Last night, Turn 10 hosted the latest of its Forza Monthly live streams. A chance to showcase new developments coming to the Forza series, September’s event predominantly focused on the upcoming Forza Motorsport title.

With the game’s release coming soon, it was a chance for fans to witness raw, uncut in-game action of the first few Career Mode events. The video showcases the game’s cover cars and a number of different event styles. It provides a great taster of what to expect in the game. Here are some of the key moments we picked up on.

Initial Forza Motorsport Gameplay

As with any gameplay video, the most evident take away is the graphics in Forza Motorsport. Indeed, much like any Turn 10 game, the true-to-life colour balance and lighting engine are stunning. In the second event showcasing night-time endurance racing, the colours are visibly gorgeous as ray tracing technology is clearly helping to elevate the game’s look.

Elsewhere, the audio also takes a clear step up in this latest game. This is something several early access reviewers are pointing out as well. The engine notes are all far more realistic than previous titles it seems, but the true shock in the audio department is how immersive the reverberation is. By simply watching the video, one can feel transported aboard a Honda Civic Type R or Cadillac V-Series.R LMDh racer.

Furthermore, one must point out the kerb effects. The sound of tyre rubber slapping the slats in the kerbs is nothing if not satisfying, akin to an audience applauding one’s use of the whole track.

Builders Cup Introduction

This latest Forza Motorsport gameplay video provides fans with an early view at the initial steps of its new Career Mode, Builders Cup. All about taking one car and building it into a race car beater.

This first series, shown off in the video, allows the player to choose one of three starting cars; The front-wheel drive Honda Civic Type R, the all-wheel drive Subaru Impreza STI S209 or the rear-wheel drive Ford Mustang.

After selecting their perfect car, the player is sent to Grand Oak Raceway for their first race. Several setup tweaks are available during practice sessions allowing one to adjust the car to certain driving preferences. Once they have reached the set practice laptime, it is time to race competitively.

Despite reported improvements to AI drivers both through speed and race craft, it seems race starts in Forza Motorsport will be somewhat hectic. Indeed, cars go flying everywhere in this initial gameplay video. However, once the field has figured out what it is doing, the racing does look fun.

If this initial Forza Motorsport gameplay demonstration has you interested, there is not long to wait until you can play it yourself. The game releases on 10 October to Xbox Series S/X and PC both via Game Pass on day one and traditional purchase.

Maybe it's just youtube compression or whatever but it doesn't look as good as GT7 and certainly doesn't look standout in the visuals department.

My son has a series x so I'll see what's what on release but I'm not that bothered at this point.

I think a lot of youtubers recorded it with hdr on and didnt go well. If you check Geek Street video on youtube he records his tv and setup. Looks amazing and definitely graphic wise extremely good.

The developers sure like showing the chase cam. I suppose that is their intended market?, simcade all the way then. Not sure it looks as good as they previously stated.
Having said that it looks like fun and I look forward to racing on Maple Valley once again..

After watching the video, I am now totally convinced that this game is not for me.
I hope the intended target customer is going to get curious, after playing Motorsport, on what it could feel to drive a proper simulator with a well set up wheel and pedals. As a dedicated simulator enthusiast, I am ready to welcome the next wave of newcomer to the genre. Many of us have been introduced to the hobby either with GT or Forza, the life cycle is about to take place again.:)

With the videos that have now surfaced I think this is going to be an XBOX Game suited for XBOX Controllers with typical rear camera and arcade game play, us poor PC Wheel Users are going to be disappointed.

I'm already disappointed. It's got that weird quirk to the physics signature of all forza games and that's not a good thing. The cars just don't feel right when braking.
Man, we really need GT7 on the PC. This crap ain't gonna cut it.

They managed to disappoint me 50 seconds in. The corvette looks like the tyre doesn't even wanna grip realistically to the tarmac.

Yeh cause GT7 isnt wrong either :)

Doesn't look any better than FM7, in fact worse than FH4/5.
Impressions from wheel drivers are not that great, my hope for AC replacement just died. :(
Too much hype that's just hot air and blatant marketing.

And they've removed MSAA, probably the last studio that was still holding on that technique.
TAA all the way a new standard across the industry, not sure what that means for VR users though.

Same graphics, just brighter. Too bright if you ask me. Way too much bloom this time. So much talk about new levels of fidelity and details...just BS.
Same AI, if not worse. Completely dumb and useless. It's the classic bumper car mess as in FM7, but even easier AND now you have the option to just start the race from the front. It's a game for kids now.
Same physics if...again, not worse. All this talk about a much better physics model and tire simulation...pure nonsense. Just worthless hype.
They didn't even bother to fix the cockpit cameras.Still positioned way too high, like it's a helmet mounted camera. It's supposed to be eye level, like in Gran Turismo.
Not surprised though. FM6 was actually better than FM7. Why would FM8 be any different or better.

Wait, did any of you actually think it would be any different than the previous Forza MS games? Did you truly not go into this thinking of it as the next installment of Forza MS with the same handling, but as something more sim-like?

No we didn't, but it's what the developer promised.

I think they know their audience and cater for it. But all that new and improved tire model, physics and FFB videos and BS talking.
Man, really, why even bother? Just do a better Horizon, it sells better, they probably just don't want completely surrender to Grand Turismo and have some parity on XBox.

omg , camera behind the car should be banned from the racing games looks so childish and the graphich is not like it is in the interstitial videos .This game is for kids

You are right, my biggest gripe with the visuals in basically all the footage out there was the fact that it looked super washed out and low contrast, like there was a greyish filter over it, incredibly ugly. But that video you suggested where the screen itself was filmed, definitely looked miles better in this regard. I wonder why the content creators were not noticing this and why they did not simply turn off HDR in their consoles/tvs.... The footage from Turn10 suffers from exactly the same issue. Its baffling to me why they are showing the game officially off in this way...
