RaceRoom Revisits WTCR Esports With €10.000 Prize Pool


Starting today, October 14, you can qualify for a new Esports championship in early 2023. The events are hosted on WTCR's official sim racing partner program: RaceRoom Racing Experience.

Shoot-Out Format Set​

The return of Esports WTCR begins with a three-round Shoot-out consisting of the usual time attack/qualifying phases and multiplayer races. Racers can select the liveries of Audi, CUPRA, Honda and Hyundai cars competing in the 2022 WTCR − FIA World Touring Car Cup and compete on three tracks, Nürburgring GP Strecke, Hungaroring and MotorLand Aragón, as follows:

Round 1: Nürburgring GP Strecke (new to Esports WTCR)
Leaderboard opens: October 14
Leaderboard closes: November 13
Live stream race day: November 16

Round 2: Hungaroring
Leaderboard opens: October 14
Leaderboard closes: November 20
Live stream race day: November 23

Round 3: MotorLand Aragón
Leaderboard opens: October 14
Leaderboard closes: November 27
Live stream race day: November 30

The top 20 teams after three rounds choose their own liveries, but incorporating existing sponsor and partner placement, for the main season kicking off in January 2023. The deadline for livery design submissions is January 3.

The 5-Race Championship Calendar​

The five-event main season, featuring a maximum of 32 drivers on the grid for each race, including the 20 permanent esports drivers who qualified through the Shoot-out, will take place as follows:

Round 1: Nürburgring Nordschleife
Leaderboard opens: January 9
Leaderboard closes: January 22
Live stream race day: January 25

Round 2: Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps (new to Esports WTCR)
Leaderboard opens: January 22
Leaderboard closes: February 5
Live stream race day: February 8

Round 3: Circuito da Guia, Macau
Leaderboard opens: February 5
Leaderboard closes: February 19
Live stream race day: February 22

Round 4: Suzuka Circuit
Leaderboard opens: February 19
Leaderboard closes: March 5
Live stream race day: March 8

Round 5: Track to be selected by Esports WTCR competitors via an online vote during Round 2 and 3 of the 2023 main season
On January 25 the vote will open for all Esports WTCR competitors. The vote will close on the raceday of Round 3 and be announced during the Round 3 livestream.
Leaderboard opens: March 5
Leaderboard closes: March 19
Live stream race day: March 22

All event racedays will be streamed live on RaceRoom’s and WTCR’s social media channels. A €10,000 prize pool is provided by long-term WTCR series partner KW Suspensions.

That's very unlikely as the WTCR and the WSC are separate organizations. It was said that there will be a new TCR Virtual competition, so maybe they took the old mod down in preparation for the new one?

How is it their fault? WTCR is open to works teams and each one of them always lobbies for themselves, that's normal and everybody else does it too.
The real culprit are, as usual, the FIA for how dumb their BoP system is in this series in conjunction with mandating that everybody buys expensive stuff to be used on the cars that are only eligible for this series and are not required literally anywhere else around the world.

As well as Eurosport for charging an absurd amount of money for the entry fee if you want to race in it, as well as asking too much money from networks to broadcast the events while still broadcasting it themselves on their own platforms.

And of course, when the BoP is so screwed up that you have to mess with tire pressure to get any performance out of the car, tires will explode and Goodyear can't do anything about it. This year, they cancelled the races at the Nurburgring because they deemed the tires to be bad, but literally those same exact tires were used the next day in the Nurburgring 24h, and nobody had any issues with them. So it wasn't Goodyear's fault, rather it was the teams having to wreck their setups to try and gain any performance out of the broken BoP that WTCR uses.

Actually that's not true. The regulations say that the teams need to be customer teams. The participating customer teams obviously had a lot of manufacturer support, though.

At Vallelunga, all cars suffered punctures. Therefore, the problem can't be BoP related.

It was self-inflicted from the teams running absurdily low pressures. That was a symptom, however, not the cause.

I don't see how the BoP is supposed to cause this. If you need low pressures to make the tire work, then the tire is simply not up to the task. This is not caused by compensation weights.

As you conveniently ignored from my previous comment, the exact same tires and the exact same cars ran on the exact same track during the N24 weekend. And yet, only the WTCR races were cancelled, but the cars entered in the N24 itself had literally no issues whatsoever driving around in circles for 24 hours straight.

This is not true. The TCR cars of the 24h race ran a different specification of the Goodyear tires, as Motorsport-Total.com reported.

There will be "2022" update soon for the TMM Cupra :) And I can tell that our tyres won't blow, we did Kumho specs :)
