Hyundai i30 Completes rFactor 2 Q3 Content Drop

It has been decided. After Gateway, Mini and Caterham, the final piece of content in Q3 will be a new BTCC car. And none other than the Hyundai i30.

Backed by positive feedback after the first 2 BTCC cars, Studio 397 aim to further its offering of the British Touring Car Championship.

As such, this release follows up on Studio 397's "intention to bring the full grid to life within rFactor 2".

Now, the previous statement was more interesting than the actual release of the car. The reason is simple:

We've Got More BTCC Coming!

If we take a look at the BTCC 2022 season, we can see the following cars:
  • Ford Focus ST
  • Hyundai i30 - coming Q3
  • Toyota Corolla GR - released Q2
  • BMW 330e M
  • Honda Civic Type R
  • Infiniti Q50 - released Q2
  • Cupra León
  • Vauxhall Astra
So if the aforementioned promise holds true for this season, there are still 5 more cars to come for the British series.

I look forward to the Vauxhall Astra most. But what would you like to see coming to rFactor 2? Let us know in the comments down below!

All they are doing is selling you a 'make your own' btcc game for more than you would have paid for the btcc game. That and being able to cover not being able to hit release dates for the complete game or having to release a game with actual structure and AI that wasn't garbage like the NASCAR game.
The BTCC, Indy, WEC and NASCAR games are all - even if correctly executed - devised to attract a much wider audience and NOT supposed to be hard core sims.
Why on Earth people don't understand this?
Are the Codemasters/EA F1 games true simulations which replace your usage of sims like AC, rF2, RR3, AMS2, iR when you want to drive a F1 car?

I agree there are people that don't care about ergonomy and manage to enjoy the sim but it's a small group of people if we look at player stats.
Only a small group of people is able to appreciate good things in life.

The majority will take everything for granted - being healthy, having fresh water and food on your table.
Your house is too small, your car is not expensive enough, you can't go to Hawaii.
You happen to have a hobby - simracing, but it's not enough. It's gotta be perfect. It has to suit all your needs.
rFactor 2 stands tall in the Pantheon of simulation software.
When the human race disappears, when the alien archeologists start digging up our heritage, they will stumble upon rF2, among many other things.
And I bet they will be amused.

But I still can't enjoy it. The AI sucks. The UI sucks. The business model sucks.

A pretty sad way of looking at life.

For the 100000x time, the AI is NOT unusable and it's actually quite good if you invest roughly the same amount of time you did with your post here.
There are some tweaks on the player.json file which, coped with running "practice and quali" before racing (you can accelerate time), will eliminate 90% of the AI issues.
Should it be necessary for people to tweak the player.json file?
NO, but it takes 5 minutes, so...

Serious question - which tweaks in the .json file do I need to do?

I doubt these games will ever happen through MSG. These asset drops are what will happen instead so the PS5. Xbox markets will never be tapped into.

Go to your rFactor 2 folder and find the "player.json" file and copy it and rename the copy "player-original.json" which will allow you to revert the changes if something goes wrong.
Then open the "player.json" file on Notepad and look for the lines of text corresponding to the ones which Mark Pearce has on the description of his videos (follow the link I am posting here:
) Copy that text and paste on top of the original text.
Make sure you don't make any mistakes with the copy/paste as all characters shown are needed, such as the " which is at the beginning and the }, which is at the end.

And, if you visit the S397 Discord, on the #ai channel, there is a user who made an evolution of these tweaks which you could also try.

I am not banking on them happening either, but I honestly only care that they do as their release and their eventual success would boost rFactor 2's future.

Is it true that rf2 does not support natively McPherson suspension? Because ffb in FWD cars feels very odd to me.

the content looks great like always, only thing is if you buy day one content in about 2/3 months there will be a 50% discount so I will wait.
Please think about a Iracing like system the more you own the bigger the discount.

Great new content and presentation of it.

But when I actually try to play this game then it's always bugged somehow, the MP is empty or I have to buy new content constantly when I have to join. And the AI is completely unusable. Then the public MP servers, they only host terrible content (ugly mods) or the servers are empty or the are in nonstop practice (lemans).

So still unplayable. I'm not buying things for this game anymore until the issues above are fixed.
Please tell me more about "Thee Title" that has all issues fixed!:p:D

I suspect that may be due to the ffb settings used. Simulated FWD cars require a healthy amount of Friction or Damping be applied to ffb in order to stabilize and offset Torque-steer.

If the developer applies such effect internally (within the ffb signal), it may work as intended straight out of the box. However, some titles ffb requires it to be added through the wheel software, and the amount varies per steering system in use.

50% discounts are, unfortunately, a thing of the past.
I believe that 25% is the best you can get right now.
I haven't checked how much discount was applied when - almost at the end of the summer sale, instead of right as from day 1 - S397 applied discounts to the packs, but I am pretty sure that it was 25%.

Just wanted to say thank you to those that helped with json file.WOW just had a battle and half with gt3 cars. Impressive change, if you don’t change this your botching is just that. Thank you again to all that help

This guy mentions it in detail.

Paste those lines in your json, always run practice and quali, run timed races with black flags only, and you'll have a blast.
It starts at 9:00.
Curios why these are not default settings or at least something exposed in UI?

Wasting your breath, they won't even try it.
I been telling people the same thing for 10 years for no more reason to see someone happy " gee I just had a decent race with AI"

What about the things not even mentioned
Like forced setup, like fuel load, like tyre wear
All of these can alter behavior differently depending on car / track combo

I can't believe most are happier with ACC and AMS2 robotic AI which can't think or learn for themselves, boring AI !

Come to think of it, that is probably what most want, AI that do nothing.

Was just yesterday did Brands Hatch with Historic F3
25 laps - 1 stop - 6x fuel 2x tyres - no forced setup
Start from 30th 108% AI 50% agro and no limiter
Ai and me doing 1:39-1:41 ( I am middling at best)

Anyhow one race strike me down..... 2 AI stalled at start ! :roflmao:
Not one car behind another they were rows apart.
I kid you not :coffee:
