RaceRoom’s premier competition is back for 2024, with a new season of DTM Esports Pro. Qualifying began earlier in the year with open leaderboards, followed by two Shootout rounds.

With the grid set, the first of six rounds began recently. The opening round consisted of two races around the Norisring using the DTM Pack DLC cars.

The field includes many prior DTM Esports, ADAC GT Masters Esports, Le Mans Virtual Series and ESL R1 competitors, creating what could be the most competitive tin-top series currently in sim racing.

Race 1

Tim Jarschel stole a march initially, the Falken Esports driver eking out a lead following a race-start squeeze with ESL R1 Spring Season 2023 champion Marcell Csincsik.

Third lay pole-sitter Moritz Löhner for MOUZ – the outfit recently announced works-support from BMW M Motorsport.

The top three pulled a gap over fourth and the chasing pack, led by Nikodem Wisniewski. The Polish driver making his debut for G2 Esports, switching from Williams.

Speaking of the Grove-based team, Dominik Blajer t-boned reigning champion Kevin Siggy at the lap-opening Grundig-Kehre. It was Team Redline’s nadir, as at the same moment Siggy’s team-mates were also collected in separate incidents – Jeffrey Rietveld spinning after contact coming out of the corner, and Enzo Bonito hit by Isaac Gillissen.

On the last lap, Csincsik closed in and tried to make a move for the lead around the outside of the first corner, but Jarschel resisted the attack. However, heading into the final corner, the leader ran a little wide defending, and following a tap from the R8G Esports driver, Csincsik snuck through to win the first race of the season.

Race 2

The second race of the event was redemption for Jarschel. Pole position was backed up by the win at a canter.

At the start, however, it was Csincsik who stole a march ahead of the Falken driver, with Gianmarco Fiduci up to third. The lead changed hands just two laps into the race, thanks to a dive into the first hairpin, and Jarschel never looked back.

He was helped, in part, by adversary Csincsik clipping the wall at the S-Kurve, spinning down to 14th.

Once the mandatory pitstops of the half-an-hour encounter had played out, Löhner (who had passed several cars on the opening lap) jumped Fiduci in the pitlane, while Siggy leapfrogged the affable Italian by pitting a lap earlier.

Jarschel, however, had disappeared and took a clear victory to lead the championship standings into the second round. This is set for 15th March around a virtual Nürburgring.
