Gran Turismo 7 Will Feature Over 400 Cars and 90 Tracks

Gran Turismo 7 Car and Track Count 01.jpg
Set for release in early 2022, Gran Turismo 7 will feature 420 cars and 90 tracks.

The juggernaut franchise of Gran Turismo will return with a new installment on March 4th, 2022. Gran Turismo 7 will be launched on both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 consoles.

The latest news released by developer Polyphony Digital involves the impressive amount of content on offer in the title. 420 distinct cars and 90 track layouts will be available to players.

This is great news for fans of the series, and further reinforces the notion that GT7 is a return to its roots. Gran Turismo Sport is the most recent release in the series, and it was a departure from the typical features and modes players had come to expect based on earlier titles in the series. GT7 will bring the expansive single player and car customization modes back.

It's worth noting that many of the cars and tracks will be variations of other, similar content. For example, Red Bull Ring and Red Bull Ring National layout are counted as two tracks. The GT series also has a reputation for packing many variants of Skylines into games, so don't be surprised to see slightly modified car models in Gran Turismo 7 as well.

The huge selection of cars and tracks looks to be the expansive content assortment fans of the series had been hoping for. Give us your thoughts on the upcoming Gran Turismo title in the comments below.

I'll bet there will be many variants of some cars and some kinda like 8 layout-track that could made up to this numbers
But still hope for many different cars because of the customizing options

Based on GT Sport, and 7 thus far looking like an evolution thereof, we can reasonably predict the nature of the car and track count;

- The track count includes variant layouts, and track direction in the case of originals and Willow. It's currently 82 in GT Sport, and with Trial Mountain, High Speed Ring and Deep Forest that would become 88. I'm starting to worry about Grand Valley's chances of making the cut (as that would be another 4 including the East variant)...

- However, the car count will have fewer duplicates compared to GT6, in the days where PD would bloat their car count for on-the-box boasting purposes. When there are duplicates in Sport, it's usually for the purpose allowing more cars to be used in Groups 1, 3 and 4 in sport mode.

Anyway, Sport has 338 cars as of last update, so there's a lot of new and returning cars for 7, many of which have been seen in the trailers. All premium models too, no more porting stuff over from the PS2 games. That's why the car count shrunk in the first place.

2022 year
Kazunori still counts track layouts as different track.
Too many questions to GT7 for been writing.

I would love to have GT7 but a plethora of reasons will result in me now playing GT7 unfortunately.
If you don't run a fanatec or Thrustmaster, you have no way of running a good DD wheel on a console, this is a huge shame because I enjoy supporting companies that make great product at affordable prices like VRS and Simagic. I would love to play this one dy if it ever comes to PC or if console makers stop being anooying and just let us run non-licensed racing wheels.

AAAAaaaaaa -sigh- marketing marketing  what would we do without you :p

I have a hard time to stop playing the first Assetto Corsa, because there is not a single simracing that give me enough reasons to do so.
The physics are far better than GT Sport, Forza, and even slightly more realistic than AC Competizione. With graphic and sound mods you are almost visually up to date. There is not a single simracing out there even close to the number of very high quality mods both tracks and cars available for Assetto Corsa.
I can give GT7 a chance, but i highly doubt that it can make me bury AC.
I feel more like waiting for AC2 in 2024 and i hope that developpers will not kill the modding.

Sorry to bother but,

Why should I be iompressed by the Sony Interactive buzz around such figures ?

These numbers are far from being great when you compare to the original game, that featured 140 cars and 11 tracks ( x2 with reverse )... in 1997 !

Moreover, take any of the actual sim that are open to modding - Assetto Corsa, rFactor2 ..... - each of them is featuring more cars and a LOT more tracks than what GT7 will offer thanks to modders contributions .... and the quality is generaly on par - if not above - with the vanilla game production
im sorry but there is some mod that are not realistic at all and some Assetto Cors Default Cars are feel like a bit slower than real life

I went on a journey to the moon over the castle and back, and couldn't find a single person who asked.

Why does it have to be that every time GT or Forza are brought up on this website, people feel the need to flex their superiority as a gamer because they prefer [insert niche PC sim here]?

That called cognitive dissonance. ;) We all suffer from it sometimes. Some more than others.

I don't own a playstation 4 or 5. A buddy of mine does though.

Okay now this has got me curious. If you can do an oil change here. Does that mean you can choose not to do an oil change/maintenance. I would genuinely get a kick out of blowing an engine in game because you haven't maintained your car. Could be fun lol.

I have been playing PS driving games since F1 '96, and only the past two year switched to PC.

The problem with PC is the DH factor when racing online, which Gran Turismo has really had sorted for quite some time. The main reason I switched to PC was AC; it's Mods and VR.

Yet I yearn for the online racing of GTsport, and can't justify the cost of iRacing.

The main thing is GT7 needs for me to buy a PS5 is full VR play through the whole game.

PC side needs better online racing at a reasonable price.

You can not count different variations as new tracks.

Red Bull Ring is one track. No matter how many different layouts.

If I look at this from a console game perspective 400 cars where car count matters to those kinds of gamers is weirdly low. Horizons got 200 more, forza motorsport 7 and even granturismo 4 has nearly double. Seeing how many variations some tracks have in GT Sport makes it seem like 90 is more like 30 tracks. Content wise this is meant to last a long time, for the type of audience that this is meant to attract this just isnt enough content. GT Sport ended up with 324 cars and 29 tracks, doesnt seem like they have done enough for this to be a mainstage granturismo title.
I have a feeling that the jump from 6 to 7 is like the transition from 2 to 3; a massive library of cars culled from previous titles due to graphics not being up to par with current-gen capabilities.

Honestly I kind of saw this coming; with how low-poly & low-res many of the GT3+4 cars were compared to those from GT5+6, even with cars that got "Semi-premium" refreshes like the Ford RS200s, Toyota GT86's and the Formula GT, I knew most models wouldn't make the jump to 4K without getting a full rebuild.

I do hope that a new "Group A" rally class is introduced so that the '08 WRC cars and the Evo X & Hawkeye Impreza RM's can be re-added at least as the rally cars were my favorites.

The clear problem I see is their over the top detail, they say it takes around six months per model. That is in my opinion not acceptable, sure the cars look great but to what end, how much worse would they have looked if they spent several weeks or a month less time. Compare it to forza, two horizon games and a motorsport entry in the space since gt sport came out. Many times more content. Just seems badly managed to me. Surprised Sony didnt step in, how will they look when the next Forza Motorsport gets announced and the amount of content has the potential to be double that of GT. All for the price of a year of gamepass.
