they do something about engine limitations the game will remain there. Sorry if that bothers you and your world issues. Facts.
iRacing also remains in the dark ages and it still has tens of thousands of people playing it. Most people don't care about that.

How so?.....current graphics? Even that area they have done tons of work since release.
You might also wanna watch the Nov. Development report on the front page, which talks about new graphics, oval track tech, tire models, physics and more.

I can't think of any other racing title in the past 10 yrs that has continually developed their engine by adding new code, tech and features than iRacing.

People can like or dislike that title but it's hard to deny the amount of work they have put into improving that engine and probably one of the reasons they have tens of thousands of users.

As a Raceroom fan and former tester, i hoped more work would have gone into developing this engine further.

I still wish they had of gone with the Race07 engine and remastered it like AMS as it still offers more features than the current engine.
