GRID Legends Story Mode Gameplay Trailer Released

Leading up to a February release, Codemasters has released another trailer, this time featuring gameplay from the story mode.

GRID Legends is scheduled to be released on February 25th, and Codemasters is offering the public an advanced look at gameplay from the story mode.

GRID Legends will offer players the chance to play the Driven to Glory story mode, which puts you in the role of Driver 22, who signs on as the second driver for the Seneca Racing team. You'll need to build your reputation by performing well on track. The plot is described as a "classic underdog tale".

This plot seems quite close to the story offered in F1 2021's Braking Point, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, since Braking Point was a highlight of last year's F1 game.

The most recent preview offered by Codemasters shows how the actors playing the central characters in the story will be shown in mixed reality cutscenes rather than animation. Much of the story seems to focus around the paddock and offices of the Seneca racing team, which should be a great way for players to immerse themselves in the many facets of auto racing.

There is also a lot of gameplay shown, which seems similar to the previous GRID installment. The racing action seems to favour high amounts of action rather than a pure focus on realism, which is an approach that should appease the existing fanbase for the series.

So play it for a couple of hours, say "that's quite fun", and then never play it again.

They never add enough to do in these games and they never quite match up to the original Grid.

As a BAME, they/them, LGBTQ+, anti-patriarchy, anti-white privilege, anti-systemic oppression, liberal feminist birthing person, I approve of this game and game trailer.

It looks like a Woke ,Marxist propaganda, political narrative career for indoctrinated youth. Hold my beer , I'm heading back to my safe space. :cautious:

Oh no, did the big manly man who spins out his old F1 cars on his computer games get scared by seeing a woman and a black person?

not sure, definitely like some of the content, also love the idea of somewhat deeper career mode, however for me, the carreer mode should feel plausible , and when you see racing all the different cars , let alone sometimes in the same race, it feels bit weird

F1 breaking point was good, although for me it had one issue, if you didn't meet your goal, mission failed and you had to restart. EA in the Fifa series did - imo - a way way better job, where you could win, you could lose, and you story would changed based on your result. I don't remember if there was ever any game where you would lose and you would have to restart. But I think it makes the career mode even more powerful, where you can actually end up being sacked because you didn't meet your goals

might get this on sale , just because I love the cars

Not all racing games needs to be a simulator… arcade can be good fun if done right. I will probably get this some time on a future Steam sale with at least 50% off… like Grid 2019, which I just purchased for 25% of its original price in the Steam Winter Sale.
exactly, Forza Horizon5 was actually rather good! even though it did had lot of things I didn't like about it , like some of the evenets with rubber banded AI, racing against plane and motorcycles .etc

I bought Grid 2019 and thought it a poor game, very flawed and it still stings that I actually paid for it.
So this game? If its woke there's an even stronger argument to steer well clear.
The game is going to fail to deliver, maybe someone will enjoy it for a couple of hours.
Wokeness is of interest to a vocal minority. Companies will eventually discover that its not a good idea to be woke. The overwhelming majority don't want to hear it.

Just concentrate on the racing game, like 100%, that way you might accidentally make a good game!

Not all to do with color and gender, more the obvious unrealistic political agenda being pushed in our faces to submit to an unrealistic PR Marxist campaign. Similar to Battlefield V WW2 with women on the front line. Another propaganda lie. Wake up! Bought and paid for by the CCP to divide our societies.

A woman driving a race car? Never happened irl.

Like Renee Gracie for instance.

We can talk about how horrible the CCP without being racist (yellow nation???), but that's besides the point of this original topic anyways, or is GRID Legends secretly funded by the CCP to sneak in a black actor? Ohohoho!

Yellow nation is a slang-ish term for nations that straddle the line between INDFOR and REDFOR. I didn't even realize the potentially racist connotations, but I guess your mind works differently.

Premium
I'm noticing a trend, where arcade racers are trying to win the viewer over with pretty graphics and that "alive look", but the end result just ends up being way too busy. It's almost like when someone goes too far with their Christmas decorations. Yeah, it's cool, but damn... My eyes!

I hate how pressed some of these comments are because its not just 13 generic white dudes lmao, in any case Grid isnt really my thing anymore but the concept of a story mode was really fun in F1 this year and Im sure itll be pretty fun here it would seem. Might pick it up. Something like this appeals to folks who normally would buy a NFS title over anything else and I can commend Codemasters for trying to get into their market with this.

Character creation is key.
If there is any consolation, modder might just remove the storyline. Although you will just have another Grid game. Because nothing seems to have changed. I advise anyone here to eat the Gammon. Very delicious.
