RaceRoom‘s final 2023 update is around the corner: The new tire model, DTM 2023 Pack and several trackside detail upgrades are coming on December 18.

While the new tire update had been announced already back in October, RaceRoom only unveiled the DTM 2023 Pack on December 8. The new content includes two new cars in the Ferrari 296 GT3 and the Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo II, plus 2023 DTM liveries for the BMW M4 GT3, the Porsche 911 GT3 (992) and the Mercedes-AMG GT3.

It will not bring the full DTM grid to the sim, however. Lamborghini, who finished second in both the manufacturers and drivers championship behind Porsche, are missing. No other models of the Italian manufacturer are in RaceRoom. The pack will cost €14.99 and will be the only way to grab the new Ferrari for now. It will be added to the GTR 3 class later on, however.

RaceRoom Final 2023 Update: New Tire Model

The most interesting feature of the final RaceRoom update in 2023 for most is arguably the new tire model. Promising a substantial transformation, it will be rolled out to all cars. Previously, it looked like like mostly only GT3 cars such as the new DTM vehicles would enjoy this benefit at first.

At the same time, physics exploits should be tackled with the new tire model as well. It is based on real data, aiming to make the cars more true-to-life and responsive. For a deep-dive into physics development, be sure to check out our interview with RaceRoom dev Alex Hodgkinson!

Updated Trackside Details

Perhaps a less exciting but still refreshing part of the update are new trackside details. With some RaceRoom tracks already having a few years under their belt, KW Studios felt the need to update the surroundings somewhat. The only circuit shown to receive such treatment thus far is Monza, as is evident in this article’s header image.

The extent of changes is also not known yet. Maybe sim racers can look forward to a version of Spa-Francorchamps as it looks like after its extensive renovations starting in 2021.

More details of the update, as well as the full changelog, should become available closer to its release date. RaceRoom will go into maintenance mode for the update’s deployment on December 18.

This sim would be a top contender if the graphics engine would have the modern features... They have so many good things going.
I loaded this up the other day first time in ages and couldn't believe how good it looked. I think AC has been turned so much into Forza horizon with all the blur and tat, I was quite refreshed to see a crisp looking nice colour palette no nonsense visual.
For sure the sky box is leaps and bounds beyond the AC mod by Peter.

Just sad that somewhere along the line FFB for me just lost its way...
Hopefully the tire model will get me right back into it, used to love it.

rF2 is the most crisp at this moment, far above all.

I don't understand the people who keep on going on about the graphics and the engine of Raceroom.
Sure, it looks a bit dated but it runs well, looks crisp and with third party apps like reshade you can get a bit more color depth, and it's not like the game looks ugly by default anyways. Texture quality may not be the highest, models may not be the highest poly or detail, but if the point is racing why do you care if you can read the text on the button to the far right of the dashboard? rF2 and iR don't look that much better and are way more resource intensive.

I'd rather have them release more cars and updating tyre physics because there are always more and newer cars to add and newer and better ways to simulate a tyre. I'm far more curious about the struggle with the Lamborghini license than a graphical upgrade.

right. It runs better on old core 2 machines with GForce 470, than on new systems

on my birthday,
looking forward to the new tyre models, YESSSS
more renamed GT3 skins sold as new cars... YAWNN...

no, i9 13900K is still more powerfull than any old CPU, it's just doesn't use all the power of the CPU like Assetto competitizione or Automobilista 2....
At more than 1080p resolutions the CPU is rarely the bottleneck for most of us.
For some people with 4090's it might be. ;)

the CPU is used to push the highest framerates, and at 140hz or 240hz, finally the resolution doesn't matter too much, the GPU limits, but it's worst with a bad cpu ;), and at 1440p with 4090 there is a massive difference with 13900k and 10900k....
the old myth that "the eye human can't see over 60fps" is the same as "at more than 1080p the cpu doesn't bottleneck"....;)

I don’t care about the announced content, but have high hopes regarding tire model upgrade. That’s the most difficult part to get right and it’s still weakest point in physics simulation as a whole in current sims.

It doesn't 'optimally' but it certainly doesn't run 'badly' on modern systems. It's certainly way better in VR than ACC.

Raceroom is from 2013, you use 2023 hardware, wait for 2029 and tell me you can't use ACC with 2029 hardware (acc is from 2019)
