iRacing Will Add BMW M Hybrid V8 LMDh

iRacing is one of the leaders in the simracing industry and has a strong bond with several automotive manufacturers. BMW M Motorsport is pushing hard along what the sim racing community has to offer and get the most out of this new competitive discipline and is delivering its impressive developments as soon as they are ready.

After the BMW M4 GT3, the LMDh car will be the second car being developed at the same time in the virtual and real world. This collaboration was announced at the BMW SIM Live event last Saturday.

“When it comes to introducing real BMW M race cars to the virtual world, BMW M Motorsport and iRacing have been close and perfectly attuned partners for many years,” said Maurizio Leschiutta, LMDh project leader at BMW M Motorsport. “As the head of such an important project, confidentiality is my number one priority; it would be fatal if the competition discovered the technical details of our car that we want to keep secret. In that respect, I came away really impressed by iRacing’s professionalism. We are making CAD data and findings from our simulator and racetrack tests available to iRacing. They are used as the basis on which to create a realistic virtual version. This gives every sim racer the opportunity to experience the performance of a state-of-the-art prototype and the appeal of BMW M Motorsport.”

“We’re incredibly excited to confirm that the BMW M Hybrid V8 will be coming to iRacing in the coming months,” said iRacing executive vice president Steve Myers. “We’ve been eagerly anticipating the LMDh class for a few years now, and BMW M Motorsport’s support has been indispensable in helping us to bring both their entry and the new class to iRacing. Building this car in the sim has been a joy for our team, and we can’t wait to see the community’s response upon release."

BMW M Motorsport and iRacing have already collaborated on several projects like BMW M8 GTE, BMW M4 GT4 and BMW M4 GT3. The LMDh car should be ready to take the start of 24 Hours of Daytona in January, and we should expect to be able to test virtually even before the release of the S1 2023 on iRacing.

What are your feeling about this new category? Are you eager to drive it on iRacing?

I still can't decide whether the nose is cool or ridiculous. It's like a guy with really big pair of nostrils.
Damn, you are 40 years too late. Thats just the comback I needed as a kid. 'I dont have a big nose, I just look like a cool car from the future.'

Do we know if any of the other sim devs are working on LHM/LMDh cars? Would love to see them in Rf2 and AMS2.

The AC mods are nice but I would like them officially supported

rFactor2 just released the Vanwall Vauxhall as part of the Q4 paid DLC release, no word if the hybrid cars will also be supported.
