iRacing Completes GTP Grid With Acura ARX-06

iRacing Acura ARX-06 IMSA GTP Season 4 2023.jpeg
Two modern prototypes running in IMSA were already in the simulation, one was announced officially - that left the fourth to be confirmed for iRacing: Just as expected, the Acura ARX-06 is coming to iRacing with the 2023 Season 4 build. Fans can get behind the virtual wheel on September 6th.

With the BMW M Hybrid V8 and the Cadillac V-Series.R already turning laps in iRacing, the Porsche 963 had recently been officially unveiled to be part of the upcoming build of the simulator. The GTP cars based on the LMDh ruleset are being joined by the ARX-06 to complete the 2023 grid of top-tier prototypes that compete in IMSA.

Just like the BMW, the Acura is only running in IMSA for now, contrary to both the Cadillac and Porsche, which are also competing in the World Endurance Championship's Hypercar class. While the BMW, which is run by Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing in North America, has already been confirmed to make its WEC debut in 2024, fans are still waiting for word on the status of the ARX-06 regarding racing outside of IMSA.

Should the car be fielded in WEC as well, it would likely be with the badge of Acura's parent company Honda. This approach was also used with the NSX GT3 model, as Acura's primary market is in North America, with Honda being more present in most other regions.

Are you going to try the ARX-06? Which of the four GTP prototypes in iRacing is your favorite? Let us know in the comments below!

Love that iRacing brings all cars of the new class! What I personally dislike are the series in which you can race them. Combining those cars with the LMP2 (IMSA & Pure Driving School Series) on short tracks for example like Lime Rock was a mess.

I would rather this than another buggy EA title.
I don't like F1 2023 also(and PC3). They VR implementation is horrible. But I still give Codemasters/EA the benefit op the doubt, in the hope that they had a completely different team working on WRC.

iRacing is good but outdated, their title still looks like it's from 2008, iRacing is not "holy", it should also adjust to the new time and age. The skyboxes/shaders/lighting/weather/trees etc.etc. are all outdated. But I also give iRacing the benefit of the doubt regarding this visuals, they recently did some good things(new trees in VIR, new shaders in the Willow springs) but it goes sooo slow, their new weather effects are already announced for year and I'm really waiting for that, because I hope that it goes together with a new skybox, in racing the skybox is ~30-40% of what you see, and the skybox of iRacing looks just terrible and so do the shaders, they care close to non existent.

Yes their MP is the most stable of all and that's a VERY important thing. The VR is good too, but the FFB could also use an upgrade, it feels less alive than Automobilista 2 for example.

Well, it is a balancing act. They need to ensure the game loads for all users efficiently, compatible with all hardware, and smooth frames. But I agree, time to speed things up a bit... Tired of racing at something very nice looking like Rudskogen and then having to race at Summit Point

yeah I've noidea why they keep using Lime rock park for races like that, and GT3 40 mins races. Lime Rock Park is awesome for things like the FF1600 and the Mazda, but GT3s with grids of 30s and IMSA races belong at track like Daytona.

Where is the Hybrid Simulation in this selfcalled No. 1 Simulation for those Hybrid cars? Where are realistic laptimes when using these GTP cars on IMSA Tracks?

Good news.

Are you going to try the ARX-06? Which of the four GTP prototypes in iRacing is your favorite?

For sure I will! Porsche is my fav in real life. In iR currently the BMW.

Without livery i would have trouble seeing what brand is what car...
2 holes at the front should be BMW.
But for the rest all these car look like each other too much.

I'm pretty sure if you know where to pay attention it's rather easy (but I agree...they look way closer than the prototypes like LMP1 or Group C e.g.).
All of them are very different in the rear lights e.g. as well as the front of the car. When you race them you'll figure it out quickly I think (works with the 2 out of the 4 currently well ;)).

Next logical step is to change the name here to iRacedepartment.com.
but that is really only in the week leading up to the quarterly update on iRacing, the rest of the time, it does not get as much coverage, as it does not generate as much news. so, don't worry, it'll stay Racedepartment fair and square

Isn't irl IMSA racing there as well though.
